Smaller nano, same size, don't care -- just put the Nike+ transmitter inside. Tired of them getting lost, losing their connection...

You know how powerful does the Mac Air have to be for iWorks? Nobody ever said it was for Call of Duty 4

Me too. As it is now it's positioned as just a slightly lighter (and underpowered) 13 in MBP. An 11 inter would hit a sweet spot with the keyboard demanding market yet justify the subpro performance.

Yeah, I'll say. I could only imagine just taking it to the coffee shot, airport, etc. Would be great in my opinion since it would have all the features of a laptop, and weight/size of an iPad. After all, iPads are pretty expensive depending on which one you get. Why not just buy a Macbook air if its 1000 or below.

with intel Low Voltage CPUs costing Apple any where between $200 to $300 - the $800 MBA not viable, unless APPLE go Pentium Low Voltage or ARM CPUs.

street price for such CPUs (the ones used in MBA) are $330!

What about AMD NEO processors? Would those be of any use? Lets face it, the Macbook Air is a low powered computer mainly for travel. In my opinion, wouldn't make a difference if Apple goes with a AMD NEO or what ever possible Intel processor (Pentium, Core 2 Duo, iX) because most people are looking for portability. I'd rather have an AMD NEO processor or what ever the next best (cheapest processor) AMD has.

Just realized Neo is a processor to compete with Atom. Only take some of the above paragraph serious.

It's more likely to cost $999-$1200+ but if it's got 4GB of RAM I'd seriously consider it.

$1200 seems a bit too expensive to me. To me, the MBP is fine. No way I'm gonna kill over for 1.5 lbs and lower specs for the same price as the MBP. Thats just my opinion though.

Couldnt that small touch screen that was discovered be used as a touchscreen clickwheel for the nano?

I'd love an Air where the keyboard could detach and becomes an OSX capable tablet, an iPad Pro.

( Of course, there is the the design issues of putting the CPU et al in the same component as the screen - like iMacs)

I was waiting and waiting and waiting... for an updated 11~12'' MacBook Air.

:apple:I just can't wait anymore:apple:

I placed an order for HP TM2T yesterday for $804 (12'' LED multi touch screen, Intel Core i3 ulv, 4GB ram, 500GB 7200rpm hd, ATI HD 5450) The spec is just perfect for me. If updated MacBook Air could get the same or equivalent spec, maybe I will consider. But for now, I have to say bye to Mac laptop

Nice specs. Although I hear the trackpa...er touchpad on this unit is quite iffy. Think HP went a little too overboard trying to mimic MBP's. Processor you got is much better than the previous gen TM's and, supposedly, these models don't have the overheating issue like the previous gen ones.

Back to the topic. I don't need one but if they come out with an 11-12" MBA, I'm totally game :D

What would be the outcome if this new Air used a rebranded multi-core Cortex-A9 processor with a version of OSX that runs on it?

Benefits? Drawbacks?

Not gonna happen.

All major productive software have turned to intel. Adobe CS, Final cut, etc.

Using Cortex-A9 means this machine can't practically do anything other than email or web surfing. Then what's the point of having an iPad product line?

iPod Nano wild speculation

I'm pretty sure the Nano will have more space in it than a year ago, so if you take all the new parts of the puzzle and extrapolate wildly, how about New iPod Nano with Facetime over wifi.

And even more speculative...

If the Shuffle can take that new 3" screen and somehow wedge the Broadcom wifi adapter in there too with that awful Nano camera? Suddenly they just owned Skype...

A Facetime device for the price of a Shuffle? And let's face it, even if it's just the Nano with Facetime, having passed on the iPhone 4 - I'd be very sorely tempted...

I support the MacBook Air either getting smaller with same battery life and power and/or staying same size but bumping battery and CPU (RAM too)

Macbook Air wild speculation

Smaller form factor, touchscreen, runs iOS 4 apps in a sandbox on top of MacOS X.

And has Facetime of course...

Might dent iPad sales though, and moving iOS to a keyboard heavy form factor goes somewhat against the grain.

I can see them just making it stronger and faster than before though, but a Facetime hook up seems to be fairly obvious, so an OSX update to get it on all devices without any hardware upgrade needed seems inevitable.

MBA needs to priced at $899-$999 and get rid of the Macbook. MB/MBA get no love from customers any time I go to an Apple store (neither does the Mac mini but I still love it). It seems that consumers are willing to spend a little extra on a 13" MBP over the MB and many probably like the look of the MBA but it's price is off putting compared to the MBP. The differences outside of the exterior shell between the MB and 13" MBP is to small to have both lines. New 11.6" MBA at $899-$999.

...

This confirms the new air will be like an ipad with a keyboard running a new version of ios that has been designed for the iPad and will bring it much closer in functionality to osx. The air will be running arm processors so they can get crazy battery life and less heat in possibly an even thinner package as it wouldn't require as large a battery

The new Air will be smaller in form factor and price to compete in the netbook market. It will run a slightly faster version of the CPU used in the iPad. In fact, it will have a touchscreen and iOS built in, so that you can either use it with the keyboard as a laptop using OS X, or fold the keyboard back, the iOS comes up, and you use it as an iPad.

You wouldn't be able to do power computing, just basic stuff and office applications. It would be for casual users or business users who are in businesses where they only need email, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint (or Pages, Numbers, and Keynote).

It will kill the netbook market.

I'm hoping that at this stage they wouldn't release any laptop that is capable of having at least 4GB of RAM. That's pretty much what is holding some of us from buying the existing MBA's.

There comes your Apple netbook! You can call it whatever you want; there are computers around with C2D and the same screen size, but we call them netbook. Only, they are priced as premium netbooks, which they are.

netbooks are cheap laptops,it's called MacBook Air ;)

This guy's got it right if you ask me. It doesn't make a lot of sense that the best-selling Mac (I can only assume) is a 13" "Pro" computer. The current white Macbook gets very little attention in stores but may still be selling well; still, I am seeing fewer and fewer white Macbooks, even with the recent design and spec updates.

Remember a while back when Apple was looking into making extremely lightweight ceramic cases or something? I say the regular old Macbook will be entirely revamped - beautiful 11" screen, way more lightweight, no DVD drive, just the BASICS that make a Mac running Snow Leopard run so well.

Considering the baseline Macbook Pro is @ $1,199, the NEW Macbook for the average consumer will be between $799 and $999. I want to see Apple re-introduce the Macbook as a truly affordable Mac for the average consumer that has only the basics, so it is not as expensive as a "Pro" computer, but still runs smoothly. Come on, Apple!
