Did they ask you to fax a receipt?

i didn't buy mine outright. I bought it via a contract upgrade for $199.

they didn't ask me anything except my number (i gave my moms) and my imie (i gave mine) and thats it. :D

although i did it the 2nd day that they were offering it when i KNEW **** was going to hit the fan and they would be too busy to look into it much, and it took like 2-3 weeks for them to email me. (small price to pay though)

Apparently all folks unlocking early in April were lucky as the new policy was being rolled out. The overwhelming response of people made ATT change a lot of policies... (which we are not liking) but thats how it is.

Has anyone got an iPhone 4S on contract with AT&T unlocked? Got rejected twice stating that I am still on contract. And I am going to be leaving the country in the few weeks....!

Yes. I have 3 lines on my account, 2 with iPhone 4 & 1 with iphone 4S, all still under contract ranging from 6 months (both iphone 4) to 18 months (iPhone 4S) remaining. All 3 phones have been unlocked by AT&T but it did take quite a few calls to get the right reps to do it.

Restored and received 'Congratulations' screens for the 4s & one 4, but not for the other 4. However, IMEI.info confirmed unlocked status for all 3 phones and they all worked with t-mo SIM's.

I got mine (iPhone 4 GSM launch-date) unlocked two weeks ago.

I called them up, I told them I wanted to get my phone unlocked for international traveling, they said okay, asked me a few questions (account wise). I was told it could take up to a week or so to finish the process.

Got to the UK last week, bought a Pay-as-you-go Vodafone micro-SIM, stuck it in my phone, and it worked flawlessly.

Good experience. Customer service was great and friendly. No problems at all.

:)

Can samebody help unlock the iPhone 4? Please help! if u have ATT account you easy can call and order to unlock! Thank you!

what about ebay sellers ? i see people are selling service to unlock AT&T iphones for like $80 ? who will pay that kind of money if u can get it done from AT&T for free

Tried via online chat today for fun (4S on contract) they said no. I saw some people said they got there's unlocked so figured it was worth a try

Interesting. My 3GS was unlocked via the online chat. Well, the rep took the initial request and opened a case for me. It took about 3 days to get an email to complete the unlock process.

I was able to do the same thing when I unlocked one in the first couple of weeks. When I tried for a different phone yesterday, I was instructed to call c/s.

i think they don't make a big deal on 3GS as most of them are off contract already

When you call in do you ask for technical support or customer service?

For people who don't have access to AT&T, $80 would be a pretty good deal since the price difference between unlocked and lock is $150 ~ $200.

It's an easy flip. :p

My unlock worked fine, called on 9 May, received unlock on 11 May. iPhone 4s on my primary line!

If you check out some of the auctions for the unlock service , you will see that most but not all have the same requirements for unlocking as going to at&t directly .

They dont have some backdoor way of unlocking phones . Just taking advantage of people who are unaware of at&t new unlock policy .

One guy has made over 4k requesting unlocks for people . You can be sure that many people on this site begging for help unlocking are these same scam artists on ebay selling this as a service .

They will only unlock 5 per account per year but somehow a few sellers on ebay have feedback for 40 or more unlocks .

Did you buy the phone on contract?

Yup, upgraded to an HTC One X for a week, while I upgraded that, I put in for the unlock on the iPhone and then returned the HTC once I got my unlock - another way to game the system!

Still kept my upgrade and grandfathered unlimited data plan once I put the iPhone 4s back on my primary line too.....

Way to go!

Sounds like a totally unnecessary step.

You can get it unlocked without doing all that jazz.

Easy I submitted and unlock on my account for my friends on contract 4S he submited mine on his both are unlocked now

I used a line that was not under contract to unlock an iPhone 4s that was under contract and was turned down (3 times).

Yeah that wont work because the IMEI of that phone is associated with the account have a friend who has AT&T submit the unlock instead worked for me

So if I buy a phone on Craigslist I would be able to unlock it even though the line that purchased the phone is still under contract? As long as it's not a line on my account?
