Don't get pissed off.

Because the marketing genius at Apple, they have now called every iPad and all future ipad's, the "iPad", so technically speaking, our 3rd Gen, 4th Gen.... iPads will never become obsolete. :D

Same feeling, I typically bought last generation refurbished Apple product, this time, I bought a brand new "new" ipad, and it became "old" ipad so quick, should have waited now, and I can get refurbished one for nearly $200 less (including tax).

There is no "old" and "new" iPad, there is only ONE iPad. :p. Do you feel better now?

I don't understand why that would cause you to lose respect for Apple. Yes, they could have priced it lower, but its still going to sell like hotcakes.

Again, I don't disagree. I agree that it will likely sell pretty well. I honestly don't think that it will sell as well as Apple anticipates but that remains to be seen. There are a lot of people out there that don't really know or care that it's a jumble of old iPad 2 parts... they'll get it anyway.

But sales figures don't dictate my opinion on a product or company. They could sell 30 million of them in a week and I will still think it's a half-assed iPad (mini). I understand from a marketing perspective why they did it, but again, that doesn't dictate my opinion of the product or company.

It's just a double-burn. A semi-slap in the face of the iPad 3 early adopters and a lackluster "you know you could've done better at that price point Apple" iPad mini.

If they don't update fast enough, people get pissed. If they update faster, people get pissed because their toy isn't the newest anymore. People will never be happy. Technology moves on, people...

I only find it annoying on big transitions where software support may be pulled earlier. In terms of something like the ipad, I'd buy one if it fit my needs today in its current form.

Same feeling, I typically bought last generation refurbished Apple product, this time, I bought a brand new "new" ipad, and it became "old" ipad so quick, should have waited now, and I can get refurbished one for nearly $200 less (including tax).

Instead of bitter feelings of resentment, I suggest you consider this point prior to a purchase. With tech products I tell people not to factor things like the concept of residual value. You buy the electronics. They may fail. They may drop sharply in value if everyone wants the newest thing. Everyone should just expect this. If it's unacceptable to you, go back to your old habits of waiting. When you look at the price, that is to own it today. The time when I most understand this frustration is generally with extended product cycles. The imac was using technology that had been available since early 2011. At this point many people on here wanted to pay less or receive something with updated specs.

Not to mention:

He said a lot of things. He was a salesman. Why does this surprise you?

Yep whiners will whine. Haters will hate. Lovers will love.

You're upset because you want to have the newest item, not because what you have doesn't actually meet your needs.

Why does it matter if it was the best for 7 months or for 12 months? You've used it, enjoyed it and can continue to do so. It's just the way you're thinking about it that has changed.

No I'm upset because instead of thinking My $900 device will receive updates for the next say 2-3 years, has now become less because the 'newer' ipad now will be able to perform better in 2 years worth of ios updates compared to my 'old' ipad.

nobody expects to always have the newest coolest stuff, heck a week or two after the iphone 5 came out, so many android phones were released making them 'fresher'. Im just pissed off because instead of the company concentrating on making the ipad mini, the ipad 3, and other current apple models last and receive constant updates/care it seems now the company is just trying to pump out as many new products as they can to maintain market control.

for this exact reason, I'm not buying into any of the 13" retina release BS. watch, come 2 weeks they'll release a newer 13" retina, that's cheaper, has more memory and crap and probably has an a7 chip just to spite all the people on a6 and with the new mbp.

major exaggerations i know, i guess its sad that it took till today for me, an apple fan to the fullest, to realize it's time to reconsider other alternatives to apple and to seriously reconsider the hype around a new product that they release.

Exaggerations... You think?

Sad is the entitlement of your typical apple user. This whining by so many does little favors for the stereotypes regarding the type of people who buy apple today.

----------

There are around 1,000 ipad 3s (total) for sale on ebay. 550 cellular enabled versions.

Instead of whining and crying like a child, put your freagin device up for sale.

There are a lot of buyers apparently scamming on ebay. They claim to have never received device, or claim something is wrong with it etc, and getting their money back. If I can avoid b/s, I will definitely sell mine on Ebay.

what kind of people buy apple today? losers? nerds? alternative people? starbucks crowd that could get coffee anywhere? I mean anyone you list, any type of person, they can be found buying android samsung whatever, so I really don't understand "the people that buy apple today" - you don't fall under the category of people who buy apple today?

people who seem to think product complaints and consumer disappointment is found exclusively at macrumors.com need to hit that google search and read other forums. Find me a community where 100% of the people are 100% satisfied with everything and i'll join.

You may come to the forum for advice, news or just to hate on the people experiencing product issues, but please keep in mind people are free within their rights to complain and w.e here just like how you're free to come and complain about the whiners.

By all means, I get a kick out of seeing how pathetic some people can be over an inane object.

Wha Wha wha, they updated an iPad early, just before the holiday season. Oh the tragedy.

Not in a few months, that is just ridiculous. Especially in time for the Christmas season. Sounds greedy to me.

How would have the public reacted if this iPad was released on Jan 30th? This is a good time as any. Its not as if there will be a lot of people double dipping and getting the iPad 4 after the 3. I am happy to have gotten the iPad 3 at launch. Anyone who bought within that last 14 days can get it exchanged.

Signature confirmation and insurance...easiest way.

Can I be upset that I spent $600 2-3 weeks ago, and today for the same amount I would have gotten a better product?

This is not about pride.

I'm still happy with my iPad 2 that I bought in the launch weekend.

I'm still happy about the iPad 1 I got free.

No point in upgrading to the latest and greatest every time, you can't win the race.

I'm enjoying having an iPad very much. Its an awesome device to have.
