Well the overall general iPhone population do not use iOS 7. It seems to be a big issue on here. Thats what I mean.

Please, read what I wrote again.

Just once more. I did indeed compare this measly thread against the # of users of iOS 7. You know, the beta. ;)

By the way, why we can`t unlock device in BOTH directions? I think it would be useful for left-handed people for example =)))

Just checked out, personally, I can unlock in both directions with the same comfort.

I actually thought it worked that way when I loaded up beta 1. It would have been great for all the left-handers.

I'm left-handed and I have no problem swiping to the right. That being said, I would welcome being able to unlock the phone by swiping in either direction.

I think i'm getting confused here. Let's just forget about it. Friends? :D

I'm still not understanding what the issue is with the arrow. It's a tiny little carrot. What's the issue?

I think that it`s ugly. That`s all =)

How about this wild idea. Remove the arrow and replace the text with "Slide right to unlock". ;) :)

In russian it would be "разблокируйте свайпом справо"... Too long, isn`t it? Maybe on iPhone 6 with > 6" display... =))))

----------

For what it's worth (nothing), I agree with you, OP. The arrow doesn't fade in sync with the rest of the text right next to it and adds an element of asymmetry. The camera icon does the same thing, but I'm fine with it for whatever reason.

Anyway, now that the chevrons are gone, I can't see the need for the arrow at all. It says "slide to unlock", the color fades from left to right, and the entire lock screen bounces when you touch it.

Remove the arrow; users already have 3 indicators.

Agree 100%. And there`s millions of iPhone users. They can teach those who stuck at lock screen =)))))

Overall no one has problem with the slider arrow.

We can live with it for sure, but that arrow is just not beautiful.

Hello there.

I think this little arrow is most conspicuous element in beta 4.

I don`t like the little arrow afore "slide to unlock". Home screen became asymmetrical.

Users which used iPhone before iOS7 shouldn`t have unlock problems at all.

For the new users Apple should implement some kind of "tutorial mode" like it done in the "Cut the rope" game.

Once user does the action right, the tutorial tips stops showing. I think it would be nice and cool.

What you think?

keep the assymetrical bottom.
i want a GOLD RATIO shaped digital clock

This lockscreen sucks, bring back the Beta 3 top and bottom arrows and no slider arrow, please.

Hmm...still not getting it. How can a little > be beautiful or not beautiful? It's there for functional reasons but really is so inconsequential. Nothing like this monstrosity:

I feel sick looking at that!! The horror. :D

This is based on my personal sense of beauty. But for some, this may look like a joke:

The man (M) come to doctor (D) and says:
M: Doc, I have one testicle lower than the other. Please do something.
D: Hey, everyone normal man has this "feature".
M: I know, but it makes me imperfect.

Interesting example!

I don't mind it as it is, but I think it could look better.

Perhaps pulse Slide to open two or three times in the right direction, as before, then pulse arrows instead of the text. If still no swipe, back to the text alone for two or three cycles - then iPhone gets relocked.

D: Well let's just add a carrot behind them so they appear more symmetrical.

Just curious why you think the arrow looks bad?

Well, all in all, it's not that big of deal to me. But since you asked:

It's inelegant. It sticks out like a sore thumb, upon first glance it looks like a bracket open the wrong way next to the words. It takes the screen out of balance. And I would argue it's not a great arrow. Out of context by itself it's looks my like a misplaced "greater than" sign. It still requires way too much thought.

The screen was confusing before and it seems like maybe they took one too many steps to fix it. Getting rid of the arrows for CC/NC and adding the bounce effect would have been enough, I think.

But like I said it isn't that big do a deal.

It's probably quite a bit less than even that at best.

Wow I guess I didn't spend that much time looking at. But even as I look at it again it seems pretty innocuous.

It's a tiny detail in a Beta. Of this I am clear. But if we didn't obsess over tiny details none of us would be here. So... You know.
I know, I know. Still, there are so many larger details in these betas that really need more attention.

The text could scroll if it is too long. ;)

Nevertheless, just noted that the Russian lock screen does not say "> Slide to unlock", just "Unlock", which I guess is to keep it short, but at same time makes it even mote difficult to understand you need to slide. Seems more bothersome to me than the arrow itself. :)
