Ouch! Sorry you broke your lens.

Well something did happen tonight and I hope it was just a one time thing. I was going to take a picture of my husband and the camera gave me a blank screen for about 20 seconds. The phone was on and unlocked and all, but when I pulled up the camera there was just nothing but black where the camera view should have been. I hope that doesn't happen again. I'd hate to miss one of those special moments due to another glitch like this.

Yes, I recall this happening one time when I used the haptic feedback icon on the main screen. It has not happened again. I am running iOS 12.1.1.

Yes, too big, going back to ip7 and wait until next year.

I liked the all screen and no home button, but the size after a week bothers me so much that I returned it.

With my XR, when I take a photo of an illuminated display (like the screen of another iPhone), the colors look way off and just awful. Anyone else have this issue? Try it...no flash, just take a photo of another iPhone screen.

Yes! the screen of another phone (that it´s in the picture) looks totally blue.

I tested the same with an iphone 7 and SE and they don´t do that...

I can confirm this issue. First picture is taken with my XR, second with my Mi Mix 2S.]

Thanks. Yeah, it's strange. Never had that with my previous 7+ or 8+ phones.

Also had a weird display on my little red treadmill LEDs.

I can't get my BT headphones, the Audio Technica ATH-SR 5 BT to pair with my Xr. No problems and very stable with my previous 6s and my iPad (Mini 2). It's like Apple wants me to spend on headphones too:eek:

I’ve been loving my Xr so far, got it on launch day. I haven’t had any issues other than my idiot self. Exactly one week after getting it it fell off a divider in my house and... well you can see in the attached pic what happened. It’s a very slippery phone, I hate using cases and it slipped off my night stand once while charging from notification vibrations. I’m really hoping my credit card purchase protection will help me out on this...
Sorry about your lens. It’s such a lottery when you drop your phone. I have a case on mine and a few days ago my toddler threw my max down the stairs but luckily it didn’t have any damages.

I hope you are able to get it fixed via your credit card.

OMG, your sweet baby did that?!!! Toddlers! I’m glad your Max made it through okay! I guess your toddler prefers Android? ;)

This is a picture of my iPhone 8+ taken with my XR running iOS 12.1.1 beta. I resized the picture and it doesn't look nearly as good as the original.

I really wouldn’t worry too much about how my phone camera takes pictures of other phone’s displays. There’s always all kinds of weirdness trying to take pictures of another phone’s or computer’s display anyway. I wouldn’t really consider this “a thing” though I do understand it’s annoying and I do appreciate folks taking note of it since that is what was asked for.

I’ve done a lot of testing and overall colors of scenes are excellent and very accurately match what I see in real life.

I guess I’m just unlucky. I have had 3 different iPhone XRs with part of the display yellow. First one was top right and bottom left corners, second was about 1/4” in from the right bezel all the way top to bottom and now the new one is like that but on the left. True Tone ok makes it worse (And I like using True Tone).

The only issues I have is that text is too small in Safari and there's no way to change that except zoomed view, which makes everything else too big. And that the camera lacks contrast and doesn't handle highlights well at all in low light situations.

My 3 year old Nexus 5X takes more detailed photos with less noise in low light, and it handles the highlights much better. The caveat is that HDR+ has to be used on the Nexus, and I have to wait for a couple of seconds between photos while it's processing or I risk running out of RAM and get corrupted photos.

I hoped that Apple would be on a near Google pixel level for low light this year but it's not even close. In good light it's amazing though except for lack of contrast.

I can't reproduce this at all. Were you using Smart HDR when you took that? I'm not sure HDR is suitable for photos of screens. I wonder if there's improvement with HDR disabled...

Many dropped calls and AirPods take forever to connect.

Strange. The AirPod should be instant, and I mean like instantaneous once you open the lid, it _should_ be immediate when the Airpod display icon appears on your screen that they are connected. I would try unpairing with the AirPods, then re-pair and see if this makes a difference.

I've tried that. It doesn't bother me as much as the dropped calls. That's something I have do idea what to do about. I installed the 12.1.1 beta today, but still has dropped a couple times today.

Agreed, they always pair immediately for me and this worked on all the iPhones I've used. I paint myself lucky or blessed as I've not had a single dropped call and on Friday I did a full 2 hour phone conference using my phone. I am on AT&T not that it makes much difference I suppose. I hope you get it figured out!
