Tim has looks, and that's all, and the reason he is still here. He gets the biggest cheers each and every week, but if you listen, it's teen and twenty something girls who do the cheering. He has as much rock and roll street cred as Donny Osmond or Leif Garrett. :) He is so so boring, I would far more enjoy watching a Katie concert. Watching a Tim concert would put me to sleep after the third song. Tim should be an actor or male model, but stay away from singing.

The only good thing about Tim becoming a rock star is it would be great for bra and pantie sales, as tons of female fans would be tossing their undergarments up on the stage. It's insane how his picture has gone up on blogs and how girls have just gone crazy over this guy. Remember when he sang his boring song but there were the rabid female fans trying to touch him? It shows part of this show is not about singing, but about sex appeal. Now if Tim had Adam Lambert's voice, then I can see the screaming female fans, but Tim has those screaming fans nonetheless.

I have the awful feeling that Tim will outlast Katie, Andrew, Didi, Aaron, and Casey.

Crystal, Mike, Lee, and Sibohan are safe from Tim's loyal female following and will advance to the top 4. I think this could be Lee's contest to lose.

Here's my prediction. In the finals, the judges use their one save and will "save" Crystal, thus making another finals, to boost the sagging ratings of this season. Lee vs. Crystal, twice. It's the only way to bring Idol back to it's former top status.

Agreed. It's probably going to come down to Lee and Crystal. They've been the most consistent. Mike might ease his way in there too. And little Aaron could also surprise us.

As for Tim v Katie concerts- I'd skip both.

If Mike can be like a couple of weeks ago when he made Kara cry, it's his contest to lose.

But last week he didn't have the same moment. He may be chasing that elusive great performance.

Lee and Crystal are very consistent and improving a little each week. Lee more than Crystal imho. If Crystal can get out on stage and not hide behind that guitar, she can become a clear favorite, but I don't know if she knows how to sing w/o guitar and address the audience like a rock star.

Lee can do Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Velvet Revolver, or Soundgarden and really be dynamic. It's just a matter of time before he shows us he's a high energy rocker. I remember Constantine and Bo Bice ripping up the rock and roll genre a few years ago. Lee can be in that same category and get signed.

I also think he can be sensitive like Elliot Yamin and score a hit with an R&B song and get famous, too. Lee has the biggest range so far I think.

If everybody evolves it will be Lee, Mike, and Crystal in that order and a 123 punch and I hope those three can heat up the dead season so far, assuming they improve to the level of past years' contestants.

UPDATE 3/30/10:

Mike did well and he's certainly in it near the top. No surprise there.

Crystal changed it up and pulled it off.

Lee was great as usual, but Sibohan (while good imho) didn't convince the judges.

I think the big surprise and most improved was Andrew and if he does it again, he can enter the top 4 in my book.

This could come down to Lee, Mike, Andrew, and Crystal in the end with Crystal winning it if she defies Simon and just kills it on the piano and shows us she's more than just a good singer with a guitar.

This may sound weird, but if Crystal changes up her hair and drops the slightly dour look and smiles more, she can play the best all around singer in this competition. Aaron and Didi could still surprise us and I liked Didi better than the judges did.

I think Tim Urban may go home tomorrow. The girls really love him, and he could be safe for one more week and this could put Didi in jeopardy.

Katie and Casey improved a little and should be safe. Casey moved a bit more onstage which helped and Katie picked a song more in her range even though it was a big song. Katie is no Christina Aguilera like some judges think, but neither was Christina at age 16 or 17.

And just when I think I know who will be at the top, Didi, Katie, and Aaron can do well if they bank on their youthful looks and do a youthful song. The teen vote, which is probably a large chunk of the vote, can fall in line behind these three quite instantly.

Casey, unfortunately, let's his age show and the only one who can appear old and win AI is somebody like Taylor Hicks who had enthusiasm to counter his advanced years.

Simon has become a more interesting judge in the past few weeks coming more into his old self of picking fights with the judges, and especially Kara. He just needs to make the fight as convincing as he did against Paula and then this show will do better.

I can't wait for him to belt out a few hard rock or punk hits.

He's the one with the versatile voice and willing to shed his initial shyness.

Where I am worried is country week or big band week, but if he nails those, he will win easily this season.

The guy also does folk and R&B like a pro.
 
Sibohan - what the hell was that. she was sooo bad. wow. I think that performance took her out of the running for top 5 for sure. it was bad.

Lee - even though he comes across as boring to me, I can see him winning. he reminds me way too much like kris allen but I guess safe wins...

Andrew - best performance for me by far. I would buy that whole song on itunes now if i could. it was great.

and i knew Simon was going to say that about Tim Urban. I said to myself Simon should just say...Tim you are safe..dont worry..only then is Tim not safe since his fans wont vote for him because they think he is safe. reverse psychology.

didi- felt so bad for her. what do you think she was singing about. a bad ex-breakup or something? lost parents? really strange performance.

katie - meh, big mike - meh, 16 year old - meh. dreads - meh. casey - meh.

