I promise you this is going to be Amazon's demise. To suddenly compete in an area you have no clue in, with global financial markets on the brink, only the big ones will survive, and this category will only drag Amazon down to the gutter.

I promise you. Such a bummer. I love to shop on Amazon, and thats it! Shop! Nother more, no Kindle crap, no Streaming crap, just shopping for what its made for.

Be smart Amazon, stay focused on what u do best. Invest in faster shipping times instead.

1up if u agree.

It's not about feeling "threatened" - don't be so simplistic in your thinking, it's about Amazon... who not many people have much respect for.

In related news: I've just released a one-dimensional phone - I can show you it if you like...

Actually I really like your concept of a one-dimensional phone. Here is a rendering based on leaked schematics:

I like shopping amazon but for sure I'm not buying their smartphones, tablets or whatever devices they plan on making.

They just don't seem like a high tech company.

I think the same thing was said about Apple before the iPhone...

With a statement like this you pretty much showed that you have no idea what you are talking about fanboy. Amazon has some amazing technology (and so does Google).

Competition is good and all the apple fanboys in this forum are absolutely ridiculous. Why the hell would you defend a company (to this ridiculous degree) that doesn't give a rats ass about you? I like Apple products, but if anyone is making a better product I'll buy it.

expect 2GB of RAM in A8 devices.

The latest news says 1GB, which would piss me off. If I'm on contract through the end of 2016 on an iPhone 6 how will 1GB of ram on a 64-bit processor work out? Not that well.

3D... AGAIN? If Nintendo & every TV company in the business blew it, why do Amazon think they're gonna make it work?

L_O_L

It's like 2009 all over; come one guys, try to diversify; we no more need 3D than we need *ANOTHER* smart phone platform.

since our eyes see in 3d, 3d screens and tv's are inevitable. it will just take a while for it to be of acceptable quality. I think it's similar to how digital cameras sucked at the beginning, now they're better than film in every way.

By the time the technology catches up and become ubiquitous on televisions, laptops and mobile devices, the arguments against 3D will seem as pointless as arguments against stereo audio and FM radio from AM listeners.

Unlimited Texting via Amazon Prime Subscription? :D

Omg!!!!!!

Can you imagine a world with unlimited texting????!
Geez, just wow- omg, yay... wow!!!!!
I just hope Amazon helps usher us in to this crazy fantasy world you've imagined.
I just can't get over the thought of what it would be like - unlimited texting!!!!

It's only tricking your parallax into imagining a body is in 3D space because the brain extrapolates position from parallax. Notice, that's not the way you see 3D for the most part. Mostly, you go with nuances about surface detail. See how 3D everything is and watching. Yes, in an extreme case, your brain can do the processing to interpret vanishing points that aren't really there. But mostly we use detail and richness of color, and understanding physics on a basic level, to establish the three dimensions out of two. Anybody think a lover, whatever your choice, is not 3D?

That's why trickery is used, and it's why a large slice of the possible audience just gets sick when they were VR glasses. The two things work together.

4K or 8K is the best way to see things in three dimensions. A good picture has depth of focus, of colour, they create a space around them. Playing the trick with the red and green glasses -- even if it's with polarizers, etc. -- tricks the brain and tells it stuff that the 2D is saying NO to. I like outer space movies in 3D, because you can float there and have no other cues than the stereo effect.

Not sure if serious??
Almost none of that has any basis in reality.

I dunno....
Let me play devil's advocate -
Although Amazon has SUGGESTED some cool tech in the last few years (drones dropping off packages... Jeff Bezos' patent of a cell phone airbag).. the only tech I can think of that it has recently DELIVERED that is impressive is its Silk Browser.. leveraging cloud computing in an amazing way by offloading processing to their servers.
Also... I'm not sure the poster replied to actually did anything to incur your wrath... They weren't "sticking up" for Apple at all. They didn't even mention Apple. They merely noted that a warehouse style delivery company doesn't seem as techie to them as a standard phone manufacturer.
That's hardly a "fanboy" opinion, bro - chill with the vitriol, yeah?
