Touch ID will never be on the back, it's one of the most frequently used feature. It's used to wake the screen, unlock the phone, activate Siri, unlock apps and make purchases in apps, on the web and in stores via Apple Pay. There is absolutely NO CHANCE Apple will ship its flagship model with Touch ID on the backside. Not to mention how dumb it would look with a case on and how it will be unusable with other cases.

Since the iphone 8 will not be as tall as the iphone plus...the touchid under the apple logo is too low for your finger to be easy to unlock...so fk it.....too much is happening on the back...to crowded

Home button and touch id are not the same thing they can be moved.

If Apple ships a phone with Touch ID on the back I'll consider it a massive failure on their part. Samsung has already done that six months earlier. I want to see something better.

It will be on the back for a long time to come. Why? Apple wont have a better solution. (Why could apple fix it if samsung cant? They both have an army of money and engineers) and because apple doesnt make bad descisions they will announce it as the best idea they ever had.

Sonny Dickson track record isn't very good if we go back over the last 7 years.

It's doubtful that Apple would put the Touch ID on the back Haven't read a Samsung s8 review with positive review of rear I.D.
Anything is possible but this sounds out of wack

No, you can't promise that. If it wasn't a consideration, there wouldn't be multiple drawings of it.
These could be, and more probably are, drawings that relate to wireless charging.

Why such certainty?

Touche on that photo.

But...

*Ahem* charging on the back...

This is the only real liked design, have you seen any other professional looking schematics around, instead of just concepts from artists?

This latest new leak is a professional drawing. A lot of work went into in. Highly doubt this leak is "fake" May not be what Apple ends up making, but it's definitely a pro drawing for a real product. I actually like the idea of a large SE. So I'm good with this newest leak.

The video render looks atrocious. Like it doesn't know what it want's to be.

Just because it happened previously does not mean it will happen this year. As was mentioned earlier, this schematic could have been leaked a while ago to Samsung and they used that schematic to put the fingerprint sensor at the back. I'm saying, don't trust everything you hear or read on the internet. There is no way Apple will stoop this low, simply not happening.

Edit: Why is it not possible that this leaked schematic is of a prototype? It is definitely a prototype and this will not make it to production. I can assure you that.
Home button and touch id are not the same thing they can be moved.

But this is exactly the reason why it's the most idiotic thing to put it at the back. The majority of average users associate Touch ID with the Home Button, so now, will they separate the home button (on screen) and the Touch ID at the back? It's going to be a usability nightmare for most users, as Apple had multiple functions in one button (unlocking, home, Apple Pay) and to separating them into different buttons in different locations.

Apple's design is dead.

The TouchID in the back would make a pain in the a** to use Apple Pay.

Now, seriously, we need rumorsfor the iPhone 7s.....

Im sorry but this is becoming eternally boring - this site is struggling really for news (which I get since they try and get new news every day) but its just becoming so repetitive..

I'm going to call this the real deal and what we will see come Septemberish. Seems the most plausible considering the timeframe. I actually like this and it will most likely be my next iPhone.

I don' t agree with you on this news, it is a credible source and the schematics look professional en realistic. I agree with you on all the other concepts posted end bs rumors, but not on this one.

I can promise you, Touch ID will not be on the back.

And if it is on the back? Do you promise to not buy?

Two reasons - One, most videos/photos are taken in landscape mode, not portrait. Also, it's better for VR/AR.

So current iPhone 7 plus cant take pics in portrait mode? Or do AR (Pokemon go)?

It is vertical so people know you have a new phone

honeyyyyyy. are you serious right now this idea is worse than the rumor
I don't like that idea but if there's no option, is better to leave the back of the phone as it is now and use the apple logo as a touch ID. Fitting a touch ID sensor under the apple logo is stupid Hope this doesn't happen!
