Where did you get that statistic from. There are many out there that have full AV setups with 55 to 100 inch TV's that support both.
Not enough to have it as an always on streaming feature in my opinion. I am assuming it would be much cheaper to give everything in 1080p and then offer HDR and Atmos as an optional extra due to bandwidth costs. Amazon will have the some problem use household consumers do, the higher and better bandwidth we want our ISP charges a higher price meaning the network company Amazon uses to push it's data to it's customers will charge Amazon more for larger bandwidth use and if Amazon is noticing many of it's customers are not using hardware capable of using HDR and Atmos, it makes no sense in paying their network provider the higher bandwidth price. Remember, this is the internet therefore Amazon will know what devices are being used to view it's streaming service and they will be able to assess if the device is capable of handling HDR and Atmos content.

So for just $2 more a month I get 2-day delivery for most items! Free delivery! That IS an incredible value! I was happy with the stunning service Prime Video is but to add ALL that shopping power for only $2 more a month is amazing!!!! JEEPERS!!!

Prime Video NOT worth $10/mon maybe not worth $3/month. Unfortunately the cost is buried into Amazon Prime (shipping). I'm trying to convince the spouse to dump it but like the convinience of not have to think (about filling up cart to get free shipping). I wish the Govt. would force unbundling so we could easily figure out what it really costs.

The question is what % of Prime users have such a setup? Even where I live most people can afford it but do't have it because, well, they just want to watch TV.

The odd thing about Only Fans as it started as a site for musicians, etc. to reach fans and make some money. As with all tech, teh adult industry soon co opted it.
Well, they still make music. Sort of :)

This must depend on where you live because I rarely see shipping times more than a single day and at least half of the stuff I order has same day delivery.
I live in downtown Los Angeles and routinely see items unavailable for two day delivery, so yeah this is a real thing regardless of your location.

I wish it was this simple ... I bought two 4K BluRays last year and they don't play on my 4K supporting BluRay Player because the DRM requires an update apparently, which the BluRay Player maker apparently still has not rolled out. I also bought something as basic as some cartoons (Asterix) on BluRay and they refuse to play on my Xbox One as well!
The Panasonic 820 is the player everyone recommends. Worth the investment!

Not a substitute for streaming if that's what your saying. Physical media is great for my most favorite movies to experience in the best possible quality, but by far, the majority of what I've watched (and even really enjoyed) I don't care to own.
Depends how much you watch, and how many different streaming services you subscribe to. I cut a whole bunch and now buy 4K and Blu-ray (upgrading my home theatre prompted me to start collecting again, as the upgraded picture and sound really made a difference), and I only spend a little more each month than I did with all the subs.

Just cancelled my Prime membership - I hesitated but it's not really worth it anymore. I don't order nearly as much stuff as when I did during the pandemic, and I calculated it's will be cheaper to just pay the delivery fee. I never used Prime Video, but all the news about it made me think about Prime in general.

Tell you what, between Netflix, Apple TV, and Plex, I have shied away from the POS that Prime Video has become since they added those annoying ads...Prime, you are already charging me $139/month - for crying out loud, just make it $142 and be done with it. Bone heads!

Never been a no cost tier in any streaming service, ever. Always been a discounted hidden fee in the bundle, ads or no ads. Additionally the concepts of one Price for all, the buffet. The heavy eaters supplemented by the vast majority of customers. The direction streaming going, as it should have been all along. Tiers based on needs and wants. Need four plates of food, go for it. Here’s the extra costs. Fair and balanced pricing. No issues here!

If they had better content, I might care more. Maybe one movie I'm interested to watch every few months.

Back in the day they were putting out some great shows and movies. If they were going to charge a premium, that would have been the time. Now there's hardly ever any new decent content and they want to charge more....bad timing.

On the positive side, most of the services have horrible content and I watch far less tv than ever. Great job!

Stop blaming Amazon, NetFlix, Disney for price hikes/removing of features. They know exactly what they're doing since they got all the relevant data. And the data shows that people either dont care about stuff like this, dont even know about, or don't need it. These providers are just adapting to their users needs.
Oh sweet summer child…no.

They build services, get people on the platform, then nickel and dime to squeeze out everything they can.

The only stream services I am using are Curiosity Stream and Magellan TV, if they start playing dirty games, I will cancel them too. On my list already cancelled are Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hulu Disney, Peacock, You Tube. I can live without them; they can't live without our money.

At this point, Amazon should separate Prime Video from Prime Shipping, and let it stand on its own merit.

Also, the word "Prime" should not imply ad-supported, SDR experience.

Amazon isn't taking away "innovation" as they still offers an ad-free, higher audio quality option. You just have to pay a bit more for it. Lots of other streaming services have ad-supported plans including Disney+. Hulu, Max, Netflix, etc. Subscribers have a choice.

Today's ad-free plans are also much cheaper (adjusting for inflation) than what premium channels could cost back in the 1980s. For example, ad-free Max is $15.99/month while HBO with less content, no on-demand functionality, etc. 40 years ago was around twice that after adjusting for inflation.
My issue is that in the email about the ads they mentioned nothing about losing Dolby Vision/Atmos.

I rarely view Prime. We get it because the wife pays for free Amazon delivery, but the content is not really my cup of tea. I won't be watching it at all now.

The wrong Amazon is burning (and not just for the reason that they get away with this)

This is Ridiculous, I paid for a year of prime in December and then they added ads. how is that even legal? Probably the fine print that is a mile long. They also used to guarantee 2-day shipping. now they just give excuses.
Their shipping dates are so unreliable I’m surprised they haven’t been sued yet. Needless to say, I got rid of my prime after just a couple of months when the promo period ended.

Besides, more people should be supporting their local businesses.
