Because if you had the choice to turn Flash on web developers would keep using Flash so us that really don't want to use it would have much less HTML5 content available.

What I don't understand is the rest of the world is using it, it's not going anywhere. Windows, OSx, Android, etc etc all have no issues with using it. If Steve Jobs really wanted to do his part to eradicate Flash he would ban it on OSx and all of the devices Apple sells. Web developers will continue to use Flash, I haven't seen many if any of the sites I visit switch from Flash.

I just want the internet to work, no more, no less.

This is not apples fault. Go whine at adobe. If adobe had tried to make flash work on osx, much less windows machines, apple wouldn't have anything to complain about. Adobe purposely did not optimize flash for osx and now, with any luck flash will fall. It has already failed!
I got news for you Apple isn't winning the war on Flash !!

If Android does Flash so well, what happened to the Xoom???

The new gawker media sites dont even work well on ipads do they?

I got news for you: They work BETTER on an iPad than they do on a PC.

You go automatically to the mobile site, which gives you a list of current stories, without all the crap they've cluttered up their home page with. Click on a story, and it takes you the full story. And just about every video seems to work just fine.

I can't tell you refreshing it is to browse a site without annoying Flash-animated ads constantly getting in you face. But I guess that sort of nonsense (along with weekly patches, security updates, and intermittent viruses) makes up the "full Internet experience"

As I said...the point isn't about this specific website.

This happens way too often on way too many websites. I know Apple is trying to kill Flash, a noble effort indeed, but its coming at too big of a cost.

not sure how it's a noble effort. It's $teve Job$ way of making sure customers and developers go through bloated iTunes to deliver games/apps instead of something they can't control outside like Flash. Flash/Flex development is still going strong. There are other apps/games in the walled garden which would drain your battery more than Flash. Some are just as buggy as Master Job$ claims Flash is (even if it's not on iOS to prove that claim). There is absolutely no merit to his claims at least on the Android side. It's been proven. Suck it up Stevie. $teve just wants to control the iOS environment while making sure he gets a cut of any profits from entertainment consumers may get through said environment. But hey.. you buy into that walled garden, you suck it up. Apple knows best.

Yup that is the truth I can't believe that SJ was able to brainwash so many people into believing his anti-flash nonsense. Of course the battery will drain faster if you're streaming video or playing games regardless of whether its flash,html5 or native apps seems pretty obvious to me...

Runs like sh*t on my Galaxy Tab. "This video is not optimised for mobile" [sigh]

Not all Flash content is needed or good. Same for Silverlight, I don't want to have to use plugins when they aren't needed.

Not sure if this has already been posted yet or not, but this is why Apple doesn't include Flash on the iPad. (See screenshot.)

Can you imagine how quickly your battery life would diminish running this on a mobile device?

There's a big difference between a spec sheet, graph, or benchmark since there are so many variables in real world usage.

My new Android powered HTC Inspire, has flash & performs in an exemplary manor.

Any impact to battery life has been all but unnoticeable.

You may carry around a printout of the image you posted.

But I'll be carrying and enjoying the benefits of flash on my gorgeous new Android phone.

Cheers :)

I guess your right, that's why we see flash being widely supported and flawlessly executed on so many non-apple mobile devices now.....

Yeah, no idea why flash wasn't included on iOS to begin with....all it took was 3+ years and 2010 SoC's with 768mb of ram inside a phone to properly execute it...

Apple is soooooo behind the times. Get with it Steve.

Xoom is going to get it via an update.

Via update, when they release a version that it can actually work with. A version that will be brand new out of the box.

Stupifying that you can't see how that alone shows that Flash is only now getting ready for mobile devices, and mobile devices for Flash.

Works perfectly on my Captivate. From my own consumer point of view it's been ready for mobile devices for quite some time.

Pft. This will be the FIRST year with real flash on mobile devices.

2010 would have been the first year. But I don't understand what relevance that has to the discussion? We are talking about today, not yesterday.

If that were at all true, why is the XOOM, with that hardware set, saying that it isn't? Because the fact that it wont ship with Flash, which is supposed to be one of the killer features to boast over iOS, says that Moto doesn't agree with you.

Can you give me any logical reason for them making that decision that does not reflect poorly on Flash?

You cant possibly believe that moto did not WANT to ship with flash, do you?

All but unnoticeable compared to what?

Did you have extensive experience on that Inspire with and without flash?

Or are you just saying that your new phone has flash and has the same battery time as some other phone you had?

If Flash can be turned off, thus not impact battery life, why is everyone opposed to us having an option for Flash?

Do you really think that since you don't like Flash, everyone else must unequivocally also not like Flash?
