Just to answer the OP, yeah I'm not using 3D touch at all. It's hard to use a touch screen in an entirely new way. I'm also having problems with copy and paste, hopefully it's my fault. But sometimes it just haptic taps me over and over and won't copy/paste

Force yourself to use the feature for a day. The next day you will use it more. The after you will appreciate it. Start by using 3D Touch for safari and camera app. Try using it for quick messages. Calendar inputs or peeking at web links. It's a game changer for me.

Peeking in on web links is A+. Same with emails. It took a few days to get used to it but man, once you start to use it, what a treat. Looking forward to more apps implementing this.

Not so sure about peeking web links or emails. You can't see enough of the page and keeping a thumb pressed down all the time you read it is a bit tedious.

I like the keyboard cursor feature, and being able to specify which camera I want to use but the main software feature I like is nothing to do with 3D Touch. It's the back button at the top left of the screen which allows me to go back to mail or messages.

For me personally I was coming off a 5c on my two year upgrade cycle so I was getting this phone pretty much regardless of what features it would have.

So far I love it, the new camera, speed etc are massive upgrades for me. But the 3D Touch just wasn't something I felt like would be a major player for me, and now in use so far it isn't. Most of the time I don't use it unless I consciously think to, but as others said maybe with more time and more people find new ways to use it, it'll become part of my daily habit. Until then, it's a take it or leave thing for me - if it was gone tomorrow it wouldn't effect my personal use or experience.

Still getting accustomed to using all of it regularly, but the trackpad mode is seriously nice. Practice it a few times and you'll be committed. It's far better than the old way of selecting text.

This video explains it pretty well. One thing it leaves out is you can triple "quick press" to select whole paragraphs.

It does nothing faster for me.

It is quicker to move your thumb to the left of the screen and activate the app switcher, than it is to move it to the bottom of the phone and double click. Especially with the larger screens of the 6/6s.

Explain why anyone would want to peek at a website? If I have a link to Ebay in an email, I know what i'm getting myself into with it...either I want to go there or I don't. If it's a listing and I want to quickly glance, it comes up so small and you can't scroll, so it's hard to get a handle for what's going on. Again...these are only my takes on it.

I upgraded because I do every year. I don't use it for messages because it basically only shows the latest people I texted or new message. Quicker really to just open messages. I don't use it for mail because why do I need it to take me to inbox when clicking the mail icon takes me there. I could see using it for the camera features but I forget to. The peek in photos makes no sense...I'm peeking with the thumbnails and open the pic I want full screen. I also don't use Safari, I use chrome. Like someone else said, you just have to make an effort and find use for it. Just my opinion
In camera, it's faster to open the last photo and swipe it down than to peek.

My exact thoughts, my friends are like I can peek into links now! While im sitting here like......................when i get a link Im going to already know if I want to open it or not. End of story lol...

I think 3D touch is one of the lamest "innovations" of late. It doesn't save me any time vs actually going right into an app which has to be done if I want to use it anyways. Maybe App devs will fine better uses for it but it seems silly for my own use.

That's kind of how I feel..I'm excited to see what shows up in Cydia for 3D touch. They will deliver some excellent things that Apple will never bring.

For the weight and thickness gain, I would have found a larger battery much much more useful than 3D touch. I only use it to view animated photos

I forget about 3D touch sometimes too but i do occasionally use it for Safari links. I'm sure once other apps start implementing it then I'm sure I'll use it alot more.

It would be hard to pinpoint a percentage of iphone owners that would use it since you have anything from teens, mom and dads, grandma and grandpas. If I had to throw out a realistic percentage all I can say is far less owners than those that actually would.

Same can be said for features like Apple Pay, Touch ID etc. while the percentage would be much higher probably a feature is there to utilize but I doubt many upgrade for any one specifically.

If a website is linked in an article, an email, a forum post, I find it helpful to take a look before I open it up all the way. Maybe I decide that I want to just add it to my Reading List for later, I don't have to open up the page completely, leaving the tab I was reading the article on, adding it to the reading list via the share sheet, scrolling back to the tab I was originally on to go back to my article. I don't use eBay so I don't know if it's useful for such things.

