You can't use Google to set the timer or alarm. I too think the remarks are stupid so as soon as she starts replying, I press the home button to shut her up.

The alarm or timer still gets set.

Yeah. But you probably don't have to use the Timer function as often as I do.. Every single day, multiple times a day. Over the course of 1-2 years.. c'mon now.

I would say your use of the timer and Siri was out of the normal. Siri and her sense of humor is for people who use it occasionally. No way Apple can plan for everyone and you will either have to put up with it of actually use the keyboard.

Is there any way to TURN OFF Siri's STUPID comments?

I am using an iPhone 5s (iOS 8.0.2) .. I use Siri pretty much all day (setting timers mostly -- helps keep me on task).. I am SO SICK of listening to all of Siri's STUPID ******** COMMENTS every time I use this function..

When setting a timer:

"oh the suspense is killing me"
"some stupid ******** ***** about a good iphone doesn't boil over"
"roger that"

When my GF asked Siri where the closest tanning salon was:

"It's not good to be overdone"

ARE YOU ******** KIDDING ME? I get that Apple is trying to be "edgy" and "cool" and "hip" but commenting on someone's life choices is not Apple's place..

The rest of the things I mentioned are just plain annoying.

I would like to use Siri, have it do what I ask, not throw in some stupid comments after everything I do.

Is there a way to disable that aspect of it or is this yet again, another design flaw by Apple?

My Siri does it every time as well and I agree that it's really annoying. If you find a way to shut it off share it here. Maybe we can just ask Siri to close her mouth.

OP, I think she's doing it at this point, BECAUSE she knows it pisses you off.
That said, it's just a design of the App. Don't like it? There are other ways to set a timer without having to go through Siri.
Also, if it bugs you that much, submit something to Apple about making the humorous comments an option.

Simply hit the home button or the sleep/wake button once she responds. It won't cancel your request and it will stop her mid sentence.

Kind of imposing judgment.. don't you think?

So a siri funny is now 'imposing judgment'?

Are we looking for reasons to be offended? I mean, I get your OP and largely agree, but imposing JUDGMENT?

I *DID NOT* say it was a flaw.

The problem is that it should be customizable.

It's called an "I" phone.

so "I" should be able to turn that **** off if it's bothering me.

The "I" doesn't mean what you think it means

lol you seriously got butt hurt from Siri's witty comments?

don't use Siri if you don't like her, any thing she does can still be done one the phone without her getting involved in your personal life choices

The fun and whimsical aspect of Apple's ethos is why I am a fan, not just a customer.

OP have you considered just setting Voice Feedback in Siri to Handsfree Only?

Would this not mitigate your "issue"?

You have to ask Siri. She's a person!

This is bizarre, I use Siri all the time for setting reminders and the most I get is "Ok, I'll remind you." Is this "witty" banter from her a new thing in iOS 8 or something?

No, I have this on 7.1.2 as well. Like I posted earlier, once she starts to speak after I tell her to set an alarm, I then hit the home button so I don't have to hear her annoying jokes.

Oh God massive 1st world problems coming in hard....Sorry man but I don't see how that's judging...its just advice...take it or leave it...

Perhaps Apple should add a setting to the welcome screen when you first setup your iPhone that asks "Do you have a sense of humor?" If the user says no, then it could automatically send in an RMA to Apple and suggest the user buy an Android device instead.

I've also found it mildly annoying, no where as much as the OP though.

No sense of humor > a bad sense of humor.

I'd fire a real personal assistant if I couldn't get them to stop adding a terrible sense of humor to everything I said. :D

Doesn't matter though, you can't turn it off so your options are limited to not using it or dealing with it.

Why not just turn Voice Feedback off? It's in the Siri settings. Just change it from "Always" to "Handsfree Only".
