I like MyWi, but I'd like to try out Apple's native hotspot feature when an app and untethered 4.3 jailbreak is released (hopefully soon).
I think the chances of verizon charging for tethering a slim to none. They allow android devices to tether with unlimited plans for no extra cost and android users typically use more data than iPhone customers so why would the charge iPhone users? The ARE trying to steal customers from AT&T so im sure the are going to want to offer the best deals to get that edge. It's smart business. What do they have to lose really?
Agreed. This will most likely be a charged for service much like the tethering option for AT&T is with the iPhone. I wouldnt say just yet that MyWi is pointless.
That makes absolutely no sense and is a terrible comparison. Of course nobody would take the ball home if the had a full membership, thats why they GO TO the gym. If they didn't have a gym membership, they'd buy a ball for home. Now a good comparison is saying we go to an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT buffet and then being limited to only 2 plates of food.. despite paying for all you can eat? what kind of **** is that.. AT&T can stop screwing the customer over for everything they can and give us what we pay for. Same goes for txting, it uses data you have already paid for yet only works when you pay them MORE $$.

muhahahaha I Laugh at you americans!
Rogers has never charged for tethering, and as for this new wifi hot spot I highly doubt they will start charging (would hate to be wrong though).
Don't get me wrong MyWi is great and one of my favs but if I can use a hack to enable native tethering thru USB, bluetooth and true wifi hotspot with up to 5 devices connected I won't even need MyWi any longer.
Good riddance for MyWi, $20 for that? I got Tethering free.... that coupled with a $30/unlimited plan makes bliss.
How do I tether my wifi iPad, exactly, with the tethering currently available natively? Just because you don't happen to need it doesn't mean others don't.![]()
I agree.
My guess is we will see a $2-3 patch to enable native tethering along with the wifi feature.
I don't see ATT allowing tethering right away anyhow. If and when they do I would guess it will be at a $40 or $60 per month premium. I've used MyWi for well over a year and grandfathered into the unlimited plan. I don't see that setup changing anytime soon, ATT and every other carrier continues to treat data different if it's voice, texts or tethering. Which is all BS but they will suck every penny they can.
I have yet to see any sort of warning email or otherwise from ATT. I don't really care what anyone thinks about the legality of it so move along with the hypocritical remarks.
Rather than start a new topic, I figured I'd just throw this question in here. Do you think it's a good idea to get MyWi now, or wait it out and see where this official stuff goes? I have my iPhone 4 with unlimited data, I usually always have my Zune HD with me, so have unlimited wifi everywhere would be very nice with the zunepass, and I also frequently have my laptop when traveling and such. So, buy or wait?

Looks like I'm eating crow
WiFi Hotspot is $20/m on Verizon and most likely the same on AT&T.
