For all of those who are getting their phone a day late:eek:, remember that Apple sometimes will give you free gifts while you are waiting in line with 500 people!:p

Actually, they don't - not that I'v ever heard of. Maybe coffee and donuts.

I am actually very happy that it looks like a lot of people will be getting and activating their phones the day before me. For one, it will take some load of the servers for activations (as most have said). Also, it will keep all those fools out of the reservation line who also pre-ordered just in case their delivery might not get to them at a good time or whatever it may be. :p And it might even free up a lot of reserved phones for walk-ins that day as well. I would hope that all those who did pre-orders and reservations will cancel their reservations to allow for more walk-in stock.

It really is a win-win situation for everyone.

Actually there are threads about packages being out for delivery now. That's 2 days, that must make everyone getting theirs early tomorrow annoyed and Apple store people even more annoyed.

Hadnt thought about people with both canceling reservations. Good point

Agreed.

And I canceled my reservation the minute I got my tracking info from Apple/FedEx. So, there's at least one phone available at the International Plaza Mall in Tampa!

Been smart? How is preordering vs. reserving "smart"? Yeah, it'd be really "smart" for me to have an iPhone delivered to my home while I'm at work so someone can steal it before I get home. Also, some people couldn't get the phone preordered... they were stuck with reserving. Think before you post.

And I'm not very worried about the 23rd/24th thing. I'm also not 100% certain people will actually receive them on the 23rd. In years past, FedEx held on to the packages so they'd be delivered on the 24th. Do we know that this won't be happening again this year?

LOL, FedEx requires a sig. how could it be stolen, if you're not there to sign they bring it back to facility to redeliver, if missed again, you can pick it up....you must live in a sh** area if you're worried about a package that reuqires a sig. to go missing. Yeah and it is smart to get it delivered to your home, you avoid lines, having to gas the car or travel, lots of advantage, think before you post ;)

And yes, we know because a pretty legit email went out saying some folks would get it on the 23rd. word.

Agreed.

+1 I cancelled my reservation once I got tracking info, so that phone now available too.

It seems like so many people's self-esteem and self-worth are connected to their choice of gadgets, and that's sad.

It's because the most vocal are usually young kids. With no clue, and are just young bastards! lol

You're not making any sense. If you went to the store thinking that you could get it early on the 24th, then why didn't you pre-order it for delivery on the 24th so that you could sit at home? At what point in time did Apple give you any indication that you could have gotten it on the 23rd?

And your reading comprehension fails you. I clearly stated that I was excited about getting the new phone. But I guess that according to Jetwash logic, if I'm not in a tissy over tomorrow's deliveries, I'm not really excited. Brilliant.

What??? Your reading comprehension isn't exactly up to par for an adult. Apple gave no indication there would be deliveries on the 23rd. That's exactly why I went to the store - so I could get it early on the 24th. My FedEx guy doesn't come by my house until late afternoon. Had Apple notified us that we could have gotten it on the 23rd by mail then I would have done so.

Again, your comprehension fails you - I never said everyone should be upset about tomorrows deliveries. I'm happy for all those who get it tomorrow. I'm just annoyed that Apple didn't let us know about the 23rd so I personally could have ordered it online and had one the 23rd. I could care less when anyone else gets an iPhone 4.0. It's all about when I'm getting one.

Great, I'm arguing with a kid. What the hell was I thinking?

Seriously man, Apple's decision to allow for deliveries on the 23rd was likely made after all of the pre-orders for the 24th were sold out. Seeing how AT&T wilted under the onslaught of pre-order customers, they probably decided that it would be a good idea to avoid a repeat of it on Thursday. So I doubt that there was any way for Apple to let you know about this ahead of time. Do you honestly believe that Apple planned to deliver early all along and just forgot to tell you? When have they ever done that? This has all the signs of a decision made late in the process, when you would not have been able to pre-order for early delivery anyway.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

I wouldn't say I'm annoyed, but it is a let down. Of course it's not a big deal, but as Apple fans we want our toys ASAP. It hurts a little bit to know we could have had it a little earlier, & we'll have to see a bunch of posts about people bragging on how great it is. I'm avoiding MR on the 23rd unless I hear something about how the 23rd delivery date was a fluke. :D Then a well-deserved "nana nana boo boo" will be posted.

