Do you really believe that Amazon don't make a profit at the end of the year because they really "don't make any profit".. Wow. So naive...

Huh? It's fact Amazon rarely makes a quarterly or annual profit. Google "Amazon profit" & you'll find plenty of articles like this. Or just read Amazon's annual report & bypass the middleman.

Yeah Apple, take note. We dont need your iWatch playing into others space.

I didn't know "SmartWatches" was a "space" yet. At best it's a niche at this point, but hardly a legit product category.

Looks like it's time to upgrade from my FaceBook phone....

Ask any kid who owns a Ninetnedo 3DS...they turn the 3D off. Look at the sales of 3D TVs....they can't convince the purchasers to pony up another $200 for the 3D version. Now, it certainly is a gimmick. If they came out the holodeck technology, that would be different, but they are not even close.

As I said, and has always been the case. People can and will produce the best they can at any point in history.

Henry ford could not of made a Ferarri and the write brothers, a Boeing 747. they did what they could at the time.

Current 3D has been tried, it got some hype. the poor efforts died off. Some people with nice set ups probably still enjoy 3D movies.

As tech moves forward now ways to implement 3D will come along.

3D is not and never will be forgotton, it will just improve and improve at time goes by and tech improves.

The next big, and could be BIG thing is going to be the 3D headsets (Oculus Rift etc) so, you will feel you are IN an environment, not just looking at it.

This COULD be big.

I'm a big Amazon and Kindle fan. But, another phone...? It would have to indeed be magical to make me give up the useful Apple ecosystem.

U can load play store apps onto the kindle fire alongside the amazon store stuff... Not exactly Apple level of closed in eh?..
.

Umm..... NO.
You are either being genuinely deceitful or are completely ignorant of the Amazon/Google rivalry relationship.
They do NOT "allow" you to load playstore, and discourage it (& indeed, try to hide the fact that you're running Android at all).
You can root your Fire if you're techie & don't mind voiding your warranty (though I'd hardly consider this Amazon "letting" you do it any more than Apple "lets" you jailbreak), or you can follow this fairly complicated process to once again skirt what Amazon wants you to do & side load apps.

Even that does NOT give you Android Market; you must find the APKs elsewhere & hope they're untouched/virus-free.

I thought fingerprint sensors were abandonned after that Android phone (Motorola i think?) because it just doesn't matter in a smartphone.

Lol, if you're trying to convince us that Amazon's fake 3D approach will be as equivalently vastly better than the HTC Evo 3D as the TouchID is superior to Motorola's Atrix fingerprint "solution", you may have an uphill battle sir.

Im guessing there were similar reactions to yours when Apple announced it was going to release a phone.

Not really. Apple is a vertically integrated hardware/software manufacturer....from Day ONE. With the iPhone it wasn't about releasing a phone, it was about Apple breaking into a market dictated by the service providers - most notably AT&T and Verizon.

All these other companies are throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks, even if hardware/software integration was never their nature. They are all Apple Inc. wannabe's.

Yeah Apple, take note. We dont need your iWatch playing into others space.

Well Apple is a hardware company, and a "smartwatch" is hardware, no? I don't see Apple building out a search engine or a social network.

Agreed, although they did give Ping a go, but it really wasn't the same kind of thing as Facebook (or even Twitter for that matter).

You lost all credibility there.

So as long as a company makes any kind of hardware, they are allowed to move into other tech spaces. Got you. As Amazon have the Kindle which is hardware, that should be ok then. ;)

How? By telling the truth?

What kind of hardware did Amazon manufacture before the Kindle?

Ohhh, got you!

3D could be a great user interface component. If you combine a 3D display with a 3D camera you can track finger gestures made in mid air. For example with a 2D touch screen you have "pinch" but in 3D you might have "grab"

That said I doubt Amazon will add anything to the Android user interface. But they could.

What Amazon bring is a willing ness to accept VERY thin profit margins. Apple wants something like 30% or more. Amazon runs on 1/4 of that. So these phones could be very low priced. I hope so, Apple needs some competition

I'm waiting for the day when the unlocked smart phone is under $200. If anyone will do that it's Amazon.

And Nokia started by producing rubber boots. (You can keep the lame joke that they would be better off doing so again for yourself - they were market leaders in mobile phones for many years.)

Point is (and I personally don't even anticipate an Amazon phone at all): It's ridiculous that you don't seem to allow companies to enhance and redefine themselves. Another word for this is stagnancy.

Well actually, no, it's quite a bit different, and your'e really grasping now.

How is it different?

Apple diversified into markets they had never been present in.
Just like when the "Google Phone" was announced all those years ago.

What about the example someone gave regarding Nokia? They originally sold boots but moved onto become the mobile giant back in the early 00's.

I hope so. That would imply that phones have become very low priced commodity items. Like buy 12 cups of coffee get free smart phone. In 20 years maybe.

Could be as soon as this year. Samsung must have warehouses full of "shipped" (just ask Strategy ANALytics and IDC) but unsold "smartphones".

I'm not trying to convince anyone. Just saying that you don't know how they'll implement it, and that it could be something good.
Just like previous implementation of fingerprint sensors were bad (and in the case of the GS5, apparently still is!), and Apple made something good from it. Who knows what Amazon could do? Maybe they have a good idea with it and it'll change the experience - in good.

Why put "don't make any profit" in quotes? Your words/grammar, not mine.

I'm merely trying to differentiate between the two sentences.. that have the same words but different meanings..

No deceit.. I have no agenda. I honestly thought I'd read that u can load non Amazon apps onto the kindle.. it must have been sideloading apk's... My bad... As.they say in parts of the world.that are .. how do I put this.. a.bit slow...

Is Amazon targeting bankruptcy?

Amazon Fire Tablet? Total flop.
Amazon Fire TV? Disaster waiting to happen.
Amazon Smartphone? Nobody wants this.

tablet sold millions.. how do you know no one wants.the phone.. the fire hd is a fine bit of kit..

LOL. Gotta laugh seeing "Amazon" and "profit" in the same sentence since Amazon rarely has a profit. Sort of like Mr. Softy's gaming products--lose money on every sale, and make it up in volume.:p

They spent a massive ammount of their profit on R@D and accusitions to make the business better, not the balance sheet... So at the end of the yr it looks like they have broke even, but in truth. The company has grown.. the day they stop growing, they will make large profits..
