Just did some thinking, and realized that it really is not a good idea for me to upgrade at this time. I've only had my 6 for around 8 months, and it's a better idea to wait a bit till I upgrade. I'll stick with my 6 for now, and reassess when the 7 comes out.
Ultimately I just got caught up in the excitement of this SE release, now that I really analyze I really don't think I'd be happy with the smaller size and even if I would be, its not a good time for me to upgrade. Still happy that Apple released a good solid 4" iPhone tho!
If you like the size, keep it. Honestly it's really what you get use to. Ive been using the iPhone 5 that I had laying around now for a few weeks and I picked up my wife's 6 and it felt HUGE! lol but when I first went to this 5, after using androids,I wasn't sure if I could even see the screen! Haha. But know I'm used to the 4" and I don't think I could go bigger. This thing just fits in any pocket like a champ, and just feels like I have total control all the time and especially one handed. Can't wait to get the SE but you're probably making the rational decision. You may change your mind though when you play with one and it's like twice as fast as your 6 hehe

A better question would be...

The people in the market for a SE, did the world magically dry up stock of the 5S?
I thought there was plenty around.

Is it worth starting another mobile contract for a faster processor and better camera?

I think it's more a matter of not letting this segment of the market dry up. There are plenty of people who hung on to the 5S because they liked the device's form factor and screen size, and didn't want to go up to a 4.7" or 5.5" phone. Android has also had its share of mini phones, but they are getting fewer and far between, and those that do exist are just budget phones with weak hardware or a gimped version of a larger flagship (such as an S4 Mini)

Why should the fans of smaller phones have to switch ecosystems just to be treated with second-class hardware? Apple has proven with the SE that it is possible to have a high-end phone that doesn't compromise on hardware. I'll be more than happy to vote with my dollar. :)

At least you thought about it. I got the iPhone 6 in December 2014, and my plan was to upgrade to the 7 if this SE didn't come into existence. This is the iPhone I really want, so I'll be ordering on Thursday.

We're about to find out!

What do you mean mobile contract? The phone starts at $399. I certainly wouldn't go from the 6 to the 5s, but I'll gladly go from the 6 to the SE. Many of us just weren't willing to buy the old 5s in order to have that form factor back.

I get that they want to keep that market segment open and they need a budget line.
The SE is a great deal, contract or not.
Its the people that I read that want to trade in their 6 and 6s for it.
Why did they need to wait for Apple to refresh the 5S?

My daughter has the 5S and for the life of me, I can't see why swapping it out for the SE makes any sense.
The 5S has great hardware, touch ID, and the same rez and os.

I would have been more impressed if they did the same to the 5C. Jack up the internals and make the outside more durable.
I don't need an all glass phone for a teenager.

Nobody thought that Apple was going to do another 4 inch phone. When the 6S generation came out and they still kept the 5S around, it looked a lot like how Apple kept the iPod Classic on their lineup for so many years. We all thought that it was just for the diehard fans of the smaller phones much like the Classic was for the diehard fans who needed all the space they could get. It felt relegated to an afterthought when what most people wanted was a new 4" phone with the most current hardware.

Since 2GB is confirmed, then the 5SE is mines! I LOVE the 5S design - it was Apple's best design, IMO. I'll be getting the Rose Gold.

Indeed. I don't like the 1st gen Touch ID and missing barometer on the SE, but the 2GB really compensates that for me. That along with the A9/M9 makes it a great little phone that will perform really well for quite some years to come. Good investment either way, and especially when you don't like the 4.7" screen.

My wife has hated her Gold iPhone 6 since day one due to its size. I got used to it but she never has. It looks like she's after the SE in August when she upgrades next. I did point out its missing some features like 3D Touch to which she screwed up her face and said 'so what? ' lol. She enjoys the continuity between her iPads and MacBook so she will only consider an iPhone. She is not at all bothered by spec sheets.

It's pretty much a 6s in the body of a 5s. I love the design of the 5s and will probably get one. And I want to be able to keep using my headphones without an adapter for a while longer (if rumors of no headphone jack on iPhone 7 hold true)

Cant wait to get rid of my 6s and get the SE. Just been looking at some pics of the 6s and SE side by side and the SE just makes the 6s look so ugly. My 5s was always my favourite phone and the perfect size, and now i can have it with huge specs, i am so happy.

I was going to wait until they had been launched a few weeks just in case there are any quality issues, but i can wait so am going to order one on launch day.

I doubt they will add live photos and the 12mp camera. It they did it would be called the iPhone 6s se or whatever. Calling it the 5se probably means it will be an iPhone 5s but just updated specs. Maybe with an A9 but I would bet on an A8. The big difference between the 5s and 5se would be it would have Apple pay

So they added a 12mp camera and the A9.

They named it as an SE so that it will remain a standalone product upgraded intermittently on its own schedule and without any attachment to the naming conventions that become obsolete. Five years from now, no one will want a 6se, but an updated SE will still be marketable.

I've been crying for a 4-inch phone. Am so glad they brought it back.

You're right, it really is all about what ur used to. I'm used to the 6 and like it, so that is why I'm keeping it. Once the 7 comes out I'll re-evaluate and decide which size I want: I'm sure it'll be the 7 cause I know I'm gonna want that when it comes out! It should have an even better cam, 3D Touch, and who knows what other features.

I remember having a 4.6" Z3 Compact by Sony - was quite compact already and waterproof - I really can't remember what 4" feels like in hands again.

Back and forth on the SE or the 6S, but since Verizon had a $100 off for an upgrade with a payment plan, I decided to get the 6S today ( $ 549.00 ), and pay it off next month. I really wanted the 5MP front camera, 2nd generation Touch ID, Better screen, and the Barometer.

Good luck to you guys and the SE

As much as I was excited about getting the SE, the more I think about it the more I realise what I really wanted is a smaller phone again but not a 4 inch screen.

I really wish Apple would have come out with something different (not that I dislike the 5's design, I actually love it) but if they had put some effort in making the bezels smaller, come out with a phone similarly sizes to the SE, maybe even marginally larger, but with a larger screen than 4 inches.

It seems Apple took the easy (lazy?) road with the SE and missed an opportunity for those of us who wanted a premium small form-factor device.

They probably weighed their options and decided it'd be more profitable to strip it of a couple 6s features and sell it at a lower price than to keep all of said features and sell it at a higher price.
