Guys and gals, sad to say I’ve pulled the plug on The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. Some of it has to do with this last season of TWD, but I’m fatigued with post apocalyptic survival morality and people continuously ******* on each other. There is no chance in these stories for happiness, just misery and death, and I need to take a break. :(

I swore I was off of the Walking Dead. I don't watch Fear, tried the first season, hated it. But I heard how Rick is leaving the show and I thought maybe I will just watch this one final season. At least there will be some kind of ending for Rick, even though I will know it wasn't done for good drama but because the actor wanted out.

Just watch the TPTR S3 finale again, it will cheer you up!!! :)
Seriously, I do understand. I still have to watch the second half of the last season.

I bet they both die... Another reason not to watch. But, I could be wrong and they go off to live the most wonderful lives up in the mountains somewhere, where people are all good to one another and there are no zombies crashing the party. :D

You'd more than love Legion Season 2, entire episodes spent on imagery to cover a single plot point. It's called economical writing. :p It's pretty, but with 2 episodes to go in Season 2, if they don't get back to story telling, I'm dumping them. I actually think the writer has too much on his plate to spend adequate time with this.

I have to watch it then!!! What a dream ! :) heck I enjoyed (and still do) spending countless minutes watching a guy sweep the floor at the Roadhouse :)

Makes me wonder, how the writers will facilitate these exits. If anything, I’d be interested in seeing how it’s orchestrated and if characters actually die or just fade into the abyss like Heatho_O

However, I’d be fine with Maggie meeting her demise for her current stance against Rick.

Maybe Rick can ride off in the sunset.

Rick deserves to die and Maggie should run off into the sunset. Rick is a horrible leader and horrible person.

If Rick and Maggie truly leave the show then the writers/producers have a big decision on their hands. According to the source material both characters remain prominent figures in the story. So, if they want to, in any way, remain faithful to the narrative as written then they will have to replace the actors with new ones. Killing Carl was a change from the comic so obviously they can and will do what they want. It would be sad if the writers choose to allow the ebb and flow of actors to dictate their story but I guess that's a major risk with the medium as actors come and go.

I wonder with those two characters leaving, if that is in fact true, they kill the show off and just focus on FTWD and/or another spin off series. I also wonder if they are going to kill them off completely or leave it open for them to come back. Maybe a spinoff show could be the rise of Negan on his way through or something else.

They do have a few cool story arcs coming up though.

Meteorite. Humans and zombies die. Cockroaches live and dominate the earth.
-The End

You’re welcome.

Reminds me of a movie called "Damnation Alley" with Jan-Michael Vincent and the giant cockroaches!

you cant quit on the show, you are the thread starter. rules are rules

Well after swearing off the show, I decided to watch this season to see what happens to Rick. Figured it would be the closest I will get to see an ending to this show. The new episode really wasn’t that bad, it was good to see them deal with the things like the communities dealing with each other and trying to get back to normal society. I did think it was absolutely ridiculous that whatshisface tried to take a hit out on Maggie. He’s lucky to still be protected by the people of the hilltop and it just seemed like it was done as a way to get rid of the character. I do have one question: what was the deal with wagon and the steps? Obviously they needed the wagon on that level to put the plow on it but I’m confused how it then got out. I mean, if it started up the stairs, then they needed to get it back up the stairs which they obviously couldn’t do since the glass floor broke. But if they got it out of the building on that floor, why did they take it down the stairs in the first place. And also, really? Run back for a horse and uh oh a zombie sneaks up on you. Hate those moments.

It was a good and enjoyable episode. Always nice to go up in quality from Fear.

I’m not sure what you mean with the stairs. As far as I understood it, they took it down the stairs, then out the front door. When did it go back up? Wasn’t the glass floor ground level?

I think this season will be very interesting. Of course we know about Rick, but I also heard some old characters make a return (for some flashbacks I suppose). Nostalgia! Also the intro finally changed and shows some interesting images like that helicopter, an unresolved plot point from last season.

I’m confused because didn’t they bring that wagon to the museum? Why wouldn’t it have been on a higher floor if they brought it?

They took the wagon and the plow from the upper floors of the museum, they had to bring down the stairs, and then across the glass floor that had been damaged from a zombie + stone block landing on it in an earlier scene.

The seeds they took, I get it, that's an organic that can't be created, or probably sourced from anywhere else. A wagon though? Easily built, even from an old car/truck chassis - and at the Saviors joint, they've got Eugene and what appears to be a forge, they could reproduce a simple plow using a book - plus with all that ground covered they didn't pass a single sports shop? A boating/fishing store? Any number of places to get a modern canoe? Isn't all that stuff antique and probably fragile?

The whole idea of risking lives over items that would be easy to source from other locations (and better/newer versions), or build, just seemed a little kooky. The set piece itself was cool, it just doesn't stand up to any scrutiny - and come on horse-dude, you can't slip up and cut a horse loose without just stumbling into ONE zombie? How did you survive this long ... ?

Gotcha. And totally agree about everything you posted. Also, not one walker could manage to bite the king. Come on.

I decided at the end of last season, that it would be the end for me. So I neither watched nor recorded it last night.

I'll check back in here though to see how it's going for the few who are still sticking with it.

Just watched the first episode...

I’m on the fence.

While I want to watch to see how they write Rick off...I also cringe at how some of this feels forced because of Andy’s exit.

The only thing that seems to matter is how they are immediately setting up Rick vs Maggie & Daryl.

Maggie’s immediate heel turn felt rushed. Has she just been stewing all of these years and now hit her tipping point? But I guess Gregory’s assasination plot was the catalyst.

Ironic Daryl had that speech with Rick about wanting to go back, then he’s on the execution commitee upon arrival.

I still don’t understand either why they’re out so far in the city. If it’s been years, they’ve just now ventured out that far? How are the walkers thriving that long?? Even so, most of what they need industrial wise can be made on site. Again, even so, if you’re going out that far, why not move all colonies/communities to the city if you’re doing all of that. Sometimes the logic seems off...

Word is that Maggie is leaving the show this season as well. Perhaps that is the reason for the rush.

Yeah, the last report I read was Lauren Cohan would only be in 6 episodes of S9, so it'll be interesting to see how they distribute her role through the season - S9 is 16 episodes, 8, then a break, 8 more in 2019.

I read they're also introducing the Whisperers plot this season (FWIW, the casting choice for Alpha and Beta are kind of cool ...), wonder if that'll be one of the elements of the big cliffhanger in EP8 (at the mid-season break) ...
