You must have missed the news behind that.

Apple was most likely going to have 4/8GB for the new Nano, then Microsoft threw a wrench into their plans with the announcement of the 16GB Flash Zune. Apple had to unload all those already built 4GB 4th Gen Nanos somehow.
It also explains why the 16GB models weren't available on launch but the 8GB models were. So far, no 4GB models in the US, most likely only outside the US due to exchange rates and the like.

A quick summation of rumors/what I was told by the Apple employee @ Best Buy.

-3 weeks from this week is a good time to come back for a new MacBook.
-Aluminum cases are a go
-Minor price drop, maybe $100/model line.
-Don't expect HDMI out on the MacBook

So, the MacBook is definitely 99.9% out of the picture tomorrow. That leaves the MacBook Pro then. ;)

Yes, I thought that too.
Can we really trust just one Best Buy Apple employee based on what she said and say it is true?

I'm sure people INSIDE the company talk to each other....? I know at our company, news spreads very quickly, but still is supposed to stay in. She was a sales person/rep, and specifically asked "what do you want to see in the upcoming model?"

I dunno, I take her word at face value

hmmmmmm... this is troubling ha, but... where did the oct. 14th speculation come from, a reliable source?

and... what do u guys think, is it gonna be worth the wait for the new models or should i just get it now?

My aunt works at Apple. She's a representative, something like that(She goes to compagnies to promote the mac, etc) and she doesn't know a word before the day of the announcment.:eek:She basiclly visits Macrumours to know stuff:D

So I don't know how a Best Buy worker would know:apple:

Wait, you won't regret it the day it's announced:D

During the life of an Apple product, the price is never raised. The new MacBooks will be slightly cheaper (or the base models will be replaced with specs of higher models at no extra cost), so don't worry. You know October sounds like a good month based on a number of reasons/rumors, however, it really could happen on any Tuesday in October. But hey, they've been on a roll lately (with the iPhones and iPods) when we heard stuff like, "people familiar with Apple's plans..." or "people familiar with the matter.." So I'm thinking the 14th sounds good but I'm sure we all want to hear September 30th or October 7th instead. I know I do...

I highly doubt that Apple would update two products from the same product line on different dates within a month. They will pick one date to unveil all of the new updates.

Am I wrong?

Well the only downfall is thinking logically, and sometimes businesses just dont work by the rules of logic.:)

I'm a little disappointed at the activity on the forum. Last Monday, a thread like this had massive activity. It was fun to fritter about, crossing our fingers together about the possible release. The heartbreak wasn't so bad. It was almost fun. I was hoping for another installment of a MacRumors stakeout, every Monday night until the release. Now I am sad.

haha i couldn't agree more...everyone got my hopes up and they got broken...but its fun as hell :) :apple:

i think its a little slow today cuz after over a 1000 posts, were a little burnt out, and the wait is a bitch.

I don't want my MacBook Pro to be smaller, I want it to be more useful. Taking off the FW-400 and full DVI ports will not make it more useful.

Agreed 100%. Apple should spend more R&D $ on making their computers more powerful at a reasonable price instead of shrinking everything. I know I want to feel something of substance under my fingers while using the MBP. With the Air I honestly feel like I might break it by accident.

If you say steve jobs name 3 times in the mirror he will appear and tell you when things are released;)

...and then he reaches out & rips your heart out of your chest. Just so there are no leaks of course. :p
