Am I the only one who doesn't like this trend for oversized phone screens?

I personally think that 4.3-4.7" is the sweet spot. 3.5-4" screens aren't very good for typing because the keyboard is so tight I mistype all the time.

There are plenty of forums where you can speak about your android phone. This is the iPhone section of an apple based forum....

Why are you being so petty?

Or maybe you are afraid you might learn something about another phone that you did not know?

Then again, where does it say that a user cannot mention another product in comparison to what Apple has to offer?

But, I have an iPhone too...

And you are welcome to speak about that .... I was asking about ANDROID screenshot, not about your presence here.

First: I have to learn nothing, since I have three different Android based devices in the very next room.

Second: the thread topic is about screen dimension, not buyers advice for other products.

What I can't understand is why on the iPhone section of this forum someone feels the need to speak about android in every single thread.

I don't mind the idea of Apple introducing a larger-screened iPhone, just as long as they still keep a "sane-sized iPhone" as an option.

I don't want a bigger screen iPhone. Some people do, but i feel the majority don't.

Between 1985-2007 the trend was making phones smaller, thinner, more compact. Come the iPhone, opposite trend.

I wouldnt say that I totally NEED a bigger screen than the iphone 5s. however I need a drastically improved battery life. Lets be honest - battery life is garbage on the iPhone for heavy users.

Making the body of the phone bigger gives more space for a bigger battery because the chipset/battery ratio is improving (chipset cannot be decreased infinitely). Check out the LG g2 - it has a better battery life because LG could fit in a bigger battery.

Now if you compare it Apple actually did a way better job because they could contribute a lot more space to the battery. Also Apples iOs seems to be way more power efficient as it can squeeze off more usage time of its rather rather smalll battery.

So what I wish for is an iPhone with the same form factor as the lg g2, but combined with apples engineering and their great energy saving os. I would say this would improve the battery life big time. And in the end - that is my most wished feature.

5.2" ?
Too large for me ....

See this is my thoughts too…Apple made a great device. The UI is very smooth and very easy to use. Except for the screen size……if they offer a larger (4.5 or 4.7) size iPhone. I think they would be surprised at how well it would sell. they could still sell the current size iPhone along side the larger iPhone size. After making a phone everyone wants to spend so much time using they really need a battery that last all day of heavy use. Such as the LG G2….that battery last all day and then some…..

If the next IPhone is to large and looses one hand operability a lot if people will not update
On the other hand many will be enthused. So its
Really a question of.selling 2 different size models in order to keep everyone happy

Agreed. An iPhone above 5" will alienate a lot if people unless they keep some form of a smaller screen on a second model.

Apple needs to put a bigger screen on the current size iPhone.

The bezel on the iPhone is nearly worst in class (highest ratio bezel area to total front area).

Good idea on paper... but every single case I have would cover the sides of the screen if the screen were any bigger, and I don't think I'm the only one that would have that problem. I want a case that can wrap around to the front of the phone and still give me enough room to tap the edge of the screen with my finger. It's already a bit cramped with the current design, I would prefer that Apple just makes the entire phone bigger if they want a bigger screen.

It's really not the end of the world if the bezel gets smaller, just pointing something out.

I think 4.5 would be about ideal. Anything bigger than 5 would kill it for me. I feel very uncomfortable using my Note III for calls, so I generally don't. That's what I enjoy about my 5c. It feels super comfortable when I have to hold it up to my ear with my shoulder too.

I agree with you but keep in mind the bezel on the iPhone is nearly the largest of any phone. Case manufactures don't have a problem making cases for phones with smaller bezels.

There is a lot of wiggle room on the iPhone.

I have a Note 3 and honestly it gets more use than my iPhone 5s. You really don't know what you're missing until you try it.

That fingerprint sensor wastes a huge amount of space. You can't get an iPhone to a Moto X level of compactness with it.

Why would anyone want to hold anything up to their ear.

That is stupid and very inefficient having to tie one hand up taking a phone call.

I mean you could use one of these ......

... and have both hands free to do other tasks as needed!

Good point...but not many people use those Bluetooth headsets. They are a trend of the past.

Good point. I'm sure case manufacturers will adapt quickly to a bigger iPhone. My first iPhone 5 case was shipped to me before the iPhone 5 was even released, now that I think about it.

Maybe where you live, but in NYC, bluetooth headsets are alive and well.

I live in a major US city(not stating for security reasons) but I hardly ever see people with them now and when I do it is people who don't know how to use new tech

Time to wake up. It's neither an oversized display or a fad. We're talking reality, as hard as that may be to comprehend for those who allow Apple to do their thinking for them.

If the following rumor comes true, Apple will win big and I hope they do.

I hate to see such a good company live in denial for years on end while foisting off demure little phones on the unsuspecting public. :)
