Well what else are they supposed to use, Meego? Yuck.

I'd like to see that stats of quality android phones vs the iPhone. I think the stat is skewed a bit due to all the crappy low cost budget smart phones out there using android.

At one point, Nokia and Blackberry were putting out one great product after another. Three years ago, a beaten and bruised RIM would've been nigh unimaginable. Yet here they are, hanging on to life by the merest of threads.

Businesses tend to flock to whatever works best with the least amount of trouble, and the public sector is fickle at the best of times, always moving on to the next best thing. Just because Apple is the darling of the tech industry today doesn't mean they will be tomorrow.

Consider how Apple jealously guards their tech roadmaps to the point of paranoia, and their unwillingness to concede a point when it comes to their products. These facts alone make it hard for them to be truly embraced by the IT sector.

What about their current ambivalent attitude towards the creative pro sector? The demographic that made them as a company? I'm hardly a business guru here, but it doesn't seem a wise idea to abandon your core market, comparatively small as it is.

And all for what? Embracing the consumer sector? A demographic that will drop you like a hot potato as soon as the next big thing arrives on store shelves?

All it takes is one big mistake for the IT crowd to get rid of you. Just look at Blackberry to see evidence of that. And what about Nokia? They didn't keep up with the times, and are now a practically unheard of brand in the US. Do you really think Apple is immune to the same ills that have recently plagued these companies? No. They're not. If they don't keep the iPhone flashy enough, secure enough, flexible enough, then they'll lose out to the next guy with a bright idea, just like these other companies.

I concur but the next guy have to come up with a "bright idea" as you said but not by copying :p

This thread shows a rather interesting mentality. It basically goes like this:

"Hurray, look at how much profit Apple is making by ripping me off, look, LOOK!!!"

Thankfully there are good/better (pick as preferred) alternatives out now. People are voting with their wallets. Why exactly should they give 2 flying ***** about how much money these multinational companies make?

Why change a winner, do you think it can be much better than it is now?

My opinion is that they can't make it much better than it is where it is now.
Look what they did with OSX, Lion sux and I for one won't like it if they **** up the iPhones UI.

Wow, I got a bunch of down votes for this.

It was My opinion as a mentioned in My former post.
If I was the only one who thinks that Lion is bad, OK I can understand but there are plenty of people who don't like Lion either or they switch of many of Lions features.

I like iOS UI as it is now, I didn't say they should not improve iOS at all, it can always improve but the UI is at its best.

And all of this is My opinion

But hey, a few downvotes in a while isn't that bad.

So what if it's your opinion ? We can still downvote you if we don't agree. And I happen to not agree (though I don't "downvote"). I really like the UI changes in Lion and those I don't, I disabled (options, gotta love 'em).

And frankly, I think they can make the iOS UI tons better. Right now, it's barely a UI at all, just a bunch of messed up icons, most of which I can't delete (the Apple apps I don't use like Stocks, Weather, etc..).

Fair enough.

fAndroid trolls

Why does it seem like fAndroid trolls are just a little insecure? You like oranges, I like apples. I will never convince you, and you will never convince me. Stalemate. Move along...

You talk about insecurities yet spew petty insults (fAndroid trolls)?

This is an open discussion forum where people with varying experience with a multitude of platforms can air their view on each platform.

If you really think trolling is exclusive to Android users and directed exclusively to Apple users you really are misguided.

In future, if you have a credible point to get across it may be beneficial to not resort to petty namecalling (unless you are in fact insecure about something?).

Not all posters who post positive posts about Apple's competition are rabid "fAndroids" or "Nokia fanboys" or "Samsung lovers" or whatever.

Just like I'm not some Apple fan, I'm not a fan of Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Nokia, RIM, HP or any other company. These are faceless corporations who only seek profit. I use the best tool for the job, and that can come from any of the vendors, not just Apple.

They all make good tools and good platforms that just happen to be different. Why does everything have to turn into an "us against them" with the more "Apple" people around here ? Can't we have neutral conversations where technology is discussed on merits rather than on fanaticism ?

Agreed - but many times it's not able to happen. Those that resort to namecalling (fandroid, fanboy, etc) seem to have no other way to express themselves intellectually or see things in anything other than black and white.

Further - I find it even more interesting that when they are done with that namecalling - they get huffy and try to intimate that one should leave the forum or stop posting. Reeks of insecurity at a basic level to me.

Who's the fandroid? Why so insecure to think the thread is plaqued with fanrdoids?

Well the Future will be Android and not just on Phones...

Some remarks I must share:

The Future will be Android and not only on phones, I actually think even on normal desktops Android will be the one to use in a few years!

