Tim Cook is a bean counter. The only way to get his attention is to not buy the product.
Tim Cook doesn't design the products nor determine the feature set.

That's the job of the design team.

You haven't even used a Samsung device....I have an S7 Edge that lasts the whole day with 6hrs of Screen On Time. And by whole day....I mean WHOLE day. iPhones are nothing compared to that phone.
My 6 plus has 8 hours of screen on time.

my 6s plus has slightly better battery life than my S7 edge...and it's alot better in standby mode.

Why create the problem in the first place? You know you can get Bluetooth headphones right now, right? So why are you looking forward to it?

That's the argument that I don't understand. The headphone jack isn't being replaced by something better, it's just being removed. Those who want lighting port headphones or wireless headphones have had the option of using those accessories for years. Apple has actually managed to convince people that removing a feature for no gain other than perhaps a marginal increase in battery capacity, is a good thing. When Samsung tried that with the SD slot they had to bring it back the next year.

Why? Because Samsung users will pick up and leave. iPhone users, less so because most are convinced that the world outside of iOS is cold and scary, so they will learn to live anything that Apple gives them. It's almost like an abusive relationship. Rather than go out and buy what they want, people will sooner recite Steve Jobs quotes about how it's better to be told what you want than to decide.

I am by no means anti-Apple. I'm here because of how much I enjoy my iPhone and iPad, but there's a reason why Apple is compared to a cult.
[doublepost=1470452360][/doublepost]

Then I fully support Apple shipping the new iPhone with lightning earbuds so everyone can see how great they are... And leave the headphone jack. If they're really so great, by next year they can eliminate the jack and most people won't mind. People transitioned from cassettes to CD not because the former was suddenly removed from all music players. But rather because with both available the benefits of the latter were apparent, so people chose it.
That bolded is a vast generalization and without it your post falls apart. If I want to use MacRumors as a guide, seems like "plenty" of posters go between apple and other android manfacturers and the reverse happens also.

I don't know, and I don't know how you could know either, if the rumor is true, if what is replacing the headphone jack, isn't indeed better.

And I applaud the op for giving apple some feedback. I like my apple products, they do what I need them to do, yet I never thought of writing Tim Cook a letter telling him I like his products.

Dear Tim,

I am writing to tell you how much I enjoy your products and due to the function, support and reliability, when dealing with important matters I know I can count on my Apple products doing exactly what I need them to do.

About this headphone jack removal in the next iPhone iteration that's been all over the internet, I do have a comment on that I would like to pass along.....

IF he even read your email, which I doubt he does because he definitely has staff to filter this sort of thing out, he wouldn't tell you ANYTHING about an unannounced product and even then wouldn't care about your views and would probably reply with something along the lines of, "I'm positive you'll be excited when you see what we've got to show everybody." It's a waste of your time. Stop acting like Apple owe you something or that Apple isn't a multibillion dollar company who just want your money.

This is a copy of an email I've just sent to Tim Cook, CEO at Apple, regarding the new iPhone.

Alas, I doubt he'll even take any notice.

Hi Tim,

I've emailed you a few times about things in the past. I don't know if you actually receive, or read them, but I hope you do.

That said, I want to express my frustrations at what I am seeing (photo's and videos) and reading about the upcoming iPhone.

Things like, same design as iPhone 6/6s, lack of headphone jack and a constant obsession with ever thinner devices forsaking decent battery capacity.

I have purchased every iPhone apart from the 3GS, 5c, 6 and 6s (having purchased the 5s, 6 and 6s Plus).

However, of late, I'm fed up with what seems like a standstill in progress. Put it this way, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is an exceptionally impressive device - something I didn't think I'd ever say about a Samsung product. Just a shame about the ****** software on it.

I am prepared to give Apple the benefit of the doubt and wait for your keynote in September. Rumours are of course just rumours until official word. But and this a BIG but, I will not be buying the phone if it turns out to be everything I've seen in the 'supposed leaks' this time around.

I work hard for my money and have been a loyal Apple iPhone customer. But Apple is falling behind the competition and not listening to what it's customers want.

