My Galaxy S8 has an always on clock that is very handy. It moves position so there is no burn in. I wish my X had the same feature.
This is iOS. All you can do is hope.

Since all you have to do is tap the screen to see it, no thanks. I’ll go without the battery drain.
There has been speculation that Apple will eventually use the OLED screen in an always on mode for notifcations - which would include a clock.

When or if that happens, all you have to do is look at your screen. :)

PS. Power draw for OLED always on screens is minimal.

Apple hasn't fully embraced the capabilities of an OLED display. Why do notifications still have to power on the entire screen, including the background? This could be a huge battery saver and I'm hoping OLED is in the forefront of their mind in the next iOS major release.

Fanboys will say they don't want it until Apple puts it on the iPhone. It's very handy especially when your phone is not in arms reach. When in a meeting and my Note 8 is laying on the table, I just look at it to get the time. No need to double tap the screen. Battery drain is negligible because it doesn't use the whole screen which is the beauty of OLED displays. Like someone stated, Apple needs to get on the ball with notifications. Not sure why the whole screen has to turn on just for a notification. I guess when Apple does it, they will do it right?

If you are in a meeting and your phone is not close to view, ask Siri. ;)

I had it with the Note 8 and it was fine. My only complaint is that it would drain battery overnight. Plus, I don’t always like it showing notifications. The music controls were kind of tedious too.

I found it to be very annoying when I had an S8 for about a month. I disabled it on day one. I don’t care if Apple does something similar as long as it can be disabled.

You can put AOD on a schedule so it automatically disables after a certain time and come back on when you want. Also, utilize DND on a schedule so notifications don't display in the middle of the night. Not sure what the music controls have to do with AOD. You saying you had music controls on the AOD? You also don't have to wake your phone to see the the artist and track because it's right there on the AOD.

It is a nice feature on the S8. At a glance, I can see the time, whether I have one (or more) work emails, personal emails, snapchats, texts, etc.

And battery drain is negligible.

It would be nice to have but I dunno not sure I would want that on at night. Think would keep me awake.
LOL! Can't imagine what you'd do with the clock app I use at night. My 6s+ screen is on all night because of that app.

Pro tip: Don't buy an alarm clock or let your cable box or DVR display the clock at night. :)

I didn’t notice it draining my battery but I have my Apple Watch for that.

You leave the screen on all night? does the phone heat up?

Not to my knowledge. I've never felt any heat.

I've used Alarm Clock for Me (called My Alarm Clock when I first installed it) since Christmas 2011 and it's the only app running at night.
