i think Adam was the better performer - solid voice, great stage presence etc... he has entertainer written all over him.

Don't get me wrong - I thought Kris was great too.

But I agree with leekohler - I think Adam lost b/c of his sexuality (or questionable....not sure if it was ever confirmed), but regardless....it's a shame that society still focuses on images and ideology rather than what the show is supposed to be about - talent.

both guys are talented, but I think Adam shone brighter.

I do wonder now what will happen to both guys.

I've never been into Idol before this season - I'm aware of the bigger successes, but is there a website that details all (or most of the contestants) and what they've done since they've been on the show?

My roommate and I were both kind of pissed. I thought that for the first time, maybe America could move past this stuff. I was proven wrong once again.
 
I don't know, I guess I just expect people to vote for the talent. My daughter and I were honestly shocked at the results. Kris is talented and all, but he's really forgettable, to me anyway. Adam's talent was nothing short of amazing, and he is an excellent entertainer. (My daughter said that she's really pissed that he's gay.:p)
 
AT&T announced 38 million votes came from Arkansas alone. There were only 100 million cast. That's incredible.
 
My wife was a Kris fan from the beginning. I don't really follow it enough to generally pick favorites but I remember thinking I'd like Adam at first. His look is very much in line with what type of music I'm generally a fan of, but then he started doing all that screaming (and it wasn't a punk type scream, but rather a someone is squeezing my balls in a vice type scream) and that was a complete turn off. He didn't even have a rock voice (at least not what I'd call a rock voice) when he wasn't doing his screaming.

I would have liked Adam if he sang a little more like say, Axl Rose or something like that. Instead, his voice is something I can see being very well suited to the theatre.

Kris isn't exactly my cup of tea vocally either. But it's pretty laid back stuff and I could see myself enjoying it as long as it doesn't go too far down the pop road. I like a little Jack Johnson or Peter Bradley Adams every now and then, and if Kris did something in that vein (which I think he could do very well) then I'd probably give it a listen.

In the end, the contestant I'd personally most likely buy an album from probably didn't even audition. And the only two contestants that I've ever had even a little bit of interest in were Daughtry and David Cook. Daughtry went a little too far down the Creed path and I'm not a fan in the end. Cook doesn't record anything like the way he performed on the show either, and has been a disappointment in my opinion.

I think a reason why Kris won was the "tweens". There is army of 9-12 year old girls who can text faster than you can talk. Kris isn't as "scary" as Adam and Kris got the tween vote. Adam was consistently amazing and I would vote for him once or twice if at all, but not the 10 or 15 times that kid with a cell phone would.

Were churches pushing for Lambert to lose? "Everyone go home and vote against Adam, because god dislikes a gay lover. If you don't vote it's just like voting for him"
 
Ok, all defenses down gentlemen. Do you honestly think that sexual orientation cost him this title? I'm really curious what you think. Nevermind, if you answer, the powers that be will move this to the PRSI.:) Just thinking out loud anyway, cause I would never let that affect my vote.

No. I think his appearance lost him the title. And his mannerisms. I will be honest, femmy guys really throw me off and I always feel a little animosity toward them on first introduction. (sorry, I can't help it!)

I didn't think he was "femmy" at all. I thought he was totally hot. His appearance did nothing but make me want to vote for him. (Straight, 42 year old female here.)

Exactally! I'm sure there are a fair share of adults that watch Idol, but the ones who vote are mostly Teenage Girls, who aren't going to vote for Adam because he is "weird." to them. I will say though that he got this far, which is something.

I don't think sexual orientation directly cost him the vote. I doubt there was a conscious campaign out there not to vote for Adam because he's gay. Although I wouldn't put it past the religious right. As I said I just think that Adam didn't appeal to the voting demographic, and that's why he lost, granted it was because he acted, and dressed a bit differently, and expressed him-self, but I don't think too many "tweens" were like "oh my god he's gay I can't vote for him."

If were talking about looks, personally I find Kris much more attractive, but that shouldn't matter in a singing competition.


Personally I like both of them, and they will both probably go far, even without winning.

I am speechless. I thought Adam would win.

I think Adam's mistake through the season was relying too much on the power voice singing in those high octaves. With that range, a little goes a long way and Mariah Carey is an example of someone who can sing high but holds back more often than not.

That being said, Adam still outclassed Kris on every show. Kris had the ultra humble, shy thing going and that could have been a plus.

This finale will go down in history as the biggest surprise so far.
 
The finale was awesome, especially with Queen coming out at the end. I was freaking out. (HUGE Queen fan here)

That said, my Mom and I voted for Adam for the full 4 hours and I checked dialidol.com before going to bed and Kris was ahead, so I was expecting him to win. I'm happy for Kris, but Adam deserved to win. He was miles ahead of all the other contestants. He was the only true performer and that goes a long way with me.

I think Kris was SHOCKED when he won and didn't know what to say. I'm happy for him, but Adam should have won.

That's frustrating and irritating, but judging from my husband's comments, I guess you are right.:mad: At least he made it all the way, though. As far as I'm concerned, he did win.

I wish I had recorded that show. It was the best yet, in my opinion, but then that's cause those were all MY bands performing.:)

If that's the message, how did he make it to the end? Kris won because Gokey's fans voted for him. Plain and simple. Don't make this into an issue that it's not.
