Eh, I'll stick with my 7. I've only had it since March, and my T-Mobile financing doesn't allow annual trade-ins. So I have the 7 at least through March 2019, but I can't complain because it's an improvement over the 5 I had for 4 years.

If I had a 7 I’d probably roll with it for another year. I have a 6s+ with a squirrelly battery so I am going to get an 8+.

I’m gonna pass on the X this year. Hope to get second gen X next year. Already on IUP so I’ll be paying $40/month for next year anyway, so I’m gonna upgrade from 7+ to 8+

I honestly cannot find a compelling reason to upgrade my 7 plus 128. I feel like I'd either be downgrading my storage or having to pay more when 128 is perfectly fine for me. This would be the first time since the 3G I didn't purchase a new iPhone at release.
Same here. Love my 7plus and not thrilled with the X face ID. First time since the 4 not intending to upgrade. Apple TV 4K useless if you don't have a 4K TV. Only item interested in is the watch with cellular that will connect to my air pods.

Nope! My 7+ is still amazing and the X is just too much money and I don't want to be a beta tester for Face ID. The 8 is just not enough of an upgrade for me to splurge that much money on.

so I have a battery case on my 128gb 7 which gives me a full days worth of power. I can’t see myself wanting to remove the case on the daily to charge an iPhone 8 and then charge the battery Case separately as normal. Wouldn’t make much sense.

Also I’d be paying more than I did last year for an extra 128gb of storage that I don’t need (although I do need more than 64gb). Is there any point at all to upgrade for those that have a 128gb iPhone 7, don’t care about wireless charging and don’t need the extra storage?

Seems like I’m gonna spend the next month trying to convince myself why I need to drop a mortgage payment on an X when I really don’t need to lol

So....for iPhone 7 owners....any point in upgrading to an 8?

I think you answered the question yourself.

7 plus here. Not upgrading any time soon. Who cares if my phone sees my fingerprint or face. Big deal.

The only reason I’m considering it is because I have the IUP.

Me too. I don't want the X, but I'm on the IUP so I may just get the 8 Plus since I can and see what the next X phone brings next year. I do like the wireless charging. I came from Android last year and that was really something I miss. I have like 6 QI chargers floating around that I can't do anything with currently. I already did the pre-approval so I'll mull it over until Thursday. Still not sure if I'll pull the trigger.

I'm on the fence. I'm on the Apple plan, so it really doesn't make much difference money-wise, but my 7+ is great and I think the software update is gonna be a pretty nice upgrade, so this might be the first year ever I don't get a phone at release.

I'm just not sure what I think of the X - I'd really need to see it.

The only thing is if I decide to get either one a few months down the road, it'll screw me up for being able to get one at release next year and IDK if I wanna do that.

A11 faster, duel speakers, true color display, better cameras, glass back! I am going upgrading to the 8! The 10 is too big for my needs! 8+ is giant size!

7 to 8? Meh.

5C to 8? Hell yes. That's my wife's upgrade path.

Stop getting all pissy about getting "mere" incremental updates. Sit out an upgrade cycle or three, and then make the jump bigger.

If I had a 7/7+ with IUP I'd so much rather finish out payments and own the phone than trade up and continue leasing the next one

That's just me tho

Agree with your logic.
Next year trade in value would not be that great. Would be nice for back up unit though. Not in situation to give as hand me down.

As Someone owning the 7+, the iPhone 8 will not be justifiable enough for me to upgrade, as where the iPhone X will meet my preferences. I would say all the features you listed, Tru-Tone is a nice add on from the iPad Pro lineup.

The jump from the 6s to 7 was significant and I don't see why many people in this thread feel that isn't the case. Water/dust resistance alone is a huge upgrade, but a better display, stereo speakers, A10 fusion, better cameras, faster wireless, better battery etc. are pretty great upgrades imo (and don't forget the 3GB of RAM in the Plus).

That being said, the jump from the 7 to 8 doesn't seem as significant. It is faster, better cameras, True Tone could be nice etc. but some other upgrades from the 6s to 7 (water resistance, battery) aren't there. I would make an exception for wireless charging, but I don't believe that is supported out of the box; you need an accessory for it.

Water resistance is the only potential benefit I see for me. But at the cost of losing the headphone jack - which for musicians is still important.

It's not so much the lack of more "upgrades" but that sone if this has been looking more like downgrades. The 5s was a better phone than my 6s because of the form factor ( new ones are too big and too thin). Loss of headphone jack on the newer ones.
It's like the new laptops. Thinner with worse connectivity.

for me, I hope that thanks to glass design I will be able to hold 8 without apple case.. 6/6s/7 is too slipery to go without case:(

They reason I'm upgrading is because I have a 6+ and I feel the RAM bottlenecking every day.

If I had a 6s Plus I wouldn't be upgrading at all to be honest.
