The latest pics look much better than the first one.

I guess if the specs are better than the 4S and it costs around $200 unlocked, I could buy it instead of a discounted Z10 or a dual-SIM 720p Android.

Whatever I get, it must have LTE and all standard 3G bands.

No way it'll be $200 unlocked - If it was - this would be an earth shattering phone. I'm wagering ~$400+ for 16gb unlocked. Would be VERY hard to justify buying the flagship iPhone if this was $200 unlocked.

ipod nano and ipod touch has so nice colours and construction build
Tell me why with the iPhone apple take this plastic step??? They didnt with the iPod cheap aka Nano, they didnt with the ipad cheap aka ipad mini...why with the number 1 apple selling product

2. They will have different names, obviously. iPhone + iPhone Pro? I'm sure they'll come up with something better than me.

ePhone.

Remember the eMac? The cheaper plastic version of an iMac with a smaller screen?

If the is a cut price iPhone what's the betting some iOS features will be unavailable too. There will definitely be a catch or downside. Apple will do it to make you wish you'd gone for the better model.

It is expected to have a 5 mpxl camera which is a step down from the existing iphone 5. It is also expected to have one flash on the back while the 5S is expected to have 2. I'm sure you are right there likely wil be software restrictions.

Unlikely. Removing operating system features would be a major, major headache for any software developers - and it wouldn't save the company any money.

If this thing gets the same rumored 13 mega pixel camera that the 5s is suppose to get...I'd buy one. I use the iphone as a DSLR replacement for my travel photography & blog.

Some of you guys can be so dumb. Looks fake? Not happening? You do know what happens every year right?

Yup. Blah blah every year!

Iphone 4... Fake! ugly!
Verizon phone... Fake! It`s not GSM!
Iphone 4S... Fake! Doesn`t sound like Apple!
Iphone 5... Fake! Just looks like iPhone 4

Hello...to those to say it looks cheap, it doesn't look any cheaper than the 3G/3GS iphone. I'm sure Apple will be able to sell tons of those. I'll buy one for the kid.

font is too bold. definitely fake

Thanks for pointing that out. You are probably right, this is probably a fake (chinese) version of it, or an earlier prototype. That said, i still think this product will come out and i still think it'll look like this. :apple:

I've started to think that this might be a terrible move by Apple. Soon there will be tons of cheap iphones that people don't care about everywhere. There'll be an apple product seen as disposable and it's going to take away from their top of the line extremely high quality product facade. They should have made these look a lot different or maybe even produced them under a different name. I really hope they release non-retina macbook pros with the haswell processors so I can get a sweet computer before they mess everything up.

I agree! Even those on welfare have iPhone's; who needs a "low-cost" iPhone?

I would take the plastic version any day over the 4 or 5. I've had to replace more LCD panels and broken backs of my employees phones. When we all had 3s, there was never once a broken phone. That's my experience.

Looks don't trump durability for me.

Well, 239 is my target price for a replacement unlocked phone.

Given that it will probably not have a microSDXC slot and my 4S is too tight at 32GB, I guess it will not be Apple for me.

If this is for the "I don't need an iPhone" people then I'm interested. My iP4 is enough but it ages... It may have another year or maybe two but I won't invest in a new battery or if something breaks in a replacement. This is for those who would like to have a cheaper iPhone ;-) because they now use the iPad for everything the iPhone did before.
That would be me. I love my three year old iPod Touch but it's getting long in the tooth. I hate my three year old LG dumb phone. Maybe this fall I replace the phone and iPT with this. Or maybe I get an iPad and keep the miserable POS LG phone. I only get one call every week or three anyway. What's the point in having an expensive phone when that's the one aspect I never use.

They _do_ look a lot different. You see on the first glance that this isn't an iPhone 4 or iPhone 5. It's plastic. And excuse me, but even for the $200 that someone suggested, a phone isn't disposable. Not to people who have to work for their money.

And excuse me, but people don't buy iPhones because Apple makes expensive phones, they buy iPhones because they think the product that they buy is worth the money that they pay for that product. They have Macs at different prices, they already have phones at different prices, they can have phones at more different prices.

Those who have to work for their money?

Looks cheap.

An elite tech company like Apple would never release such a subpar product.

Only reason they seem to be doing this is to eliminate the 30 pin connector and standardize the 4" screen in their entire lineup.

I don't agree with the idea of placing a cheaper looking product in the line up when the 4/4s are still available and will be cheaper when the 5s gets launched but I understand their business point of view.

Bye bye iPad 2

I'd be disappointed if that's the cheap iPhone. It looks really really cheap. Even the stark black text against white isn't Apple-like. They'd most likely do the FCC notices and such in a more subtle shade.

The phone is going to become a reality whether you like it or not.

You sound like the people who complained during the iPhone 4 leak saying the breaks in the band aren't Apple and that they would never make a product with those ugly bands on it.... *Looks at every iPhone I've had since*

These people never learn. The eagerness to make themselves look like utter fools is truly amazing. And entertaining!

the purpose of this phone is to get it in the hands of people in less wealthy countries or where phones are not subsidized by the carriers
