But that’s a feature that gave them an edge over Apple for some people.

As it turns out there are some things you shouldn’t copy from Apple. Lesson learned. ;)

Yeah, and soon having a headphone jack might be such a feature as well, and Apple might actually swallow their pride. Samsung is already poking fun at them for it, and if sales of the 7 are less than stellar, especially among rising Samsung sales, I can see Apple doing a 180 and bringing it back by popular demand.

I honestly don't see the vast majority of people being upset or freaking out over the lack of a headphone jack. It's such outdated technology. I also highly doubt the vast majority of people charge and listen to music at the same time. And if they do, I'm certain an adapter will be available.

I have no expectation of a response as stated in the email itself. I always take the view that you should feedback dissatisfaction to those who can best do something about it. Unless you do so, nothing will ever change.

Believe it or not, it's not entirely uncommon for Apple to respond to customer concerns. There have been situations where Apple Excutives have returned E-Mails in the past. In your case, being your questioning an unreleased product, I'm not sure what type of response you will receive, if any at this point.

Cook most likely has a team of Advisors/assistants who actually see and or read his E-mails. So would he be the one to respond or read the E-mail? I don't know.

Cook did say in an interview months ago regarding the FBI fiasco, that he read every E-Mail addressed to him regarding Apple assisting the FBI. So it's possible. But being how secretive Apple is, especially when we are weeks away from the Key Note, I'm not sure what will happen, if anything.

But I appreciate your tenacity and determination to voice your concerns. If you hear back, due tell us your response.

When dealing with a huge company like Apple the only thing that will prompt change is declining profit, and given that they sell products by the tens of millions, one or two or even a thousand letters aren't even going to be noticed. But, if it makes you feel better then knock yourself out. A little constructive criticism though; don't swear (even with asterisks) in a letter that you want to be taken seriously.

True. Profanity never looks appropriate and it demeans the literal response to the letter. 101.

Lol this is what happens when your parents tell you that what you say matters and that you can change the world!

It's not likely at all though that they would comment on something that hasn't even been announced/revealed. (And if by some chance they even do it likely wouldn't be something more than "We hope you will like the next iPhone which we think will be the best iPhone yet.")

Exactly. Which is what I mentioned above, being we are to close to the launch. I can't wait for this one. See you their.

I see it the other way. People don't see it as "outdated" technology. Listening to music and media is one thing that practically everyone does on their smartphones, and everyone has standard headphones that they use in their phones, their laptops, their tablets, their radios, etc. Because they all use a universal port. I don't understand how something so ubiquitous can be considered outdated. It's like saying that the wheel is outdated.

Get bluetooth headphones and/or speakers. Missing headphone jack problem solved. Do we really have to wait for every last person to be comfortable enough to step out of the 80’s?

And I’m saying this as somebody who was just as “No!!!!” as everybody else hearing the speculation, but I’ve warmed up to the change. I for one am looking forward to not getting a wire snagged and having the jack ripped out or the headphones fly off my head.

You could...

A: Write a long and amusing letter to the CEO about a product that hasn't been released yet.
B: Just go buy something else if you're not happy with the iPhone
C: Get a life and stop bothering people
D: B+C

Just giving you a hard time :)

But really... let's see the thing before we bitch, no?

It has more RAM and a larger battery yet it doesn't run as well or the battery life isn't as long? If the battery life was so good on the new Note they would have advertised the usage time, not only the size of the battery.

I'd go with less RAM and smaller battery if it means a better experience.

As for the S-pen. That's just added weight to the device IMO. None of these constitute innovation to me. Innovation is something new. None of this is new.
You haven't even used a Samsung device....I have an S7 Edge that lasts the whole day with 6hrs of Screen On Time. And by whole day....I mean WHOLE day. iPhones are nothing compared to that phone.

I think he's very aware of the complaints everybody has to make. But when you are working on future devices (i.e. The 2017 iPhone), it's hard to care about these complaints since you know some of them will be seolved in the next iteration.

Actually. I have used a Samsung device. I used an S6 for almost 2 months. Couldn't stand it and the battery life was awful in comparison to my iPhone 6. So please don't say I haven't used something without asking first.

My point with the outdated statement is in comparison to new technology it's old. You can get much higher quality audio from the Lightning port than 3.5mm audio jack.

Why create the problem in the first place? You know you can get Bluetooth headphones right now, right? So why are you looking forward to it?

That's the argument that I don't understand. The headphone jack isn't being replaced by something better, it's just being removed. Those who want lighting port headphones or wireless headphones have had the option of using those accessories for years. Apple has actually managed to convince people that removing a feature for no gain other than perhaps a marginal increase in battery capacity, is a good thing. When Samsung tried that with the SD slot they had to bring it back the next year.

Why? Because Samsung users will pick up and leave. iPhone users, less so because most are convinced that the world outside of iOS is cold and scary, so they will learn to live anything that Apple gives them. It's almost like an abusive relationship. Rather than go out and buy what they want, people will sooner recite Steve Jobs quotes about how it's better to be told what you want than to decide.

I am by no means anti-Apple. I'm here because of how much I enjoy my iPhone and iPad, but there's a reason why Apple is compared to a cult.

Then I fully support Apple shipping the new iPhone with lightning earbuds so everyone can see how great they are... And leave the headphone jack. If they're really so great, by next year they can eliminate the jack and most people won't mind. People transitioned from cassettes to CD not because the former was suddenly removed from all music players. But rather because with both available the benefits of the latter were apparent, so people chose it.

I fully see where you are coming from and completely appreciate your stance. To your top post about Bluetooth headphones, Bluetooth audio still isn't high enough quality and you are limited by battery life of the headphones. Lightning headphones offer the superior quality without the battery life limitation. So it's a win-win. Yes convenience is gone because they are no longer universal, but personally. I would take higher quality than convenience. I do agree with your proposal, they could ship lightning headphones this year and remove the jack next year.

It may be silly, but I also wonder about the effects of added wear and tear to the Lightning port. If I'm plugging my headphones into it that means it's probably going to get more use in six months than it normally would in my entire time owning the phone. I hope Apple has considered this.

Hmm you might be on to something. I never thought about that. Maybe these iPhones will have a more durable port. Kind of like the Touch ID home button is more durable?

This thread, if nothing else, proves that there is a mentality out there that when someone or something gets too big, the average single customer doesn't matter. It's disappointing to see so many snarky comments, but that's to be expected.

Whether your letter get read or not, you know what? I think you've done more in terms of directly attempting to contact Apple about your concerns than any other person in this thread, maybe this forum, has done. Good on you.

Whether it gets read, whether you get a response, or whether anything at all happens in lieu of this letter, at least you tried. And you can't succeed at anything without trying.

FWIW I have heard of Tim responding (whether it was actually ton or someone else I couldn't say for sure) and sometimes customers even being sent something from Apple as a thank you for being a loyal customer. The OP has nothing to lose here except a few minutes of his time. Most of us blow more than that scrolling through the forum.
years back, I remember Tim responded to someone in regards to mac pro.

If he reads it at all, when he gets to "rumour/forum websites" he'll immediately hit the delete key.

It may be off base here, but The iPhone 7 is also rumored to have a thinner lightning port, which could provide tighter tolerances, with less play than the lightning port has now with the lightning cable. The iPhone itself will also be thinner reportedly. I think it all depends on how the user treats their iPhone too.

But with enough usage and abuse, it wouldn't Be difficult to damage the lightning port with the consideration of how the user is.
