This is a good thing. I hope they keep the traditional iPhone form factor around for a while, as I don't really have any interest in the iPhone X. OLED screens are way too unnaturally color-saturated and I like my TouchID.

OLED is only unnaturally color saturated at the OS level on competing devices. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with OLED in this regard.

OLED is the future of phones, tablets, TVs, laptops etc, so get used to it.

I can make my LG C7 OLED TV look less saturated than any LCD iPhone out there. So again, don’t confuse poor software color management profiles on Android OLED phones as something inherently wrong with OLED.

This is dumb. Employees don't need to upsell to iPhone X, because upselling is already built into the pricing model...

Prices (USD) for iPhones on Apple.com: $349, $449, $549, $649, $669, $699, $769, $799, $849, $949, $999, $1149.

I rest my case.

This is something I've always liked about Apple. This holds true with the Mac as well. I have always bought from the Apple store so that I can configure it they way I want, and always get advice while there. I've always found the cost effective solution rather then then up sell.

With slow sales of the iPhone 8, Apple never needed to upsell iPhone X once Tim Cook said, "One more thing..."

Give it a new design and upsell isn't needed.

A mobile phone by design encourages you to go outdoors and still enjoy your technology. You are not tied to a desk like I was when I was kid growing up with technology.
Whole point of going outdoors is you aren't enjoying your technology then. What could you possibly need a pocket PC for? Of course, it's not good for anyone to sit at home playing video games all day either, but most get tired of doing that.

I went to middle school just after the iPhone 3G came out. So, the height of the smartphone revolution at the time when everyone would be getting their first phones. Everyone there adopted it within a few months, and it had a blatantly negative impact. Kids sat at a table (yes, technically outside) on phones instead of playing sports or even talking. Finished college a year ago, and I can say it was even worse in high school and college.

Face palm.

Okay, so internal policy is not to upsell cutomers in-store. That's cool. I don't like being upsold anyway.

But that aside... Wow. The iPhone X is an upsell. This is the first time in iPhone history that you aren't getting the latest and greatest at standard flagship price. You want the latest and greatest, you have to pay extra.

really? Apple isn't for elitist? How about those gold watches.. how did that go.. another amazing idea from Angela? Can't she just take her 10M a year and get lost...

To be upset about the gold watch as an example of apple's elitism is like being upset at tiffany and co for a $100k engagement ring.

If you have to scoff at it for its existence, *it's not meant for you and you need to move on.*

I don't even like most of iPhone's designs except two.

People overrate the 4 based from nostalgia. It was beautiful but I hate how it influenced this decade. But Apple really doesn't need to upsell when you realize early buyers can do it for them.

"Hey, forget that iPhone 8. Looks the same as the 6 and 7. Go buy this iPhone X. How much you ask? $2,500."

These diehards who want it early are shallow. They will be like ok. They got bloats of cash to burn. Syndicates in Asia pay people to line up. Scalpers' big opportunity. The Xbox 360/PS3 of this decade for eBay scalpers. Limited supply is only music to their ears.

Audio entertainment while exercising?
Directions?
Price comparisons while shopping?
Finding good restaurants for lunch/dinner when out and about with friends?
A quick phone call or iMessage to a loved one when you are going to be delayed?
Seek urgent help in emergencies?

I could go on and on and on.

Yeah, I had to reread that part. Are they really trying to sell iPhones to six year olds? Or did they mean something else? 16 - 17 perhaps?
I know some people who had iPhones when they were 7.

Everything you listed either doesn't require a smartphone or isn't something little kids do. None of those involve exercise either.

The first time was with the original iPhone.

Shows how out of touch she is really doesn't it? Buying a 6 or 7 year old an iPhone with a start price over $600 haha - Oh the lives of the rich and famous buying their 6 year old kids iPhones.

1. Go to school and work hard
2. Get a job and work hard
3. Pay your debts because you work hard
4. Buy your child an iPad or iPhone because you’ve got the money that you earned working hard.

Not rich nor famous. Just hard working citizens. Can you do that?

Of course, the above depends on weather a person worked hard or party hard in their youth.

Hard to upsell the X when they won't have any in stock. So in other words they will try and sell you the 8 or 8 Plus instead because they don't want you leaving without spending money.
