no one goes home tonight. its idol gives back night.
i didnt watch last night but i figured they didnt even allow voting, sort of funny if they did.
Good point.
I do remember that (sometimes) they don't kick people off on that night, but take the total of two weeks and kick off a person or two the following week (next week).
However, now we have the "save" that the judges used on Mike, thus maybe needing to kick off a contestant to keep on schedule.
It's really hard to predict what will happen.
My guess is that they will kick off a contestant. They already saved Mike and if they don't kick anybody off, people may tire of the show thinking it's not a contest anymore.
At the same time, not kicking people off will have people who have not tuned into this season get interested and tune in. Hype is usually good for this show.
The way I found Idol was at the finale of season 1, when I heard all this talk and media hype about who would win, "The ready made for pop guy Justin, or the real singer Kelly." Justin had the crowd, mostly girls, but Kelly's talent won over the voters in general. It's what we are seeing with Tim Urban.
While Tim is getting better overall, the studio audience crowd totally loves him. Lee, on the other hand, may not get the same applause, but is far better than Tim, imho. Tim has the teen idol pop star look with an OK voice, while Lee is the one without the girls wooing, but has the best voice in this competition on the guys side.
I hope talent wins the day, not looks. Arguably, the least camera friendly pair are Lee and Crystal, but they have the voices.
However, sometimes, the singer has the looks but loses in the end, like Adam Lambert. Kris Allen only deserved the crown more because he was the most improved, and most versatile on the show. Adam already was a star and that was evident.
I can see how people didn't vote for Adam because either they were sure he was safe or knew that he was well on his way to stardom already. And look who has the bigger career right now. Adam could have got kicked off even earlier, like a Chris Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson, and still have become destined for stardom.
The first time I saw a singer in Hollowood Week on Idol that I knew was definitely going to go platinum was when I saw Fantasia. She not only went platinum, from what I saw in her early in the season, she went multi-platinum.
