So is your iPad 3 worthless.. of course not.

I can't believe the amount of complaints this is getting. Sure, the camera is better, the processor is better and it has the new port but surely your iPad 3 isn't outdated that much.

I don't care about the new processor.

I don't care about the new camera.

I JUST WANT THE LTE TO WORK IN MY COUNTRY.

So upgrade to the new model.

You knew the 3rd gen LTE model was for North America only when you bought it.

Welcome to the world of android. Where your device you bought 4 months ago is already replaced with something even better.

Thing is, different companies try to out do each other with their android devices. Apple one upped themselves and screwed over their loyal customers.

The much hyped HTC EVO 3D was useless in about 4 months. Heck, I sold one after the 4 months for $180.

I just checked the site. It has the same weight! I thought somebody said that the new one was lighter. OK, so this was just a spec bump. Whew!

This doesn't make anyone's iPad 3 obsolete. People are still on iPhone 4 and perfectly happy. Your iPad 3 is fine as long as it does everything you do with it on a day to day basis. That is all that really matters anyway.

Yes but remember, most people are dumb, and born dumb, will never change and never understand things like this....:p

Apple has set themselves up to be the top company come holiday time. With today's event, it puts pretty much all of their new products on schedule to be released right before the holidays, which, of course will help sell more. Yeah, it sucks the iPad 4 was announced today, but, for me, from someone who has upgraded to every iPad/iPhone on day 1, I think Im going to skip this one. Yeah, it would be more convenient to have the lightning connector since I have the iPhone 5 but I also have an adapter. My iPad 3 still zooms without any hesitation but I dont play alot of games on it so the A6X chip really isnt that much of an appeal to me. I dont think I have ever used the front camera so that doesnt appeal to me either.

To the OP, if it really pisses you off that much, sell your iPad 3 and get the iPad 4. You'll be able to recoup most of your money to put towards the iPad 4. But, dont be mad at Apple. Companies do what they need to do to make money and to continue to make money. The great thing about choice is everyone has one. So either be pissed off or do something about it.

Welcome to technology.

Seriously, I understand the visceral reaction, but you have to acknowledge that it's completely irrational.

So...you'd rather they not update the iPad for what reason? Because yours isn't 'newest' anymore?

What is the difference between you purchasing your iPad and not expecting to upgrade for a year, but now having the upgrade out early...vs....you wait a year to upgrade if it's 'new' in March?

Makes no sense. In either circumstance, you were planning on having your iPad 3 for a year. Now, though, if you want, you can upgrade now, and if you don't, then there is absolutely NO CHANGE to your current life.

I purchased an iPad 3 for gaming and reading. I love the Retina display but it's really lagging in performance. For example, wild blood sutters every few seconds on the iPad 3. This isn't an incremental upgrade, it's a huge upgrade. They should have delayed the iPad 3 until now instead of milk money out of customers then replace it so early.

I agree with you that they should've done the right thing and delay the release of the iPad 3 until now, when it was ready. While the 4 isn't enough for me to upgrade from the 3, it does feel like a sheisty move by Apple.

Oh well, Back to enjoying my 3.

With respect, you have no sympathy from me. Take solace in the four months of iPad 3 usage you've had already, and look forward to the next five months of iPad 3 usage. That's what you were planning on, right? You were expecting a new iPad 4 12 months after the first one, in March, right? How does your iPad 3 experience change now that there's an announced iPad 4 coming out sooner than you thought? It doesn't - your usage will be exactly the same. The existance of an early iPad 4 has absolutely no impact on the performance of your iPad 3.

The only thing that's changed is that you no longer can claim pride of ownership of the latest-and-greatest. That's a terribly prideful attitude. :(

And be happy you're not in the Android or Windows environment - new improved devices seem to come out weekly. ;)

Its all about the lightning connector

They didn't want to sell anymore iDevices with the old 30 pin connector, so they took the iPad 3 put in the latest processor and camera... Voila! The new new iPad 4, same as the 3 but a little faster. ;)

So upgrade to the new model.

You knew the 3rd gen LTE model was for North America only when you bought it.

Actually I don't.

It was advertised as LTE here. Unfortunating, there are no class action suits here like they did in Australia.

And now, with the iPad 3 officially removed from Apple's line up, the resale value should probably drop.

So my iPad 3 that I purchased 4 months ago has already been super-seeded by the iPad 4.

Can't believe how pissed of I am that the update has come so quickly. I feel like selling my iPad and telling them to stick it up their arses!!

The faster processor and better front camera is ideal for the iPad 3 retina display. This is what the iPad 3 should of been!

Unbelievable.

I'm all for technological advances and improvements to products. I fully expected them to update the iPad. Just not so soon. I do feel a little duped. One of the things that drew me away from Android toward Apple was their typical one-year lifecycle. As a consumer, it actually makes you feel like you're getting your moneys worth out of a piece of technology (for once). ...and we all know Apple sure does squeeze the money out of you for their products.

It's almost a strategic advantage in my opinion. You want bleeding edge, new gadgets every 2 weeks with as much flexibility as a 16-year-old russian contortionist? Buy an Android device. I like a lot of aspects of Android but ultimately, I chose an Apple phone and an Apple tablet as our family devices. If they keep up the trend, I might as well go back to Android.

So sell it straight away and you will get most of the money back.

I look at it differently. I can possibly update my ipad 1 to a ipad 3 on the cheap.

You people can whine and cry all you want but you love Apple so much they can do what ever they want and you keep coming back for more!:p

Looks like I'm buying 2 iPads this year lol. I guess there's no new iPad next march then... They really want go capture the holiday shopping. Yes I'm pissed but not surprised..
