I think I've posted about this before, but for all of those who say the show is dragging, I believe that's intentional on the writers and producers part. They don't want the television show to catch up to the comics. Look at the complications that has caused for Game of Thrones. The differences we are starting to see with plot line and characters will eventually make the show so different from the comic that they can do whatever they want and folks will see them as different entities, but we're not at that point just yet.

Negan is one of the most popular characters in the TWD universe so developing the story between he and Rick is where they are putting all of their energy right now and is a good place to take a deeper dive thereby dragging things out. In fact, seeing as how there is one episode left in this season I'm not sure they are going to wrap that up in just one episode. We'll see.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, did anyone see Talking Dead last night? It was absolutely hysterical when the person they selected as "TWD Greatest Fan" came on the show and said something that happened reminded her of Game of Thrones. Chris Hardwick played it off by joking that he didn't know what Game of Thrones was. Seriously, what a disaster and too funny.

@Huntn, Shiva died in the comic saving Ezekiel from walkers just like she did in the show. No change there.

I had high hopes since season 2 (?) when Rick's daughter was born. I thought for sure her blood would hold the cure.

And what about the helicopter?!

There is no way Negan stays 3 steps ahead all the damn time. I'm getting tired of it. This arc has just lasted way too long. They can't keep devoting an entire season to a single arc.

I still love the show. But two things bother me.

As AlliFlowers stated, the story arcs are just lasting way too long. They could stand to throw in some side-story every few episodes to break it up a bit, if nothing else.

And second, how many times will Rick & the gang hatch an elaborate plan, only to have one person go off on their own for a futile reason resulting in the entire plan going to heck in a hand basket?

I know, I find it pretty hysterical that I can easily go with the whole the dead come back to life as flesh eating zombies premise, but Negan's superpowers completely wreck my suspension of disbelief :D

There's always that one thing. One of my favorite movies is The Abyss. Belief suspended with no problem until the end when the alien ship (with hero standing on the bow) rises from way below. And he doesn't get the bends!!!!

I think the idea of there being any kind of "cure" is not a direction the writers/producers care about. Since the CDC part in one of the early seasons that notion hasn't been explored. From what I have seen and read, the writers/producers really aren't interested in explaining how the zombie apocalypse started or how it could be stopped. This used to bother me and I was disappointed that Fear the Walking Dead didn't give us more information about the origin of things. I thought that show was going to help us understand the beginning of it all, but it didn't go there. As many have said the show isn't truly about zombies at all, it's about the survivors and how they adapt to this new world.

@AlliFlowers, I could be totally wrong, but I've resigned myself to believe that we'll never get those mysteries solved.

But what about the helicopter?! They may yet go off on another tangent. There are times where I actually prefer Z Nation. They play it mostly for laughs, but the plots are always good, and they don't go off on these lengthy arcs.

I haven't tried Z Nation yet. I'll give that a look. My theory is that the helicopter is from another community of sorts. It could be one that is made up of former military folks or could even be some kind of surviving form of government. But, even if it is, I don't think a "cure" will be on the table or part of the story arc.

Nerd voice: uh, alli, one of the characters clearly points that out and another character says “they must have done something to us!”

Z Nation is pretty silly fun, and iZombie is a blast!

I'm assuming the helicopter is there because in the script is reads, "Characters look up and see a helicopter ..."

That's about the only logic for anything anymore :D

Agreed on both other shows. Although I don't believe iZombie has left itself anywhere to go from here.

I was pretty disappointed with last night's season finale. Talk about Deux ex machina! WTH?! Aaron and the ladies just happen to show up in time to save Hilltop, and Eugene finally developed a conscience?

And now Maggie, Jesus, and Darryl are going to turn on Rick and Michonne because they allowed Negan to live?

Yea, I was just not happy at all.

Pretty satisfying season finale for me. All elements from the past two seasons came together and led to what was ultimately a fairly predictable finale, which I like better than shocking (in a bad way) with an annoying cliffhanger like we've had in the past.

