Anyone else a bit annoyed that if you made a reservation to get the iPhone 4 on opening day, partly so you could be the first anywhere to get it, you are now getting it 1 day later than others who aren't anywhere near an Apple store and/or chose mail-order?

Kind of takes a bit of the excitement away from the hassle of rushing to an Apple store on release day and waiting in the reservation line.

Quite the contrary, I'm happy for the lucky ones getting an early surprise! :)

For the life of me, I will never understand the NEED for some people to be the "first anywhere to get it". I don't care if I'm first or 100,000th - as long as I get the phone, I'm happy. It seems like so many people's self-esteem and self-worth are connected to their choice of gadgets, and that's sad.

I think it's great that many of those who preordered will be getting their new iPhone 4 a day early.....that will definitely ease the impact of activation on AT&T's and Apple's servers so that on Launch Day those who are waiting in line at their local Apple or AT&T store will have a smoother experience. It's still going to be very, very hectic on Launch Day but maybe just a wee bit less chaotic than initially anticipated.....

It's sadder that you can sit on the internet judging and chastising people via text when you don't even know them. Yeah I'm pissed about the white iPhone... I come on here and talk about it... when I walk away from my Mac I generally don't even think or talk about it... That's why I come to these forums to vent/discuss these things. It's not like I walk around work or the mall and think about how pissed I am about the iPhone... Don't be so judgmental.

Sorry, talking about all things Apple and posting you are pissed b/c some people get their phone a day early are not moral equivalents. People that whine about such petty and trivial things ARE brats. That may be judgemental, but it's the correct judgment.

Yeah I don't really either, when I got my 3G, I had to wait till the end of august because my local AT&T store was backordered until then, that didn't make me enjoy my phone any less when I got it. I understand when people feel the need to see a new movie first, or wait till midnight to get a book first (Like the Harry Potter series) or even get a videogame first, they usually want to so that they can avoid getting the plot spoiled early. But this is just a Phone, you'll be jealous one day and then you will forget all about it the next.

Excitement? How old are you?

Why would anyone want to go to the Apple store and wait in line with a bunch of Geekheads! I got better to do and will be fine iwth FedEx getting mine to me on the 23rd!:p

I don’t understand the rational of being upset about other peoples good fortune when it does not come at your expense. I will be meeting some old college friends to go out and have a blast Wed night and end up at the Apple store to wait and have fun hanging out over the night.

Would I trade that for getting the phone the day before.. No but that's just my choice.

For those of you that are waiting in line for the phone only and didn’t want to order the phone because you would have had to wait a few extra hours for delivery and those that tried to preorder but had to settle for a reservation you're still getting the phone at the same time. As a matter of fact you will most likely get it faster since the network will be less taxed.

Someone mentioned having a slight ping of jealousy, I get that, but overall you should be pleased that some people will get their phone early and you may get out of line a little sooner.

That's actually a very well thought out comment and rational way of thinking. It is jealousy, what else? I guess I'm jealous.

Waiting in line with a bunch of people just as excited about a new product can be fun, you meet lots of diverse people that you would never have expected to be waiting in line for a gadget. It's not just always a bunch of geekheads.

Am I annoyed that the people who pre-ordered online are getting their phones a day earlier than me? No. Am I annoyed that if AT&T's severs hadn't crashed, I too would be getting my phone a day early? Yes.

I'll tell u what then - u can have my delivery date on 7/14 & I'll take yours on 24th if u don't really care. Everyone cares. That's why we preorder it & that's why peoplestand in line for hours to get it. So yes, it is b.s. that someone who ordered online gets it before a preorder at the store. Anyone who says otherwise is lying or doesn't get excited about getting the new iPhone.

What would piss me off is if I wanted to pre-order from Apple but had to do something else and got it a day later as a result.

Still, as mentioned, you'll get your phone the day you planned and hopefully will be up and running faster because things were spread out.

I'm excited about getting the phone AND not upset that someone who ordered online is going to get theirs tomorrow. I'm happy for them. I'd have to be quite petty to get upset over someone else's good fortune. I expected the phone to be released on the 24th and have no problem whatsoever with waiting to get it on the 24th. I'm not going to act like a petulant child and cry about somebody else getting the phone before me. I'm an adult. I'll go to work tomorrow, go home, and go out with my wife as usual without worrying at all about who might have their phone before me.

If all of you folks in line at the Apple Store before opening on Thursday morning promise not to kill me, I'll bring my iPhone 4 over and walk the line to show it off! :D I promise I won't say "neener neener neener"!

Seriously, if I had reserved for in-store pickup, I'm sure I'd be a bit miffed. But not enough to let it ruin my fun and excitement of getting the phone on the 24th. It is, after all, just a phone. :)

If it makes you feel any better, a majority of those who are getting a day early will actually not be home to receive the package. Most of us had either planned on taking the day off, or "working from home" on 6/24. So it will arrive and I won't be able to play with it until much later on 6/23... around 8 PM.

It's not about someone else getting one first. It's about not being able to get one right when they become available. I could have ordered it online, but instead went to the store thinking I could get it early in the morning on the 24th. I would much rather have sat at home waiting for FedEx guy if I would have known they'd be delivered on the 23rd. Kind of like Christmas morning when you were a kid. Oh that's right, you're an adult not and don't get really excited about things like this anymore.

I'm retired (at age 53). I'll be home! :)

You're not making any sense. If you went to the store thinking that you could get it early on the 24th, then why didn't you pre-order it for delivery on the 24th so that you could sit at home? At what point in time did Apple give you any indication that you could have gotten it on the 23rd?

And your reading comprehension fails you. I clearly stated that I was excited about getting the new phone. But I guess that according to Jetwash logic, if I'm not in a tissy over tomorrow's deliveries, I'm not really excited. Brilliant.

Should have been smart and pre-ordered for shipping to house.

Well, let me see.

Some people didn't pre-order cause with all the servers messing up, they could not. So they tried and couldn't help it. So you already can get off your high horse. They weren't "stupid" even by your own terms. Just unlucky.

Then, there are people like me who were not the main account holder and the main account holder at the time wasn't sure he even wanted an iphone. Therefore I didn't want to get one and have him be stuck on AT&T if he wanted a different phone. I had figured out how to make it work but I still needed to talk it over with him if he was ok with me potentially having an account with his name on it. Reserving gave me time to actually do that while still giving me a chance being assured I'd get the phone before a certain point (I wanted it before July 21rst honestly but already it would be chancey that would happen if I didn't have a reserve).

Yep. There are advantages to both. I can see the not wanting to deal with the crowds (I'm getting old, heh). I could also see the it can be fun aspect too. I'm forced to go to the store if I want to be sure I have my phone before I go to the trip, so I'm just going to look at it as something exciting (might as well have fun with it, right?). It does feel like I'm waiting for a holiday (where as just waiting for the fedex guy to come would not feel like that).

I'm just glad that Apple has finally taken action to avoid the activation/upgrade debacles of previous years. You used to have OS upgraders, mail orders, and instore activations all hitting the server on the same day... which made the experience difficult for everybody. This year it looks like upgraders on Monday, mail orders on Wed, and instore people on Thursday. Everyone should be able to hit the servers with minimal trouble.

Thanks!

I have to admit, I'm a little envious my self. As much as I'm looking forward to seeing my friends I am still excited about the phone. I've had a countdown clock on my desk since they announced the WWDC date :D

For all of those who are getting their phone a day late:eek:, remember that Apple sometimes will give you free gifts while you are waiting in line with 500 people!:p