So I kind of see your questions as "why should I use TouchID when I can just punch in my passcode." If you don't want to use what's available, then you don't have to.

I really forget it's there and when I do, I can't find a reason to use it. It does nothing faster for me. I'm basically getting nothing from the 6s+ other than the increase in performance over the 6+

I have not used it either. Still love the phone but it is not that big of a leap from my 6+.

I find the always on "Hey Siri" my favorite feature. Works great for me!

Personally I thinks it's fantastic, I use it for browsing in safari and whilst typing.

But the point is, they made the battery smaller, the phone heavier and thicker to support this feature. That's quite a sacrifice if most users don't end up using it much

I don't get it. Many of you sound like you would rather Apple didn't include this feature at all. Yet if they don't do something innovative and new from time to time, everyone complains about that as well.

This is a completely new way to interact with the touch screen, that no one else has, and it works very consistently and in perfect coordination with the haptics.

I agree that peeking websites is not always useful, but to some it is.

But I have a hard time believing that the touchpad function isn't useful to just about everyone (once you get accustomed to using it and knowing it's there).

Also, certain app shortcuts are going to be useful to a lot of people. In Maps, you can quickly drop a pin - great for when you need to remember a parking spot, directions home, etc., or instantly get directions home. In photos, you can launch directly into front or back camera or video mode. And in Phone or Messages, you can jump right into a recent contact.

This is just the beginning.

I don't feel this way. Just saying the biggest things they advertised I see no use for. I'm glad I have it because I'm excited to see where it goes. That's like live photos. I used it a few times to see it work...have found absolutely no reason I would ever need or want to use that, but it's kinda cool and I rather have it than not.

They also gave it 2GB of RAM and a better camera. Honestly the variances in what you're talking about are pretty insignificant. The biggest difference is in weight in a whopping 14 grams. Is that really the complaint? The battery is the same capacity, but yes, it's being used differently than before so it probably affects your personal battery life. I don't really have any battery issues.

If using 3D Touch and it affecting battery life concern you, you can turn it off since it isn't a feature you're interested in anyway.

I definitely see 3D Touch as a more power user feature. It's really only good right now for shortcuts, which is what power users want. Most people probably don't even know it exists or uses it. However, once more apps use it it will become more useful and I think in the long term 3D Touch will have big ramifications. As others have said, it's like a right click. Personally, I think it's the missing link to eventually ditch the home button and make a almost all screen iPhone. You will 3D Touch the screen to show the lock screen and press down harder to activate Touch ID and unlock the phone. I'm sure Apple has the technology to put Touch ID in the lower part of the screen. For hard resets you would just hold down the lock button along with both up and down volume.

While using my 6s+ one-handed, getting to task switcher from a firm press on the left side is much easier than the double-press on the button.

Being able to peek at a link's contents or an Apple News story is great if I'm not sure they're worth it because I'm back where I was simply by easing off the pressure rather than finding and touching the "Done/Prev/Back arrow". Once again, very "1-hand friendly".

Some of the shortcuts for the Apple apps are helpful too, especially the ones that dynamically change based on how you're using the app. (e.g. messages will change the choice of contacts offered up in the menu based on who you've been texting the most recently.)

The most difficult part right now is that (for the most part) only Apple apps support these gestures, so you can't rely on them to be available, which gets frustrating. I remember when pinch-to-zoom was first introduced and half the time you went to use it, it wasn't available and you got annoyed.

Just as that eventually because ubiquitous in the places we'd want/expect it, I think the same will happen with these 3D touch gestures, and THEN we'll start seeing their potential realized.

The point is, if you made a poll of 1000 iphone 6/+ users and asked them if they would prefer more battery or 3D touch , I would guess 80%+ would vote for battery.

The weight and thickness gain is primarily from the 3d touch. On the 6s+, the difference is 20g which most reviewers have said its noticeable.