Judging from the Apple related rumour/forum websites I visit frequently, I'm far far far from the only one who feels this way.

I'll be sure to update you after the keynote with my final verdict. That said, you probably won't lose a tremendous amount of sleep if I chose not to buy the next model. Will you?

Thanks for taking the time to read my email.

Regards,
Matt

You forgot to say that these rumors about an unreleased product which you are not pleased about would never happen if Steve were alive. The rumors would be much more innovative.

I would be surprised that these decision were made before the launch of the 6S!

I wouldn't say a colossal waste of time. It took me two minutes to write.

I wouldn't say silly either. Unless people express dissatisfaction, how will they know people are dissatisfied?
[doublepost=1470425919][/doublepost]

Which is why I'm still prepared to give the benefit of the doubt.
OP: I once sent an email to TC regarding the :apple:Watch release and within 2 days received a response and the ability to speak with a member of the Executive Team. Tim may or may not actually read the emails, but there is,IMHO, a dedicated team to respond to legitimate concerns. As other have mentioned, as long as you are on point, and not demeaning, there is hope.
I have the same concerns you have. Unfortunately, Apple now appeals to the masses and not the loyal ones that brought the company into the mainstream. As I have stated in other posts, no one is really driving the bus anymore.

You seem to be very aware of most things Apple. Surprising that you missed the numerous reports and interviews, regarding design at Apple. What I refer to is that Apple does NOT base any design on customer desires, focus groups, market polls, etc. Jon Ivy specifically stated the designs his group comes up with are not based on public opinion of what should or should not be in a product.

This is quite different than most companies that react to consumer desires. The point made was that rather than be reactive and always behind the curve, Apple designs look to provide solutions and designs that people have not thought of or that even go against common thinking at the time.

This does not happen on a scheduled basis, and not every feature is well received, at first. But judging on their success at selling a high priced devices, they seem to come up with more successes than failures. Copied by others such that whole industry shifts towards those designs.

How does the executive team or even Apple tell a "loyal Apple fan" from a miscreat?

Why did you send this? Just to amuse yourself or were you really expecting something back?

You know, for better or worse, the loss of the headphone jack is going to make this perhaps the most interesting iPhone launch ever. While those of us who frequent sites like this one have known about this being a possibility for months, I'm only just now seeing it come up on mainstream social media, and so far I would say at least 2/3 of the reactions are negative. Not sure if people are as ready for this change as Apple thinks.

Ultimately, people will let Apple know through sales numbers. If they keep going down, they will take notice, because if they don't, they will lose $$$, which is all they seem to be concerned about these days.

They don't care about what the consumer wants. They think they're above the consumers and that we're just a bunch of whiners who have no clue what we want, and that when they reveal their shiny new device the masses will buy it any way. Even if it doesn't have a headphone jack.

If you think there was a time when money wasn't Apple's (or any other business's) main concern you are kidding yourself. Did you think they were making phones to spread joy and happiness throughout the world? Or that Tim Cook is hoping more people will friend him on Facebook? Everything Apple does and has ever done has been because they thought it would maximize profits.

Thanks for the lecture. Still doesn't change the fact that Apple intentionally holds back on features to maximize profit. Yes, that is the ultimate intent of businesses, but they can definitely do a better job with their products while still maintaining profitability.

No, of course it doesn't change that fact, it explains it. They obviously think that they are doing what brings them the most profit. You disagree, but who knows who's right? I'm sure they base their decisions on more information than you or I have access to. Still doesn't necessarily make them right, and of course everyone with a keyboard has their own opinion.

The best way to get Apple's (or any company for that matter) attention, is to simply stop supporting them and giving your money to them. I'm not gonna bash your email like some on here did, b/c I see where you're coming from. You want Apple to change and once again become the leader of the industry it once helped create. But emails and letters won't force change. Not buying an iPhone will

New saying, everyone has opinion, everyone has keyboard, and everyone has posterior anal opening. o_O

Well said. So much for "make the best products and the rest will follow", right?

Tim cook has dragged away iPhone from Steve Jobs vision and so is he doing in other areas.