Didi, Tim and Katie are all going home before Lee or Mike, as I have not seen tonight's show yet but it will air in an hour. Crystal will possibly go top 4 as will Andrew. Katie can slip into top 4 at best.

Didi was better than Tim imho, though not one who could win this whole contest. Now there are only three girls left with Katie in danger (probably) of going home next week unless she steps it up. Crystal and Sibohan can be left all alone representing the girls but they will at least beat out Aaron and Tim.

My picks:

1) Lee
2) Mike
3) Crystal

4) Andrew as I think he is solidly in top 4 but will need another good week for top 3
5) Sibohan in top 5 but maybe top 4
6) Casey, but he may be #7

7) Aaron, but he could be top 6
8) maybe Katie, but she could be top 6
9) maybe Tim, but he could be #8 at best, and #7 if he does better next week

Depending on next week, this season has been so inconsistent that the top 3 are interchangeable if one of two of them don't hit it out of the park. Andrew could sneak up there if he does so-so and one of the top 3 I predicted on this list just bombs.
 
This season is pretty amazing. Tim has no voice, but he is cute, and so he is still in the game. Pretty embarrassing, actually. Crystal is really great and Lee sounded fantastic Tuesday night. I really do like Casey. It is just his entire attitude that I think I dig. Look at him smile. He is just so happy when he has a guitar in his hands and a mike in front of him. I hope he gets to do it for the rest of his life. :)
 
i noticed that andrew has a ton of youtube videos...they are pretty amazing.


not surprised at didi at all. wouldn't have placed her in top 12 if I had my choice.

anyone know how long sanjaya lasted? that can say where Tim will go.

That would have to be Katie, imho.

What about Mike?

He arguably had the two best performances from the judges point of view this season (one where Kara cried), but at other times Mike was either so-so or just plain bad. I think Mike has the most potential for those "moments" Simon is looking for, but Mike can't deliver them consistently.

I think Lee had his moment this week and really showed the audience that he too can make Kara cry, even though she didn't. If Lee can have another big moment, this contest is Lee and Mike, with my money (right now) on Lee.

Crystal will have to fight between what the other judges say is good for her having changed it up vs. Simon saying she should stay the guitar girl.

Mike is good. he's just not consistent.

Aaron was so-so but saved the song towards the end.
Katie surprised me and I think she will be safe.
Andrew put some energy into his performance but was not quite as good as last week.

Mike turned it up and though some said it was a musical, it was a powerful performance.
Crystal was in top form like she usually is.
But Tim, who I thought would be terrible, had his best night.

Casey really nailed it and had the best performance of the evening.
Siobhan sang everything OK but it wasn't the right song for her (Across the Universe).
Lee I expected to jump out with a high energy song, but instead he was a little underwhelming.

Bottom three will be Tim, Aaron, and Katie with Aaron going home.

Mike, Sibohan, and Andrew will squeak by as the middle of the bunch.

Crystal, Lee, and Casey will be top three, and for the first time I think Casey belongs there.

The contest right now is probably between Lee and Crystal. If the show were to end tonight, it would be pretty close.

I still see Crystal, Siobhan, Andrew/Aaron, Lee as my final 4...

I can't remember one single Casey performance...he's very forgettable...

You could be right- though my hope is that Andrew goes home. I don't care what the judges said, he stinks. He doesn't get it, isn't going to, and doesn't seem to care. I hope Katie goes home, but it will probably be Aaron. Tim's not going anywhere, trust me.

Casey was amazing, as well as Crystal, and Lee was really funny. It was good to see him just be silly for a change.

I knew Casey could play a mean guitar, but I never thought he could show emotion, but he was great last night. If he puts out performances like these, he could win. Maybe there will be a new Casey from now on.

I think Andrew may make top six but I don't see him winning this contest. Lee is there, Crystal is there, and Mike can be a threat. Even Sibohan can top Andrew. Tim can pass Andrew based on chick appeal, and Katie may improve and come in 4th if she makes next week as good as this week was over her previous weeks.

Remember Kris Allen? He was barely top six material and late in the season he turned it way up. I still thought maybe Adam deserved to win, but Kris showed up in the last few shows of last season as well as Danny Gokey. Last season was more interesting.

What will make this season great is if Tim suddenly comes alive and Katie becomes the girl to beat. If that happens, ratings will go through the roof. It will be like, well, the N.O. Saints winning the Super Bowl. ;)

Lee, I can't see Idol tonight...night shift.

But who was in the bottom three? My guess from post, Mike, Andrew, and either Tim, Sibohan, Aaron, or Katie, right? Casey has to be safe.

I can't see Lee or Crystal getting the boot. No way.
