I disagree. I've got a huge Note III and it will last a pretty decent amount of time honestly. Now my iPhone 5c lasts a long time too. I'm impressed with them both.

Look at that screen usage. You barely had the thing awake. No wonder it lasted so long. Open up the screen on time and then let's see how well it did.

There's this concept called "one-handed operation" that the phablet trend doesn't get. I don't want to have to do everything with two hands. It's a PITA and aggravating as hell when you're doing anything but sitting at a table.

One of the only downsides to iDevices is that you can't replace the keyboard. Being able to use Swype on an iPhone would be magical.

So the HTC One and Moto X are "phablets" with their 4.7-inch screens?

My guess is that you think all phones with a display larger than the iPhone's 4" display is a phablet.

I like the size of the current phone but want a larger screen. I'm in favor of slimming the bezels and enlarging the screen. I'd be open to removing the home button from the front and relocating it in some fashion.

No, but the trend toward even bigger with the S4 5" being the launching point toward the Note 3, Galaxy Mega, HTC One Max, and Xperia Z Ultra ARE a problem.

IMO the HTC one and Moto X are FANTASTIC in the hand. Possibly even better than the iPhone if you have bigger hands. And frankly I love the way the HTC is designed. It feels awesome. That's about the limit. The S4 and LG G2 are pushing it and REALLY difficult to operate with one hand when it comes to reaching buttons in the upper corners.

Worse still is that, aside from Apple, there are NO companies putting top level hardware in a screen smaller than the One and the X. You can't find an Android device with a 4" screen that's also running high-level hardware. The S4 Mini? Please.

If I hadn't gotten my iPhone cheap, I would have ended up with a Moto X.

Its outer dimensions are not much larger than an 5/5s, but the screen is noticeably larger. And for me, it can still be used with one-handed, and feels good in hand.

In isolation, the iPhone's screen is fine, but once it's side by side, it seems puny compared to most smartphones now.

I also see a Note 3 every day. The large screen is nice, but I prefer something that's pocketable in something other than a breast pocket.

I use a Note III as my internet device and also can use it for tablet purposes. Though I rarely use it as a phone. I use my iPhone 5c for calling. I suppose that's why I happily keep two lines. One has limited data the other doesn't. Both of my bills together are only $80, which isn't bad considering.

You are not on verizon lol.

People also dont want to carry around a brick. I'm in the camp the size of the 5s is the limit.

You claim to wear a suit for work, but clearly reading comprehension is not a skill needed for employment at what you do.

Apple iPhone + Apple iPad = heavier than any 5" to 6" cell phone

So who carries the brick, the user that carries two devices or the user that carries one?

I know, you were just making a post to make a post! ;)

Why would anyone want to hold a phablet up to their ear when on the phone, it is stupid.

Why would anyone want to hold anything up to their ear.

That is stupid and very inefficient having to tie one hand up taking a phone call.

I mean you could use one of these ......

... and have both hands free to do other tasks as needed!

Reading comprehension is a skill that is clearly evasive. :)

I have an iPad but it's usually at my desk unless it's needed. My iPhone is carried in a pocket. Either shirt pocket or pants pocket.

Next.

I finally made the jump from a 4S to a 5S last week. While the bigger screen is somewhat nice for reading through websites, I absolutely do not want a phone any wider than this. I don't want to be tethered to my phone by having to use two hands just to operate comfortably.

My phone, to me, should be the device I can take out of my pocket, bang out a quick text message in one hand with a coffee or cigarette in the other and be done with it.

I've borrowed my sister's S4 before and I can't stand the large screen. Yes I could see more of a website in one shot, but I feel tethered and completely ripped out of my surroundings focusing on handling the device rather than it being convenient.

I'm aware that many people have larger hands or don't mind two hand operation, but for me personally, this trend of pushing phones into the tablet realm is really discouraging.

Pretty much sums up my opinion too! Love the size of the 5S but it is the perfect size to extend my thumb. If it was just a bit larger it would be difficult to use with one hand. I bought an iPad for activities for which I want a larger screen.

On the front of the 5S there is almost an inch and a half that is not viewable screen. IF they could use that space to extend the screen a bit without increasing the overall size of the phone that might be a great idea.

I think phone calls are a remnant of the past, an unsociable relic that has no place in today's age. How many phone calls are truly private? I mean talking about things you wouldn't talk about if the person had walked up to you? I think FaceTime is the way forward, it's as if someone walked upto you and said hi. How many times have you seen a disgruntled look from someone waiting in a cue as someone answered their phone? But not if someone walked upto them. So FaceTime would fix this because it'd be like they walked upto the person. People in the cue would be more relaxed seeing the other person and hearing the other side of the conservation just like they'd walked upto say hi. And if the person was about to get served in a line or at a restaurant the person calling would see the situation and shut up and wait as if they were there.

If you were designing a phone just having voice makes no sense and the only reason video chat wasn't invented first was due to limitation. FaceTime calls should be the norm because like I say how many calls are that private? And if they are you would just say I can't talk now and the person calling would see why, you'd then say let's chat private and either walk away or put it in prehistoric mode aka voice chat as if you were there in person but whispering in each other's ears.

It's not that phones need to change its us, the way we use them, that needs to change.

Um.....NO!

FaceTime, Skype, etc. will certainly become more popular but will certainly never replace traditional "phone" calls. For family members and great friends FaceTime and Skype are the way to go. But for the other 80% of conversations, this is not going to happen.

The 5C is great for my small hands. Yes, I am an adult, but my hands are small and the size is perfect.

My iPhone is always with me, but I don't need an iPad always with me, so your is a non sense because those huge phablets are a brick you have to take always with you.

In my opinions they have the right dimensions for a smartphone ... A pity for the crappy android behind :D

I really hope for a 4.7" iPhone 6

No doubt the iPhone 6 will be bigger and I do not mean just taller! You will have a choice as they will still be selling a new iPhone 5/5S size phone for those who swear they will never accept a larger screen, kinda just like when they owned a 4 and jumped all over a 5!:p

Used it a bit more. Similar results.

Dude... are you using your phone for anything else than that "media server"

Everything else just seems like idle time.

I'm female but yeah. It just turns out that most of my other apps don't use much battery. I mostly just use it to browse the net and the forums on Tapatalk.

Don't know. :what:
