Amen Amen Amen Amen AMEN! That's right judges, apoligize for hating on my gal (Kat).

She looked sexee up there last night in that yellow dress. Mmm! GO KATT! And she damn sure wasn't as bad as they made her out to be. I quite enjoyed it myself. Maybe that was because I was so enticed by her outfit, though. Hmm?! Either way, she's still greatttttt!

You have company, she did look stunning. Kellie is out of the competition and the right choice seemed to be made, but just on the appearance front it will be hard to come up with another blonde as pretty as her. The K&K girls made this season very easy on the eyes.

My favorite part of tonight's results show:

Ryan is down on the floor, clowning around with the judges right before the first (?) commercial break. He's trying to get Simon to toss to the commercial, so he asks Simon, "And what's coming after the break?", to which Simon replied, "Kellie."

Ryan covered pretty well and said something about the fact that the results were coming up next, but it was funny to see Simon jump the gun and misunderstand the question like that.

Out running errands tonight and I missed all but the last 10 minutes of the show. I suppose that's good for avoiding the feeling of suspense. Pretty happy with the outcome, but I was rather surprised that Elliot was not in the top two. I thought his and Chris' performance were by far the best of the evening. Sorry, but Kat just didn't do it for me and I wasn't turned on by her cleavage (thank goodness for the hubby). :)

Pickler is gone Paris is next.

most likely

but the final four will be a fight to the finish...nobody has stepped up as the dominant singer yet

kat sang well, but like the judges said, it was way too big of a song for her but at least she tried something challenging and her fans forgave her this week

paris may have been able to pull off the whitney houston song, and kellie would have completely butchered it...celine dion is also another singer who is hard to replicate

i think the best strategy for the winner this year from now on is to play it safe because nobody has the depth to do a big song...like fantasia doing summertime, constantine doing bohemian rhapsody, or kimberly locke doing the titanic theme song

if taylor gets a chance to do a leon russell song or joe cocker song, he may have a chance to let it all out and not falter

Another good choice for Taylor might be a song by Michael McDonald (of the Doobie Brothers). Very similar sounding voice.

as long as it is one of mcdonald's more soul oriented songs (which has been his forte these last few years)...while taylor is good, and maybe the most talented overall in some respects, he doesn't do great rock and roll, but still is fairly good

he wasn't good on country night, but choosing the right song would have produced a gem for him

where taylor is soul, i think chris and his grunge can be tailored to other styles via arrangement and pinpointed song choice

elliott can sing anything well but he has a funny demeanor on stage...kat can also sing anything but she has a lack of any demeanor...mix kat and elliott into one person then you may have something

chris and taylor can really work a crowd in a way kat and elliott have not been able to yet

I concur with your assessment. ;)

I'm pulling for Taylor, but I think Chris should probably win it all. So of course that means neither of those guys will win it.

so long as they keep Katherine around, i'll keep watching ;) she's a cutie :D

kellie, lisa, melissa, and the first girl voted off were also cuties, but looks alone can't keep you on...kat has a voice more than those cuties kicked off, but she is really lacking the "it" factor...the other eleven had some form of the "it" factor though not all of them could sing

some of the bottom 12 of the top 24 had some of the "it" factor and sway comes to mind...i think he should have at least made the top 12

Taylor did "Takin It To The Streets" by the Doobie Brothers.
Don't remember when, but it was great.

My mother-in-law, who believes that American Idol is "fixed" in some nefarious but unspecified way, has declared that this year's winner will be a white male because it's "their turn". ;)

The first season's winner was Kelly Clarkson, a white female; season two was Ruben Studdard, a black male; the third season, it was Fantasia, a black female; and last year's winner was Carrie Underwood, another white female.

Well I dont think it is 'fixed' but I do think the producers have a good idea of what would make a marketable talent. Ruben and Fantasia, tho quite talented, have been totally silent since idol. Carrie Underwood is having a good run. But i feel like its time for a male version of kelly clarkson. like a male "rocker" that can draw men and women to buy records.

At this late stage, Katharine is the primary reason I watch it and continue to endure Randy's flagrant hijacking of the English language, Paula's incoherent and emotionally driven babble and the insufferable smugness of the Brit twit.

Yeah, you're right, I'd forgotten about that. Well, maybe he should sing another one of their songs about now. ;)

Actually, I just heard about one of the songs on Fantasia's new album just the other day, and then went and listened to a snippet of it on iTunes. The song is her tribute to unwed mothers:
Fantasia said:
"These days it's like a badge of honor... to be a baby-mama."
Umm, no, Fantasia, it in fact is not anything like a badge of honor. On the plus side, the song is unintentionally hysterical.

I kept thinking he should have done "I keep forgettin" by Michael Mcdonald instead of "Just Once" during love song week. He would have nailed it.

Did they even say what the theme/guest star was for next week? I missed it

For the Gay vote, Ace had "it". In watching his performances he knew how to play to each gender. Though his falsetto was just not enough.

Chip, you've got to be joking. Ace was annoying as hell. I don't know any self-respecting gay man (in this town anyway) who thought he had "it". He was a no-talent pretty boy fraud. He made me want to shove pencils in my ears and needles in my eyes.

Keep in mind talent sometimes does not count. It is how they "sell" to an audience, and the fantasy that they sell to. Ace IMO was able to sell his look to both "sides".

To be honest in the Gay community you just have to look at the ads for the RSVP cruises, and all the other "beautiful" bodies presented to understand how he got as far as he did.

I am not supporting it, in some ways we are too shallow. Even I, with a comment made earlier; but I was trying to look at at what sells. I don't make the rules, as you know by meeting me personally - I don't fit the rules. :D But I try and live with it. In some ways you and are "equals" in looks. OK, a stretch. :) But in the hair department we are equals. In an ad campaign you would probably get a higher "Q" rating that I would. Or even in the workplace in a good number of workplaces, you and I with equal qualifications, you would get the promotions perhaps (save for the "fat man" TV on CBS :D ).

I hope you get what I mean.
