I'll tell u what then - u can have my delivery date on 7/14 & I'll take yours on 24th if u don't really care. Everyone cares. That's why we preorder it & that's why peoplestand in line for hours to get it. So yes, it is b.s. that someone who ordered online gets it before a preorder at the store. Anyone who says otherwise is lying or doesn't get excited about getting the new iPhone.

Just spoke to my apple store manager. Preorders picking up in stores only will be getting 1) choice of white or black! Some whites were delivered he says. And b) apple bumper screen protector with tshirt for iPhone 4 release. Thanks apple!

That would be sweet if true. Not saying it's not true for your store. But judging by the freebie thread what people get at Apple stores tends to vary.

Sorry, it really annoys me seeing people think they are entitled to an upgrade every year. You signed a contract. AT&T is nice to some but that's only cause they are high payers (the people AT&T really wants to keep). They aren't getting a bargain, they're still paying for it.

I know I shouldn't get sucked into this argument again, but what the heck. What bothers me personally is the absolute stupidity of the system, and the bizarre un-documented tiers of "high payers" as you call them getting preferential treatment. If that's the way they want to design their system, then document it and make it clear - I'll play that game if I know the rules. Otherwise it feels like an arbitrary system. Some people who bought the same 3GS the same day last year are getting the FULL $400 discount. Others are getting the "early upgrade" $200 discount. Some people like me are getting NO discount.

As I mentioned in a thread yesterday, it makes more sense for me to terminate my present contract and start a new one - by doing that I get the FULL $400 discount and pay only around $100 in termination fee. But how does that make sense to AT&T, now they are losing $300. Why not just give me the intermediate discount and lock me in for another 2 years? It worked last year and everyone wins, particularly them. Instead I've been placed into some strange mid-category because I don't pay enough monthly? Well then ***** tell me how much I need to pay to get out of that category, don't make it some hidden mystery.
