For once, I really expected that America might forget labels and vote for talent. I am disappointed once again. That's OK. Lambert can go and make the record he wants now.
Why? America will always vote for the mediocre as long as it fits their image. It's not that surprising. People in the US do not want to be challenged, they want to be comforted and reassured.

I think thats what they did. I think most of Adam's appeal was his look not his abilities. I do see Adam having a career but I think overall Kris was the better all around talent.

I look forward to Adam's untainted by Idol record. It's gonna be damn good. I'm still sad that America can't recognize talent when they see it. Although, I will say this- he got this far.

All of the top 5 at least will get the opportunity to make an album. Once they get the cheesy tour over with, we'll get to see what each one can do professionally.

I don't know what is in the contract but I think Cowell still has recording rights with all the finalists. He gets something like 50% of the profits.
I think that's only on X Factor. I believe Simon Fuller (American Idol producer and creator) manages the two finalists. However, I think the label varies.

I think Cowell sort of stabbed Fuller in the back in the UK by creating the X Factor, which is basically a copy cat of Pop Idol. The X Factor winner is signed to Cowell's management team and record label.