Excitement? How old are you?

Why would anyone want to go to the Apple store and wait in line with a bunch of Geekheads! I got better to do and will be fine iwth FedEx getting mine to me on the 23rd!:p

Same reason some people enjoy going to concerts instead of just staying home and listening to CD's...

I do think it is kinda funny the people who are getting them early telling the people who have to wait until the 24th to chill. You know most of them would be throwing a fit if the show was on the other foot and Apple announced that those with in store pre-orders/reservations could pick them up a day early!

Who cares if there way any way for Apple to let us know about this ahead of time. Fact is I'm annoyed about it. Hence the title of this thread.

I actually look forward to all the activation problems taking palce tomorrow, then I will stroll into my Apple store on the 24th as planned and walk out without any issue.

Hah if you think you're "strolling in" and wont have activation issues, you're an amateur...lol, nice positive thinking though ;)

Does it annoy me a little? Sure. When I reserved my phones, the Apple Store website was crashing and displayed an error in the pane that would normally provide the at home delivery option.

Do I still expect there to be long lines at the Apple store, activation servers crashing, and a general wasted day on Thursday? Yes, but that's what comes with being an early adopter on something this large.

On Friday, it won't matter at all when everyone has their phones.

Im just pissed that everyone is getting their phone while non of the retails stores have a clue as to what is going on.

Maybe though this will have the servers crashing less often.

I'm with the people saying this is a good thing for those of us who reserve. Means maybe getting it in the store will go more smoothly.

Annoyed? Yes . Frustrated? Yes.

This release has by far been the most infuriating for me personally. I know no one really cares about a single person's experience, but I almost feel like Apple or AT&T is deliberately sending me a message that I should move on (Droid X perhaps?).

- I woke up at 2am to put my pre-order in, tried for over an hour and was never able to get through. All day long I kept trying, both AT&T and Apple, even calling in I was simply cut off and hung up on. Finally I was able to get a reservation in through the App. I tried the website one more time when I got home from work and it was already at the July date.

- Next day I find out that even though I was a day one adopter for each of the 3 previous versions, for some reason I don't qualify for even the "early upgrade" pricing, although the AT&T flyer makes it seem like I should be. So the last few days I've been arguing with them, and now just wondering if it makes more sense to terminate my present contract and start a new one.

- And now this early delivery business just kind of feels like a final slap in the face; while I don't really care and it won't realistically affect me, I have been a day one adopter for the past 3 iPhones and the iPad, so I'm disappointed I won't be part of that "energy" this time around. Mostly I'm annoyed because it was due to the server crashing during pre-orders.

Pretty bummed out today.

why won't you be? A few people will get their's earlier. It should make your time in line go a little smoother as they won't all be activating theirs when you get yours.

As for upgrade price, AT&T only allows those to upgrade one a year if they pay enough. The standard amount of time before they allow upgrades is 18 months. So no, if you just got a 3GS, unless you have a big enough monthly bill with them, won't be at the upgrade price. And guess what? You're still paying for that privledge as it means you'd be paying way more out of your pocket to AT&T for your higher priced contract. I kinda wonder if you'd end up paying more than if you had a lower priced contract and had to pay a little higher if you wanted to upgrade every year.

Sorry, it really annoys me seeing people think they are entitled to an upgrade every year. You signed a contract. AT&T is nice to some but that's only cause they are high payers (the people AT&T really wants to keep). They aren't getting a bargain, they're still paying for it.

I waited my full two years cause I didn't get an upgrade price last year for the 3GS and it wasn't worth it to me to pay more. You didn't see me crying about not getting a cheaper price when some others did. I just figured I'd be that much happier when I was eligible for the better phone this year. And I really won out on that bet even (and yes I was jealous of my friend's 3GS ability to do videos and better camera). I'd rather have a lower monthly bill.

And on top of htat, I'll even venture to say my 3G is still a good phone so it's not like your stuck with some dud (and if you feel you are, why do you want an iphone if you hate your current one so much? I wouldn't want to get another one if I thought my current one was bad). I'm only upgrading cause I can and I like the new iphone. Not cause I have any major issues with mine. If I was stuck with mine for another year, well I'd be sad I couldn't get the 4 I'd still be happy with mine. And hey, it would mean I'd get the even better phone next year.
