Myth? I always have a Verizon signal no matter where I go and if there's ever a dropped call it's ironically when I'm talking to my friend using his iPhone, who coincidentally has the worst sound quality out of everyone else I talk to who has Verizon. The Verizon drop rate is 1.5%. Have you seen AT&T's? ;)

Yes i have and that's something that i haven't experienced. Now granted in the last month i dropped 2 calls. But i will let you know that here in NC when i was test driving a Verizon phone.

I was at the local mall in the parking deck under concrete deck and the Verizon phone couldn't get any reception. But my iPhone worked fine.

And i would be interested to see Verizon's call quality after they get a few million people on their network using Voice and data at the same time.

The Result would be the same problem that 02/Telefonica and the other providers who have the iphone are going thru.

This is why I'm glad I live in Canada...except for outrageous monthly prices on cell phones

Yes, normally AT&T charges $60/mo for unlimited data access on a device. They still charge that on any other device you buy that you want data access on. AND you have to sign a contract.

Rats. This does not bode well for the Canadian data plans when they are released later this month. We're ALREADY well known for having some of the most ridiculous cellular data rates in the world...

And I'm supposed to believe that you just happened to have a Verizon phone to test out for fun?

I'm sure there are occasions where AT&T reception is better, but overall Verizon will provide better results.

There are plenty of people who own an Android based phone on Verizon and their quality isn't crippled from the data usage.

I am excited for the iPhone to be available on Verizon's network. At the same time I am scared. The reason that I am scared is that Verizon is known for disabling features on phone,s that are free on other networks, so they can charge you. Will Steve Jobs work this out so they can't continue this practice with the iPhone?

And I am desperately in need of a new phone, so I am waiting to see what's going to happen at WWDC.

Supposedly the demand from Verizon that Apple cripple the iPhone caused Apple to walk out of the original meetings they were having. I guess, according to rumor, Verizon was offered the iPhone originally and their demands that certain features be limited or removed was too much for Apple.

Heck, I had a phone with Verizon that was so locked down and yet the same phone off Verizon had those features enabled. It didn't make any sense... Well, except for Verizon trying to wag the dog...

What may be worth mentioning is that the CEO of AT&T was that Whitacre guy who now is head of GM and who just got nailed to the wall for lying about GM paying back all of their debts.

It would seem that while AT&T was raping us with their high fees, he was living high on the hog and living large instead of spending the money on the freaking network! You know, freak, THE reason people pay that money to your BRAIN DEAD company?!?! It gives me little hope for a future for GM...

Now apple cripples the phone for att to stop tethering, kinda humorous.

All cell companies suck, you just need to pick the one that sucks less where you are.

1) Yeah i was testing a phone out. I was testing out the Motorola Droid because i'm a gadget junkie and am in the postition to test out any phone i like. But since your a Fanboy obviously verizon can do no wrong eh?

2) Your right about the Android phones for now. But im refering to If verizon gets the iphone and You have people doing Voice and Data at the same time.

Which is something that VZW can't really do since they went with EV-DO Rev A instead of Rev B.

Really? SVDO doesn't work with rev A? I thought it was the handsets that can't, not the network. Someone better tell Qualcomm fast!!!!

'The SVDO feature will be supported in new devices, and will work with 1X or 1X Advanced with EV-DO Rev. A or Rev. B. Qualcomm is planning to support the SVDO feature in all of its new EV-DO MSM chipsets.'

Oh yeah, I'm a total fanboy because I prefer better service and better sound quality... you know things that actually matter for a phone?

********. You are just assuming they can't handle it. Anroid phones take up plenty of data whether you are using voice and data at the same time or not.

That's my bad. I stand Corrected. But i still think that when that happens it will cause issues for verizon's network

I myself even knew it was going to stay with at&t. It's really obvious. Although, i don't like what their points are on. They claim that they had to "out-bid" Verizon? How would they know that, for sure. Maybe Apple just really liked at&t, which they do. Or maybe it was Sprint or T-mobile. Or maybe they didn't even bid? So this is what i don't like. They just assume Verizon for EVERYTHING!

While speculative, I'd say this is a reasonable assumption. For all of the bad press that AT&T has had, at their own hand, mind you, they needed a big win. If these weren't the exact terms, something similar more than likely transpired.

No they do not. As it was pointed out to me earlier Verizon does not use SVDO
So it is impossible for you to Be on a PHONE CALL and USE DATA at the same TIME. Unless your using Wifi and im not refering to that.

That's great. I wasn't talking about being on a phone call and using data at the same time on Verizon. I was talking about how the data will be the only heavy usage which when you aren't doing anything you can bet millions of other Verizon customers are.

Great. And im saying when they do get the iPhone their network will be strained due to the traffic from Voice and data. I think ever carrier in the world from Optus and Telstra in Australia to 02 in the UK has experienced that and there is no doubt Verizon will also.

Probably the same way they handle it on their Droids. Or Pre/Pixies. Or Blackberrys.

If that's the case they can kiss it goodbye. I can't imagine apple allowing a Verizon splash screen or a Verizon logo anywhere on the physical phone itself.

That was an issue for Apple the first time around.

LOL! More assumptions just because this guy has a hard on for AT&T and can't accept the fact that Verizon can handle all of their data on their multiple phones that millions of people use every day and don't have this problem. Enjoy your AT&T, I'm sure you're really satisfied like every other AT&T customer. ;)

Great and when you get a chance take off those Rose coloured glasses. Because i doubt verizon will be able to avoid something that has effected most of the carriers in the WORLD who have the iPhone.

Well, I really hope ATT loses exclusive rights to the iPhone soon. They're a bad company and bad companies need to die. Thanks, Apple for trying to help our economy, but I think you should try calling ATT customer service. Then you'll see why they need to die. Either way, I'm gonna get the new iPhone and use it how I want. I'll jailbreak and use my google voice to screw ATT out of minutes and texts, use tethering since ATT doesn't seem to want to make any progress there (they don't deserve any profits on that anyways), and I'll use 3G unrestrictor so I can use Sling and YouTube in full quality over 3G. Up yours, ATT.

Get a chance to take off my rose colored glasses? Like I've said, there are million of customers using data on Verizon's service including the mobile TV they provide and their network isn't crippled like AT&T's. Voice is not that demanding to the network. Things like streaming video are. You just want to believe that they can't because you enjoy your dropped calls and crappy customer service.