At this point I wouldn't have been too surprised if the Negan plot would go into a third season, so it's a good thing that's mostly wrapped up now (or is it?, well whatever). There's a group of walkers coming, some other group of people has a helicopter, main characters turn on each other, most people are still alive... An OK turn of events I guess.

Yeah, I think it was a reasonable way to end the war.

Imprisoned Negan brings that in sync with the comics, though he won’t have Carl to interact with.

Sending Dwight on his way was better for me than having him take his comic role in becoming a rough Daryl equivalent.

I’ll need to reread the books of “A New World” to see how Maggie took Negan’s imprisonment. But the tension between Hilltop and Alexandria on this will be interesting. The door is open for Gregory to meet his comic book end, and that satisfies me.

The huge horde does make me wonder if yhat’s our first preview of the next big bad.... The Whisperers.

I’ve never read the comics, but I like that they’re both keeping true to them and choosing their own path at the same time. The discussion whether those decisions are good or bad is entirely not my problem :)

Eugene in the clutch!
Rick finally gets a W.
Maggie, Jesus & Daryl turn heel?!

Find out next time on Dragonball Z!!!!!!

Seriously though...if we had info on how the outbreak happened, this season finale could have been enough to end the whole series. The only logical thing to feed off of is drama and betrayal...throw in endless hordes and new communities and we have the same rinse and repeat cycle over and over again. I guess we know what the end goal is, to survive, but will it ever happen? o_O

You mean info on the outbreak as in a depiction of what happened? That’s in Fear The Walking Dead.

Just got around to watching the season finale today. Overall, even though it’s been a long while since I read the comic, I remember the narrative there being more concise and satisfying. There Carl lives and even develops a relationship with Negan (in jail). But I’ve stopped reading it.

As far as the show, I’m happy Eugene found a backbone, I’m happy they more or less wrapped up this conflict. I liked that Dwight survived and the message of hope after slogging though a bit too much Negan. This story had too much back and forth and even added more story elements with these other groups which felt muddled to me. Carl had a meaningless death. Yeah, I buy it as a creative choice to illustrate the reality of the post apocalyptic world, but it was not satisfying.

I’m in wait and see mode about the targeting Negan conspiracy. I’ll probably continue watching. This story is best when it’s not in full scale war mode which reduced the quality and poignancy of the narrative imo.

So I’m quite new here, does the topic include Fear? I feel weird about the crossover and I’m curious if it’s known how the timeline suddenly changed.

Referencing The Abyss, that is mentioned in the movie, a comment about we should all be dead, their survival attributed to the sea people’s advanced but unknown technology. :)

I honestly thought they could have ended the show for good on the season finale. They could have steered clear of saving Negan like the comics, and just killed him and been done with it. A large part of me wished they did. I use to love the show, but now it's losing my interest. I hate when shows I loved like this go on too long. It kind of ruins what you loved so much about them.

I gotta say the Eugene double double cross was a nice surprise for me. I really thought the writers had decided to take his character in a different direction from the comics. And, if they were going to restore him to the group, I had no idea how they were going to pull it off. The scale and perfect timing of his move makes his return to the group plausible for me.

I'm glad the All Out War story arc is over and we can move on to new stuff. Negan is an important character and I understand why they took so long to cover the first part of his story. Now to see where they go from here with him. Will they stay faithful to the the rest of his story as told in the comics. They are dropping some hints for those who know what happens next, but we'll see.

I understand that some have lost interest in the show, but I still find it enjoyable.

I've watched Fear since the beginning. They never at any point even hinted as to what caused the zombie apocalypse.

Okay, I thought you meant just the way it looked when the outbreak started happening as TWD cuts from before to after in the first episode. I guess we’ll never know where it came from. What about a cure? Was pretty exciting when it seemed Eugene had the solution.
