Sitting here on lunch and called my local AT&T. They said they have all colors but do not have 256GB. Seems most places are only getting a limited supply, if any, of the 256 option with a lot of supply for the 64 GB option.

Which is why it’s rarely worth upgrading a phone that’s only 1 year old. Unless you have a desperate need for wireless charging, there’s no reason to go from a 7 to an 8. Coming from a 6 or older though, I think it’s a very good upgrade.
The thing is, coming from a 6 or older, the 7 is also a very good upgrade, and much cheaper for 128gb than the 8 is for 256... Really the 8 only makes sense if you're on a 6s and for whatever reason want or need an upgrade and are happy with 64gb storage, or i suppose if you absolutely have to have 256gb storage in which case i guess you're probably willing to pay the premium anyway...

any news of lines for the iPhone 8 and 8+ outside of any Apple store?

Nope.

We must also start considering income levels and the price of the iphone. To some, they are just not affordable anymore or their current iphone doesn't need to be changed. Times are changing.
In the US, not really since carriers are still offering installment plans. However, I do think there are those who are waking up to the fact that high end smartphones aren't just $199.

I am going to make a prediction. The Iphone X won't have that big of a line neither, except for scalpers trying to sell the phone overseas. The smart phone craze is officially over, there is nothing exciting that Apple will offer with the X except poop emoji's.

Really agree. This years iPhone launch is very disappointing (and I’ve owned petty much every model since the 3G). The 8 isn’t much of an upgrade over the 7, and the iPhone X just screams “douchebag phone” (for people who just want to show off they have more money than sense, so they can scan their face and make themselves into poop emoji’s). Yep, I’m sure the X will sell reasonably well, and if people have that much money to blow on a mediocre upgrade, that’s up to them. Would be better if people saved their money and did something good with it, like donated to the people in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, etc who’s lives were basically destroyed recently. But, I’m sure they will prefer to spend it on this thing hoping it somehow makes them cooler (cause we all know they will show it off every chance they get, hoping people ogle over it). Of course, that’s when they are not doing other douchey things like watch the Kardashians, while shopping at Whole Foods, before going out to eat Organic Vegan Vietnamese Pho...

But, I’m also not naive. Their money, their iPhone Douche...errr...X.

There was a small line at my Apple Store this morning. I already had a pickup appointment for 5PM, but was able to arrive at store opening. And yes, they did applaud. The launch was subdued this time around to say the least. Even the 7/7+ was more exciting and I didn't even end up with a launch day phone.

A lot of people will say this is because the X is coming out which may be true, but that doesn't change the fact that the 8 seemed to be underwhelming as far as turn out at least.

What a JOKE. No lines at the Apple Store in Fairfax Virginia. After holding the new IPHONE 8 and 8+, they are also a JOKE. Anyone with a 6 or better might as well save their money and see what happens next year. I will be investing in a new battery pack for my Iphone 6s, and not wasting a DIME on the 8 or X.

Well, I would argue that if one truly has a 6, (and not 6s) then upgrading to the 8 is quite a worthy upgrade. Overall, the phone is probably 2-3x faster, the haptic home button, 3D touch and MAJOR camera upgrades from the 6 is pretty significant.

Did you know the Note 8 officially released earlier this week?

I thought the X was going to be available Worldwide? Why the need for scalpers?

Also, consider that the last subsidy ended when Verizon stopped doing it. This is the first iPhone release with no carrier subsidies.

Sentiments shared.

My local Best Buy has gotten -zero- 256gb Plus phones, but has plenty of 64's and also 8's of both capacities.
Same with the AT&T store next to them.

No line, but a fair amount of people at the Apple store this morning when I went around 8:30 this morning (store opened at 7am just for today). The store was packed with Geniuses. I was able to walk right in and learn all about the phone and accessories as well. They didn’t have the 8+ 256GB in stock for gold or silver. I didn’t ask about the space grey. Many customers had appointments, so I figured their first stock may have been mostly for pre-orders. The person helping me said I could come back in a day or two and they would most likely have them.

Received a text from Verizon saying to stop by my local Verizon store as I was leaving the Apple store. Kinda funny since I planned on stopping there next anyway. No line there either. I walked in at 9:20am and they had opened at 9am. Only one other customer was in the store. Another had just left as I was walking in.

Was able to leave the store with an 8+ 256GB in silver. Very easy launch for the 8’s. I’ll have my popcorn ready when it is time for the X, lol

There seemed to be a decent line at Apple stores in NYC based on Instagram photos and when I passed the 5th ave store this morning. Search for the Apple Store locations under Places and you can see lines.

Honestly it's to be expected, many are waiting for the X. Also, the 8/8+ did not sellout in pre-order so most people could have ordered whenever they wanted and gotten delivery today/this weekend. No point in waiting in line for that.

Went to Apple Store in Houston Galleria mall during lunch break. There is no line. Got 8 plus 256gb silver for my son, in and out within 10 minutes. Smoothest iPhone launch EVER!

Not sure why people thought that subsidies gave them a phone for $199. With the two year agreement and plan amounts, they were paying for the full amount for the phone anyway. More if they kept it after 2 years. Now it's just more transparent

No line at UPS hub this morning. There is usually 10-15 people doing will call, in fact UPS brings in extra customer pickup employees on iPhone day, but I was the only one in there when they opened.

What ever happened to those yayhoos that started to get in line before the actual Keynote presentation? Think they saw the X wasn't going to be available for 6 weeks and said screw it and went home?

Went to an Apple store in socal today and it was pretty busy with people checking out phones and picking up. No lines at all throughout the day according to the employee there and they had stock available for walk-ins.

Was at the Pasadena Apple Store and they said they had a high stock of iPhone 8 and Plus in all storage capacities and colors!
