Anticipated new features for the 2016 MB?

sure - but you're cutting into battery space. Look, if people want more ports...there are plenty of options out there. If you really need more, this MacBook isn't for you. ;)
Let's see you lose a little battery for the port ... but Skylake with 30% more battery consumption should surely make up for it.
It's called progress I am sure you thought the same when the first Air was released and then boom Apple added more ports on the next release.... the Air was not for everybody and it is now the one they sell the most (or at least it was untill last year)!
May be the RMB isn't ONLY for you ;) !

A better CPU /GP/camera and or a new port would not make it heavier or larger so there's nothing to loose in updating!!!! Or are you suggesting that the RMB is perfect the way it is and shall never be updated and will be the best forever?

I'm saying that the RMB will be updated, just not now. It may have been announced last March but the first units for sale didn't arrive until June and it wasn't in stock in all stores with a full supply chain until August. The thing is not even 7 months old and Apple's MacBook team has far bigger priorities revamping their ancient Pro and Air lines. The RMB is a baby. A newborn. Talk to me at the end of the summer at the earliest, I'd bet an RMB update won't be announced until March 2017.

Seems to me someone is getting jealous there will be people with a laptop more perfect than his.

If you knew my net worth you'd be embarrassed by that statement. If Apple released a new RMB with markedly better features that one could actually feel or actually need, I'd buy it on Day 1 like I always do, sell my old one, lose $500 and not care at all.

Doing real work for 10 hours is "impossible" but if i could push the cpu a little bit more those 3 hours will make my computer last all day with no compromise.

If you're working a 13 hour day the RMB isn't for you; it's for executives who have subordinates putting in those kind of hours.

Some like to compensate thing with money....

Wanna prove it? I give you my Iban and you send me the amount to buy a rmb since it is candy money to you....

But surely there will be if and buts........to prove I am right!
With a statement like that you should put money where your mouth is or else avoid the comment.

My comment about being able to afford a loss was in direct response to your comment about my being jealous of others.

How about you don't tell me what comments to avoid after you've made an improper assumption; instead, you should avoid making assumptions.

Did not assume anything, I simply stated what you said.
Anyway you proved me right.... Thank you!

As a matter of fact you are assuming to be the only one to understand the RMB and speak as We....assuming for all of us.

Guess what I put the mouth where the money are, I am so sure that the RMB will be updated this year that if it doesn't I will buy you the next revision.... And you should do the same of if indeed does get released, how about that?

No, I speak for all RMB owners.

Exactly. I want faster processor to do some light calculation on MATLAB at home. I also want an extra port to connect my xbox controller when I stream xbox one game in parallels.

So you want a MacBook Air.

Don't wait to get what you want. Just buy it already. It's not like it's a lot of money.

Who are you to speak for all RMB owners? And I don't want an MBA because I want the screen and light weight.

Should refer to him as HRH.
He is the boss who makes so much he can speak for us all!!! And yet afraid of taking a pocket change challenge!

No, I speak for all RMB owners.

So Sure and yet do not take the challenge eh?? Even if it is not a lot of money.... Easy to write less to do, show some nuts and take the challenge!

The one thing that holds me back from buying the current rMB is not primarily just that one pesky USB-C port, but the lack of any Thunderbolt, nor a true USB 3.1 (Gen2) support. I'm worried that, judging by the size of the Alpine Ridge controller, Thunderbolt 3 won't make it into the upcoming Skylake MackBook this summer.

For me, the current USB 3.0 port in an USB-C disguise seems being like an unfinished business, that I'm not willing to put my money on. Maybe the MacBook's form-factor is representing the laptop of the future, but the chip technology inside got definitely stuck in the past already.

Fits in the Dell XPS 13 though, or would it still be too thick for the rMB?

We can bank on getting...

upgraded internals...cpu/gpu/ssd
lighter, thinner design/form factor like the macbook
usb c (hopefully with more than one port)
butterfly keyboard (hopefully with deeper key travel)
same battery life as current models
better speakers like the macbook

Things we might get...

better isight camera (1080p)
larger displays with increase in screen resolution, decrease in bezels

Things we probably won't get (wish list)...

touchid for security (maybe even apple pay for websites)
oled screen
sim tray for dedicated cellular connectivity/data
better battery life
spring loaded sd card slot that can fit entire card

"probably" :')

Are there any expected/anticipated new features for the 2016 MB? I'm guessing updated processor, graphics card...what else?

Thanks.

A full speed USB 3.1 port.
Maybe x-point
whatever the current 5 watt CPU is that intel are shipping.

Thanks for the insight, I was wondering if it was a trait of Mac users.

If that is the reason for them going to a single USB port it makes sense, as in that office newer laptops (mainly HP) were using Targus docking station which works off one USB port (It is also compatible with Macs).

Initially it was only the media guys in my place using Mac's but finance started pushing for MBA and RMB which surprised me until I noticed most were iPhone users.

I'm far less inclined to plug things into my Macbook Pro (vs. the PCs i use at work) because the keyboard and trackpad are actually nice to use. It's quite rare to find a PC laptop with a trackpad that doesn't totally suck, and the keyboards aren't great either.

That's 2 USB ports I just don't need to use straight up...

I am use to it now, and could never go back. It look a lot longer than a week to fully adjust...more like a few months.

Fair enough, thing is it's not a "failing" of the product. It's merely different. I can type 80 WPM on the RMB, no different than the other keyboards I've experienced.

By the looks of it, you could fit 4 USB-C, two per side comfortably.

That's good to know, but since the RMB is for the people who don't want or need ports, it's sort of anecdotal.

Again with this assumption.... We get it you are the only one who gets the product.....so sure and yet you still haven't answered to my challenge.....

No. Unfortunately you could not. The keyboard is in the way. See for yourself: Ifixit posted these teardown images, and as you can see there is no space left for additional ports. There won't be any space for the Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt 3 controller either, unless Apple redesigns the chassis, which seems to be unlikely.

Excellent, that's great news. I also heard that adding Skylake isn't a walk in the park either, lots of redesign is necessary.

Looks like the hordes of RMB Waiters will have to become Air Redesigners now.

I am very pleased with my rMB and not planning to upgrade. I expect Skylake and new camera (that I don't use anyway) so besides the better gpu there's not much in it for me. The cpu could always be better but this one does the job for me without beach balling. (mail, safari, iMovie animations, Keynote presentations and Sketchup design are no problem at all)
I manage fine with one usb-c port. I even prefer it that way because it keeps the size and weight perfect for my use.

But it would be nice for those who want, 'need' and wait for Thunderbolt, better camera and Skylake to get it. Why not???

Because they misunderstand the notebook's purpose while pestering happy RMB owners in discussion forums, that's why.

The people who pine away endlessly for an RMB with more ports and more processing horsepower are actually asking for a new and improved MacBook Air, not an updated RMB. The Air has all the legacy ports, has powerful processing as one of its core tenets, and just needs a retina display and a thinner/newer design and that's that. Instead of going over to the Air forum and crying about it's shortfalls and the need to make it thinner and lighter, they come here and wish that Apple abandon its strategy by making the RMB thicker and heavier. It's ridiculous already.

"Porsche sucks because it won't listen to us and add three more doors and 6-passenger seating to the 911! I'm not buying a 911 until they get their act together!" Sounds ridiculous, right? Same thing going on here. Endlessly. For over a year.
