Why can't they put the search bar at the top of the screen instead of making me swipe to the right? Lame.

Sooooo many people are gonna jump ship !

Apple, don't you know what people want ?

WIDER too, not just taller.

I think people are going to like how flexible Android or Windows phone 8 are.

iOS is more or less the same as it was 5 years ago. Same wonky home button that it built to break, same rows of icons.

When you compare it to android it makes you wonder how Apple could possibly claim that its :The Most Advanced Mobile Operating System in The World"

All I can say is I hope this is a well done fake and a ruse by the new CEO to show his skills

As Steve Jobs says it "It looks like *****". And from the start of the iphone 5 rumor this design is ugly. It looks like a brick. A long skinny brick. I liked the tappered design when before the iphone 4S was released. This design looks a lot better than the current one.Image

isn't that just an ipod touch 4g?

Let's see:

-thermal wax transfer printed fake desktop placed in a fake plastic mock-up.
-no pentalobular screws on either side of the new dock connector.
-how is it "charging" but not plugged into anything hence my first point.
-what's with the weird "clamp case" business?
-some of those icons are completely the wrong color hence my first point.
-where is the new mapping system? This isn't IOS 6 if I'm right.

I mean seriously!

I call "nicely done fake possibly based on what's been leaked thus far."

Why are there so many comments about this somehow being fake because Apple wouldn't use Philips head screws? It is clearly stated that this is a case manufacturers mockup, which is probably used for the sake of, oh I don't know, prototyping new cases? Do the screws have any bearing on this mockup serving that purpose? The rough appearance? No....it shows what this manufacturer believes to be the actual overall dimensions and location of features, not the exact phone with Apple stamped and approved components.

Its really pretty simple, either the case manufacturers are getting it wrong again (4s instead of tapered design), or this is the next iPhone. Take your pick.

Apple using 'phillips' head screws? Yeah I doubt that :)

Look at the bottom of your iPhone 4 with a magnifying glass....looks like a Philips to me....but who cares? It's a mock-up .... I'll bet when Apple releases the phone, it will look EXACTLY like the phone that they issue...

Those aren't Philips screws. Look closer - they're star-shaped holes.

As a man who owns an allan/hex set of sockets sockets, as well as a torx socket set for both regular and inverse, I know what a Philips head looks like. I also have above average vision, so that aint the problem either :)
I would not doubt that Apple used two different types of screws on these things, but I have one of the earliest iPhone 4s, and it is certainly a regular (albeit tiny) Phillips head screw.

The more we see the more I don't believe it. Tim states they are doubling down on security and we see more leaked than ever before. I am 100% there new tactic is to release red herrings to keep the news busy rather than let it be all quiet as this tends to cause people to go to extreme lengths to gain any information such as steeling prototypes from staff in bars, by keeping a slow release of info going out it takes the pressure off what's really going on.

Exactly that. I really can't see this design being real, it's just a step back (the design itself, not this crappy mock-up). If it's true then we'll all know that Mr Jobs had even more input than we thought - and that Jony Ive should return his knighthood.

And, as other people have pointed out, there's no way apple uses phillips head

I like how they have the screws right by the dock connector

Philips (+) head screws on the bottom?

Somehow I doubt it. Someone made a rough mockup from internet images on the off-chance they're valid. It certainly won't be an Apple sourced test molding.

Philips screws - fake :) Apple loves their pentalobes.

I can't wait until that giant gaping hole in the bottom gets stuffed to hell with pocket lint...

Apple rocked the Philips screws in the past. Just because they current phone uses stars doesn't imply that future versions will.

This is a 3GS (little burry, sorry). Philips screws. Right next to the dock connector. Oh, and a lot of pocket lint.

That design is terrible. I hope its fake. Its too long. The ip5 needs to bed a little wider with a 3.7 or so in screen, with an edge to edge display. Plus if the make the home button smaller, the can stretch the screen vertically.

Well that's odd. I got my iPhone 4S on AT&T's release day and the screw holes are star-shaped.

But, as someone else said, the article supposedly acknowledges this as being a case manufacturer's own mockup, so I'm not sure why everyone's getting so worked up about how the screw type somehow invalidates this as being "legit." It isn't purported to be a "legit" iPhone, it's purported to be a case manufacturer's mockup of the next iPhone.

if the iphone 5 (?) is just a stretched 4S with a two tone back... quite a few people could, and some already are, turn to a Galaxy S3

It would be rather amusing if "the new iPhone" resemble these pictures. I remember when the iPhone 4 mock-up and prototype left at the bar. MR members said that it was very un-Apple like to have visible seems, exposed visible screws and a + and - on the volume buttons. Claiming its a fake and it would not sell and so forth.

Years later we had the iPhone 4S with minor adjustments, however people are proclaiming the iPhone 4 and 4S have the best design compared to any other phone on the market at present and in the past.

MR members and the community at large has short-term memories indeed. ;):p:D

I can see the 16:9 ratio being adopted, as it is great with :apple:TV and AirPlay mirroring. The standard screws could mean a direction back to EPEAT standards. Thoughts.

I will hold judgement till its release, if this indeed turns out to be it.

I kinda wish the phone dimensions had stayed the same whilst the screen size increased. Not sure how i'll feel about the increased tallness.

Oh Boy .. I so hope this is not what the next iPhone looks like. I would like to buy a new one this fall but I don't see myself buying a turd like this.

Well, I'm sorry... but the iPhone 5 design should be much different than the current line. It seems dated and old already. I had the first iPhone, the 3GS, 4S and I'm hoping to get the iPhone 5 but if it looks like this.. I will think twice.

Look at the Samsung Galaxy III. Ok, it looks cheap because of the plastic and the screen is too big but it uses the entire phone surface which is great,it's a very thin and really fast. It's ridiculous the amount of space the iPhone uses for the camera and the home button.

It worked in the past.. it's time to move on and evolve.

Obviously it's not a functional prototype, however, I could see quite likely that it might be a correct model of the new upcoming device.

All the rumors and leaks have been incredibly consistent, and lets face it, Apple has gotten lazy. They're sitting on their laurels. Years of unparalleled success has given them a false sense of security.

Fellow iPhone fans, prepare to be disappointed.

And to Apple share holders, prepare to experience quite a financial loss throughout the next couple of years.
