Yoiks. Ten pages of people who are angry that anyone dares to have a different preference from their own.
Ten pages of people demanding that everyone in the world should be their clones. Geez.
Freedom is choices.
Why not allow people choices to work the way they want to work and to have different opinions?
Apple could let us choose to have Siri make comments, choose whether to have the iphone think for them by sorting their photos, creating albums. geotagging and any other feature.
You, too, could have the features you love, and brava. others could use those features or turn them off.
Everybody happy!
Seems like most of that has already been expressed throughout the thread.

The comments are a bit lame, but we're no where near the talkie toaster in Red Dwarf.

What I want is for Siri to become a hard nosed trainer who calls me fat, tells me off for entering the kitchen or threatens to block Apple Pay if I drive too close to Goodberrys

That would be hilarious if Siri got an attitude and started back talking to you and such. "Put down the donut, Rollie pollie" or something like that. Would be funny

It is not a problem.

Just do not use Siri. I find her humor refreshing in a world of divisiveness.

I think that's great that you love Siri and her remarks and I think you should be able to enjoy her to the end of the earth. I'm glad Siri gives you joy.

But many of us want a way for us to turn Siri comments off, while preserving your right to have her to your hearts content. That'd be a win/win!

Wow. Did I really just read this? First world problems hey. At least I have more things to worry about then Siris response to a timer! Jeez!

Most of the complaints on Macrumors are first world problems.

Show Siri to someone from 20 years ago and it would be magic.

People need to take a step back, realize the world we live in and appreciate just what amazing stuff we have.

I laugh at it every time I read the latest posts.

People are so intolerant of things they do not like. It is what our educational system is now producing, maybe a nice safe space for them to protect them from any possible remarks from Siri!

They annoy me too. We use home kit to turn our house off when we go to bed. Nearly every night she makes some smart comment instead of just doing what I said and then turning off the screen.

If Siri was 100% reliable that would be one thing. But nothing is worse then failing to do what I asked and still making a 'cute' remark. Siri isn't good enough to be cute yet.

Is it the biggest problem in life? Far from it. Is it something that annoys me? Sure.

All I need from Sir is exactly what I request without the jokes. I'm not annoyed with the jokes, but I think it's not necessary. And I use Siri frequently and appreciate what she is capable of.

Example of what I don't need:

"Hey Siri, what's the temperature outside?"

Siri response:Brr, it's cold outside.

It's odd because I use Siri often and almost never get any snark. I just asked about the weather a dozen times several different ways and got nothing but straight answers.

I wouldn't consider it "Snark" as much as I do Siri attempting to be Humorous. Last night, I asked Siri the score for an NBA playoff Game and she replied how the opposing team was being "Pummeled late in the 4th quarter with four minutes remaining" and then citing the score. I'm not interested in the added, unnecessary flippant dialogue, the score of the game is all I requested.

That's funny. This afternoon I asked how my Red Sox did today and Siri said something like, "The Red Sox eked out a 4-3 win over the a Rays." :D

Funny as in similarity:D So basically you're saying Siri responded the same way to me as she did you, except implementing the word "Eked" as she did with the word "Pummeled" from my response, and then followed by the score of the game after the fact. Essentially, it's the exact same response, just worded differently. :D

I agree! All these selfish and entitled people complaining because they don't like what the OP wants.

OP - "I don't like Chocolate ice cream. Is there any way for me to get different flavor?
...then 10 pages of responses...
"But I LOVE chocolate ice cream!
"Me too!"
"Why would anyone ever NOT want to have ONLY chocolate ice cream?!"
"What you've asked for is not a third world problem, buddy, Look around. Recognize where you're at, and whom you're speaking to. We only address legit third world problems at macrumors!!! This ENTIRE FORUM is devoted to nothing but solving nagging third world problems. If you don't have a bona fide third world problem, then please take your gripe to an appropriate forum. Basically if you're not starving and surrounded by flies right now, go to another site with your silly iPhone issues!"
"I love chocolate!"
"Why would you want something different?"
"Here's another vote for chocolate!"
"I don't actually like chocolate, but I have enough couth to never mention that fact within earshot of Apple."
"Just be happy you were allowed to buy an Apple son, and if you find something you don't love about it, -then buy a dang Samsung."
"Dude, you only spent $800 on your phone. Pleeease. I'd have to spend a lot more than that to feel I had any right to ask about settings."
"Pat me on the head Apple, here's another diligent vote for your chocolate."
...and so on, and so on...

I mean, you couldn't be more dead-on correct. People really ARE incredibly childishly selfish and complaining, all because they don't like what the OP likes.
Instead of spending so much time and effort posting to "strike down" the OP's question, perhaps consider answering it, or even moving on without comment.
I'm trying to help by getting the conversation back to the OP's topic, -can anything be done. Instead there's just 10 pages of about how much you love <3 <3 <3 what he is trying to avoid. I found this thread because I have the same gripe as the OP. Obviously, I learned when I got here and read the thread, that you guys only discuss/solve third world problems at this site. This is obviously the LAST place to find an open/legitimate discussion on this "siri's clever quips" topic. I wish there was a forum were people could discuss such iPhone topics without solely incurring the wrath of the disgruntled Apple fanboys. Too many hurt feelings when you talk about iPhones here.
I get the distinct impression that whatever discussion you had about the U2 album we all got forced on us, was passionately defended here (and ONLY here), by fanboys with sincere tears streaming down their devoted cheeks. "But I LOVE U2!" "Buy a Samsung buddy!" ...all that.
