I’m worried the app has been quietly shelved

Nope. I bought the ATV 4K based on Apples promise the app would be coming later this year. It's bad enough if they don't deliver before the end of the year, it's a an illegal deceptive sales practice if it never comes at all. Apple won't let that happen.

I think it has been shelved. I think it was suppose to come out when Prime premiered Thursday Night Football but after the Apple TV disappeared from the Amazon store they most likely decided not to bother to release the app because it might affect there bottom line. Benzo is the richest man alive and he is worried about his bottom line. Wait they want to sell there new slow POS so called 3rd Gen FTV which is slower than even the 1st Gen FTV.

Well then Apple better get ready for the class action lawsuits ...

I agree. But I wonder who the blame should be on. Apple for all intents probably knew the app was coming but if amazon cancelled it shouldn’t the blame fall to them. Apple may have been duped just as much as the rest of us.

But with that, it they know it’s shelved then they need to come out and say it.

Ugh. I really don’t want to use my PS4 for streaming. The remote sucks and the console sucks too much power.

I actually have a FireTV stick, but Amazon shut down support for international Prime Video on their FireTV’s shortly after the service launched. Great job, Bozos.

Roku is still on Amazon, and they're the most popular in sales...

The Roku app is pretty bad. It is slow and has streaming issues where it will keep dropping down to SD video. The same goes with the PS3, PS4, Nvidia Sheild app. So I think the ATV app would do the same. On the FTV it stays at HD 1080p no problem which means Amazon wants you to use the FTV so they can shove there stupid promos of there shows and riddle the UI with ads.

Bummer... I sort of came to the same conclusion after no longer finding ATV on Amazon. Ugh... why can't they just play nicely and let the best hardware folks compete on equal grounds?

I just grabbed a Roku Ultra. Not only do you get Amazons app (works fine) but you also get the un-neutered Vudu app. Roku has the most options by far, why support Amazon by buying a fire tv when you can get them all from a neutral party, Roku.

That I still don't understand. As soon as you play a video you are welcomed with some region error. In my case (Netherlands) it looks like the device thinks it's in the US or UK.

Officially they sell the FireTVs only in US, UK, Germany/Austria and India (?) I think.

So far the only way to play Amazon Prime Video here in an "easy" way is the Nvidia Shield TV. I don't think PS4 (too much power), X1 (same thing), Android TV (smart TV = RIP due to poor SW support and lousy SoCs) and iOS + Airplay are viable options.

I'm tempted to just ask my contact in DE to get me a Roku Premiere. Seems pretty cheap for an upper range model from last year.

EDIT: And I asked him to order me one. Look for the Amazon app to come to the Apple TV in the next few days ;)

It's just a joke. I bought a Roku primarily to use with Amazon Prime Video, so the line of thought is that, of course, the app will be out on the Apple TV soon.

I plan to use the Roku for Danish Netflix as well (switching between US and Off with Getflix sometimes causes problems), so it doesn't matter to me too much when the Prime app comes to the ATV.

Only thing I use AmazonVideo for is Grand Tour.

They have until Dec8 before I'm miffed.

My money is definitely on Bozos holding this up.

Mine too... I figured asking them both together is like when you know which kid is the guilty party, but ask both at the same time. The new aftv is backordered like 2-3 weeks, so don't know wtf they are still holding back the atv app. It just feels like spite now...
