If this is true,
Samsung should be very worried.

Personally, I wouldn’t use a stylus with an iPhone. Last time I used a stylus was with a palm treo.
Thanks, you just made me completely nostalgic for that damn Windows Mobile based Palm Treo that aggrivated me almost daily but I still loved the little thing.
Still have two of them in a box in the closet, that powder blueish and silver color and a navy blue and brushed aluminum look.
And one of them is missing the stylus. o_O

What I do like about galaxy note phones is that they have a spot for their stylist. That way you are not caring this pencil around separate from your phone and have a big chance of loosing it or damaging it. If new iPhones will start supporting pencil input that's great, however I am certain apple will not have a spot in their phones for the stylist since it will take up much space and we all know how obsessed apple is with size. Which means you have to carry pencil separate from phone and it becomes another thing to take up space in your pockets.

I personally don't see the attraction of using the current size pencil with a phone. The only thing that I use a Pencil for is taking handwritten notes on a 12.9" iPad Pro. I can see the utility of using the  Pencil on a 10.5" iPad but not a phone. Must appeal to the same people that use an iPad to take photos at public events as they would look just as daft with the current  Pencil size.

I have a drawer full of WinMo devices HTC, Palm, and either an ASUS or Acer I think, the branding wiped off. When I was doing mortgages I had an awesome mortgage calculator on it that figured out amortization schedules, for all the frustration and lost styluses, they paid for themselves multiple times over.

Why jump to that conclusion? Apple's latest 9.7-inch iPad offers pencil support without ProMotion so why assume the X series of iPhones will have it?

Yeah I thought this but if they are charging these phones for 1k+ and selling them as premium devices then why would they have the last gen version of Pencil support (in other words no ProMotion)? The only reason the 9.7” iPad doesn’t have it was to make it more affordable and that is a low-cost device at £319 not 1k. I don’t see why Apple would skimp out on something like that for a phone costing so much that is supposed to pack the latest tech, wouldn’t they want it matching the latest iPad Pros which are a year old at this point? Then again it also wouldn’t surprise me if today’s Apple did cheap out on it but at least there’s some hope now anyway.

Yeah the old palm treos were a hoot with Windows mobile.
They never worked right but it felt like the future, at the time.

My first windows pda was the Phillips velo, then got the nino a year later.
Fun times.

This is the ultimate victory of John Scully over Steve Jobs.

And it is part of Cooks big strategy.

I sense a straw man. I haven't heard anyone argue that Apple's use of a stylus is "groundbreaking." Styluses for portable devices have been out there for twenty years or so, well before Samsung ever used one on a phone. The Apple Newton used one. They are an obvious and much-used tool on a variety of the devices. Adding the ability to use one here is "copying" only in the most banal, irrelevant sense. What Apple is really doing is giving iPhone a much-requested and obvious feature, which some of its competitors have had for a while. That it's the Apple Pencil means it is a particularly good stylus, but that's it. It's also undoubtedly true that many people indeed will indeed feel that options are a good thing but that they will never use the stylus on their phone. I may fall into that group myself. That doesn't make us "shameless hypocrites," it just means we'll buy what we need.
Not yet and not until (if) Apple releases one. Then we'll hear it. It'll be just like what happened with larger screen sizes.

Lol, can't wait to hear how this is groundbreaking and how they're NOT copying Samsung. This is more like Apple buying time to fully copy Samsung. I'll call it now, 2020 Apple will have a Galaxy Note copy, and they will site the popularity of their users using the pencil on their iPhones. It would be way too obvious if they straight brought out their Galaxy Note clone that they already have in the works. Pathetic.
Oh and the other pathetic thing will be, the Apple apologists that trashed the Note for its SPen. And now have all of a sudden, have a new found open mindedness about a stylus on a phone. But just like Apple, they can't just come out and admit to it. They can't just be like, "it's so awesome to have the option of a stylus on a phone." That would just expose them for being shameless hypocrites, so instead, they'll say something like," I guess it's good to have options, but I'll never use it." But we all know full well, they're just dying to have it built in the phone like the Note. Pathetic and shameless.

LOL. I didn't realize Samsung invented the stylus. And from the tone of your post it is apparent that you are fully aware that Samsung copies Apple whenever possible and you are just unable to accept it. Even most Android fans now agree that most copy Apple. We all see how desperate Samsung has become over the years from their pathetic attempts at advertising. They want to be Apple so badly they can barely focus. But go ahead if it makes you feel better to continue to be in denial.

Reminds me of the old days when i had to carry a PDA for work.

I wonder how you are even going to store it, since I doubt Apple will waste precious space for a pen slot that not everyone might use.
i see trouble with it fitting into a back pocket with a pencil attached.

Destroying Steve Jobs legacy. He made clear he didn't want a stylus on the iPhone. And who the **** would use it on the iPhone? It's designed for the iPad...

I have no interest in the pencil working on the phone... unless it can be kept inside the phone like the Samsung Note.

Even then, I don’t care for a pencil. Give mouse support on iPad!
If apple won't put it in the iPad, where there is more room, they won't be putting it in the iPhone

Genuinely curious... Why do you get so worked up, into a lather no less, concerning a rumor of Apple possibly adding a stylus? That seems very unhealthy.