The Android evolution happened mostly because Google knew there were thousands of Java developers with work already done, they just needed a new "JAVA", so Android based on Java was a very smart choice, of course Sun Microsystems back then didn't really fight back on it, and Oracle are trying to give a chunk now...

And NOKIA, the company that had it all, and still has in some parts, for now, it owns NavTeq, the world leader in cartography and still makes the best hardware on mobile phones, great camera phones, the best mobile phone speakers, and some of the best phone services, BUT they bite them selfs. Symbian^3 is a huge jump from Symbian s60v5, and they could actually fight Android and iOS with it, but Microsoft got into and we all know what's happening with Nokia Symbian, they are killing it slowly, stopping development and want users to move to Windows Phone, but it will not happen!
Android momentum is too big now, even iOS will stop growing and will actually shrink soon, the only way Apple can prevent this is making cheaper phones, but Apple thinks a premium phone will have people that will pay big for it, but Apple has to wakeup and remember that while Apple survived the dark times of Window/Mac OS incompatibilities, back then Apple had the Designer Market and Windows had well, all the rest.
Now the Computer is the Internet, and people want to share and communicate, and use some of the same services their friends use, and well the 99% of people can't afford a premium, and even the other's 1% most of them are too greedy to pay for it!

I sincerely do not see a stop in growth for iPhones. Although Android will probably see larger growth for next couple of years, iPhones user base should also increase.

And at one point, the market will be very saturated by Android so percentage in growth will be smaller than iPhones, just like Windows shows less percentage in growth vs Macs.

Apple is not stupid, the last thing they would let happen is a stop in growth for the iPhone. If that ever happens, we can all agree that Tim Cook did not do his job right.

The blood of Foxconn suicides are screaming from the ground.

Suicide rate amongst Foxconn employees is about one fourth of the rate amongst the US population. That means if you pick 100,000 random Foxconn employees, and 100,000 random US citizens, four times more of the US citizens will kill themselves in the next year.

Out of curiousity - do you know. What are the work related suicides of both?

Why is work related of any importance? Which is worse for a given city size population, 5 suicides because of a boring job, or 20 suicides because the population couldn't even find enough boring jobs? Bringing that boring factory into town might save around 15 lives per annum.

Well because the OP was comparing two different things anyway. I wasn't trying to argue either way. I am curious at any data that would indicate or not indicate whether there are specific issues at Foxcon which are contributory. Isn't that naturally of interest?

No surprise that Apple dominates profits when the competition has to resort to giving away things like BD players to entice people to buy their inferior products. In this case though two wrongs (Android plus BD) do not make a right.

You realize that Samsung isn't doing that - it's Best Buy. To get you to make a purchase at their store. Because Best Buy's sales have been lacking and they want to stay in business.

Or are you just spread FUD for FUD's sake?

What's so wrong with Blu Ray players?

Let me follow your logic

Apple has to resort to giving away things like Photo books to entice people to buy their inferior products. (I love my MacBook, I'm just following Linux2Mac's logic, if any)

Why is this even a discussion?

Apple has stated many times before that they don't care about market share numbers. They're just numbers to show off to idiots to make their e-peen wars. Apple generates high margin off their products. Take for instance the iPhone. Apple will make roughtly $32 on a 16gb iPhone right now but their 64mb iPhone will generate close to $200 profit. The number 1 selling smartphone is the iPhone. Android is just an o/s, so their software is spread out and fragmented.

Apple only caters to those that want something simple in their lives. That has been their montage since the beginning.

As far as personal preference, I choose android over iOS. Why? More features and customization that the iPhone won't bring, not can't. They also have a an exponentially growing applications market with not just Android market, but with others as well like Amazon and other 3rd party providers. And going back to fragmentation, well... That's always going to exist with the different screen sizes. But ICS is slowly but surely going to close in that gap. Anyone wonder why Apple won't increase their screen size display for their phone? That's the reason why. It's already hard enough to write 2 seperate applications for the iOS (iPad/iPhone), adding a 3rd will add more complexity.

This thread is more about LTD and other people purposely choosing to bash Android in all ways possible because all they see are the negative points of Android. But they still strongly believe that they are right with their biased choice of arguments and sources.

As for LTD, he is on a self-imposed mission to destroy the credibility to iOS' strongest competitor even if like you said, does not matter at all. We're just nicely telling him to be more open to choices rather than to dismiss its qualities. :)

Oh no - it's not self-imposed. He's channeling Steve Jobs. And until LTD's dying breath - he WILL DESTROY ANDROID!!!!
