Had 3 samsung, 1st one has 1 dead pixel, 2nd one has backlight bleed, 3rd is perfect. but the 3rd one has poor fitted bottom cover. Waiting for 4th one.

First one was an LG with major display issues (flickering screen). My 2nd one is also an LG but no problems so far.

I haven't had a problem with my LG screen.

Remember, this is the internet, and it is usually the dissatisfied that make the most noise. That doesn't actually mean that there are more of them than the satisfied. It simply means they have a reason to make noise while the rest of us use our new MBPr in peace.

I was satisfied with my LG screen (seriously best screen I've ever seen) until two days ago when I noticed IR starting to set in. I've had it for a month exactly today.

It's only gotten worse since. Shorter times for burn in, longer times for it to disappear. Wouldn't be a problem if watching a movie or gaming, but since I don't usually fling my internet window around every 5 seconds, it causes image retention.

i bought a danby compact mini fridge and the motor (compressor) is made from LG so far it keeps the fridge cold.

thats a good thing?

2 samsungs with bad light leak. now an lg wth very very minimal light leak and no dead pixels. not sure about retention because its not noticed in real world use for me.

2.7/16/512 w/LG screen - no problems at all (so far). Screen is perfect; no dead pixels, no ghosting, etc.

Now if we can only get a software fix for the choppy scrolling!

Because this is an issue that's been widely reported and talked about in various places all over the web, I can't help but think that Apple is working diligently on a fix.

Typically silent, it doesn't mean they're ignoring it.

It's just the way Apple chooses to operate. Being their flagship product this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see a resolution before too long.

So far so good.Flawless.Hopefully stable 10.8 updates for all mac owners out there...:)

LG near perfect

I have what appears to be a near perfect LG. I can't seem to get any IR issues to present themselves, but of course the unit is only HOUR in the use (although, the battery cycles were 3 when I opened it up?)

The only issue I have with the display is it doesn't seem to get very bright. When on battery and out say at a coffee shop, indoors with ambient light I have to keep the display with TWO clicks down from the top, so showing TWO clicks to full brightness. Normally, with my older MBP's I could be with about 3-4, usually four clicks down from full and that was fine.

I'm not sure how the difference in clicks relates to POWER CONSUMPTION, since technically power should be a function of brightness output and two displays emitting the same brightness should consume the same power, regardless of what that little setting is at.

It seems the LG displays do show lower brightness than the SAMSUNG. I'm not sure if that is a reason for replacement.

Another weird issue though is that the serial number lookup, shows this unit as a 2.3 (when it was a 2.6 BTO) is that normal?

What was wrong with your Samsung.

I had a white smokey spot right of center in the lower third, it was extremely noticeable with a darker background, but even obvious with a lighter background. Geniuses looked through Apple's stock solid background colors to see if it was more to one or the other.

It was dime sized, so it wasn't really livable when all is said and done, at least when working with design apps.

Its all very well saying the LG screen is perfect and flawless, but isn't their a chance the IR could develop and get worse/appear say a year down the line?
