Not really, cause it only syncs unprotected music. So anything you buy from iTunes you have to burn to disc then rip it again which causes a loss in bass levels.
Most music from iTunes has been unprotected for a while.

Huh? Android = Linux? On which alternate universe is that true?

However this is a good find for those that aren't super picky on that whole subject.(Let's not get into an argument on lossless files please
)
And in terms of everyone using the term "Open Source" and that this is a win for "Open Source" (and even the term "Open" in general).... I've said this before elsewhere but it still holds true,
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
Happy to see a win for open source.![]()
NEWSFLASH: giving away phones for free increases volume and market share.
For the usual suspects who squirm against this argument, Engadget has the same opinion:
LOL! Yet another person snowed by the "Google gives me Android for free because they love me" chestnut.
Enjoy having all your personal data become part of the Google sledgehammer.
No, that would be the HTC Droid AMAZING (coming sometime soon to a carrier near you), followed by the Motorola Droid TOTALLY AWESOME and the Samsung Droid WAY TOO FREAKING INTENSE.
How much of your choice to switch was driven by the phone only being useable on ATTs crappy network?
I love the competition. go Android. go iPhone. We both win.
Android OS/Hardware is superior(In features and specs), deal with it.
Droid marketing is almost as good as iphones marketing, deal with it.
The competition between both platforms is good for progression, deal with it.
Well this article should rile up the natives.
This could be looked at in a few ways. One, iPhone sales are down since people are anticipating a new summer release. Or, Android could actually be more popular right now. Or, the Android platform being on multiple carriers, coupled with HTC's wonderful hardware, helps drive sales, whereas the iPhone is only available on one much maligned network that people are complaining about daily.

The music on iTunes has been DRM free since last April.
I wonder if free Android phones count toward these numbers? By my house Verizon is giving away free Moto Droids with contract, no buy one get one free, just sign up.
If this can be reeled in, Android will be a real contender. I think Android is a threat to Blackberry more than anyone else right now.
Hardware, yes. OS, not even close.
Happy to see a win for open source.![]()
.. verizon already paid for the phone and they give it away for "free" but make the $ in the contract.. so technically the phone not free
I wholeheartedly believe Apple is prioritizing Global Sales way ahead of US Sales(as they should)... But, there is concerning news for Apple stemming from this strong surge of Android...
Nonetheless, Look at Q1 of 2009 till Q1 of 2010 for the iPhone - Still kicking arse in sales & making a ton of profit. But, is iPhone's market share going down or being stagnant? Yes, some think it is solely due to the anticipated new 4th Gen device, but the bulk of this stagnant market share is stemming from the strong adoption & gaining market presence of Android OS.
If I were Apple, I would slow down the exponential numbers Android is experiencing by offering the iPhone on other carriers. Even though you can argue the actual iPhone hardware is way ahead because Apple has one variation of their iPhone (profiting out the wazoo) & Android has many, there is still a big concern for Apple. Android is now saturating the smartphone market, and this is a direct hit at the iPhone. iPhone's biggest anticipated competitor is the Android devices, not Blackberry(RIM). Google is looking to take the market share away from Apple, and that is what is happening!!!
The ultimate hiccup for Apple is that the iPhone's target audience is exactly the same as Android. There are millions of people who don't have AT&T but want the iPhone & the features that come with it. Guess what... these millions of people have now resorted to an Android device because it is the closest product to an iPhone. They are both intuitive touchscreen smartphones with app store capabilities. So, in my opinion, this is bad news now for the iPhone, but even worse news if Apple lets this go on. People will start being comfortable with the Android OS, and those same people who wanted the iPhone now have their buyer wants eased. Now, there is much less of an incentive to switch to another carrier just because of the "wanted" iPhone. Google has started their quest of the "iPhone killer."
End that contract with AT&T and you will create a smartphone market dominance similar to the iPod has on the MP3 market...
Apple needs Verizon more than Verizon needs Apple now. And, Apple is the only one who can put out Android's fire!!!
