umors were swirling about regarding a 16" laptop, I guess that rumor has been put to rest.

Maybe not, I would not be surprised if this has been done so they can focus on a new 16" at the next event.

I find it funny, that they already included the 2019 MBP in the keyboard program on launch date:

I just posted about that in another thread, was chuckling heavily to myself :)

We should note that the new materials replacement only applies to the 2018 models.

What they have quietly done here is relegated 2016 and 2017 buyers to a perpetual life of keyboard replacement hell.

They have totally screwed those customers over.

They should be doing a buyback of 2016 and 2017 models if they have conceded there’s a problem and are changing materials but not giving it to those owners.

I don't think we'll see any laptops at WWDC. They've been moving away from hardware announcements at that event, though I do think we may see a sneak preview of the Mac Pro.

I'm of the opinion if they were to roll out a 16" laptop it will be in place of the 15" I don't think we'd see both being sold. I have nothing to base that on, other then my personal opinion.

Indeed, wasn't thinking of WWDC, more that they will milk the current design as much as they can then produce the 16" or whatever new design at the next event, probably the Sept/Oct one or whenever it is.

Probably some new watch bands and a couple new Animoji’s too.
Hey maybe we can get a dumb game demo also.

I’m sure there will be plenty of bragging about how great everything is and all the Bezos charts say it’s all on the up and up....and then we can have the obligatory, completely nauseating, navel gazing video they’ve been producing by themselves, about themselves.

Smh

In all seriousness, that's what it seems we get with each iOS/macOS update

And what’s most disturbing is how excited they always are about it and how much time they spend on it.

They are like 50+ year old multi millionaires and it’s embarassing to watch senior executives talk through a monkey face on a stage.

It’s like a real life horrific dad joke...all just time wasted that should be spent in so many other areas.

See the octa core i9 is now standard on the top tier model, Vega is still an upgrade, but shouldn't be, if the cooling solution's not been sorted out just big numbers for sales & marketing, bar talk and lacking substance.

4th Gen Butterfly keyboard, time will tell, equally in no hurry to purchase given the history, especially as by default it's in an extended repair program.

They also updated the iMac, but still, the standard is Fusion, SSD is BTO. That is shocking in 2019, well, it was shocking in 2018 but you know..

I cancelled my Lenovo order. I'm in wait and see mode now to see if these fixes work and if the other smaller issues are resolved. I still don't like the TouchBar but will give Apple more time.

Step down to the 21.5” and you get a normal spinning hard drive as stock!

That’s right.
You can time travel back to 2009 on command right on the Apple web site.

Embarassing. Offensive. Honestly inexcusable.

1TB SATA SSD’s are DIRT cheap, especially to a buyer like Apple.
Apple...I thought you couldnt any greedier, but I stand corrected.

2020 methinks, Apple will want to make a spectacle of a new design, this is just a spec bump with or without the associated issues. Be interesting to see how the Octa core CPU's perform, if no additional cooling we already know the answer...

To be fair, I have heard of fewer issues with the 3rd gen keyboard, if it is less again with this one then I would hope it reduces the occurrences to 0.x% which would be an acceptable tolerance.

We know. There is no chance they have done anything internally as far as cooling is concerned. Just throw in a new proc and waiting for the orders to pour in.

Well we'll see soon enough, certainly the mobile i9 isn't know for running cool. Very likely to be the same as the 2018 MBP just about able to maintain base frequency with very short Turbo intervals due to the thermals limiting performance.

Hopefully Apple has done something substantial, equally it's hard to get behind them these days, "boy who cried wolf" and all...

Over here in Germany prices again increased:

480 Euro for the upgrade from 16 GB -> 32 GB
300/420 Euro Radeon Pro 560X -> Vega16/20
480 Euro upgrade 512 GB -> 1 TB

Including Apple Care this results in prices well north of 5000 Euros (1 TB only model, larger SSDs even more expensive, accordingly!!). Absolutely insane. I guess they leave me no choice but to get comfortable with Windows again... Hate it. Thanks, Mr. Cook, but Apple's unbelieveable greed drove a very loyal customer (and Apple advocate for way more than a decade) away. Well done!

Sorry for the rant...

I recently bought the Surface Book 2, I do love it but I am currently thinking about sending it back within the return window. The Lenovo Yoga S940 has me moist o_O

Y’all can enjoy the testing of these.

I am not touching this generation of MBP’s with a 10 foot pole.

It's ok, you did the right thing. My 2017 MBP is unusable, completely unusable. Total failure. My XPS 15 has been flawless. (/sarcasm - it's actually been 100% opposite). :p

Why? I had a classmate using one every day in class for awhile. Was hoping I could use it to see how the surface pen does with OneNote but never got the chance. That's the one where you can detach it from the keyboard and use it as a big tablet, right?

I hope all this is resolved when I'm looking at getting a laptop in 5-6 years. Seeing these new laptops overheat with little use (my XPS 15) is disheartening. It is like they expect you to do nothing with a super powerful CPU. Took Dell 4-5 BIOS updates to keep my CPU from causing random blue screens throughout the work day in VS 2019.

Good
The 2016 Pro in our house has been the worst Apple product I’ve ever purchased.

Glad things are better for you.

If I had your experience, I'd probably be in your shoes, so I have to give you that one. Thanks for posting what you're doing, I am finding these threads very interesting. I have used Windows all my life, and continue to. If I had to buy a Windows machine now it would be the X1 Carbon. That said, work bought me an XPS 15 for Black Friday last year. :D Thing is faster than sin - but at least Dell is working on making it more stable (and they're doing a good job).

I chose it as I couldn't find something in the ultrabook segment that really caught my attention as I say, it's great and yes it does detach from the keyboard but the battery life without the keyboard is really poor, for my liking. Yesterday I got just under 3 hours fully charged.

Would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something that versatile, amazing keyboard. But now I have seen the S940 it really is looking like the ultrabook I really wanted but couldn't find.

The pen with one note, awesome.

So I was unfortunately right, they launched updated MBP's today with a 4th Generation butterfly keyboard. Turns out it takes nothing but balls to keep trying over and over.

Here is some information: https://sixcolors.com/post/2019/05/...nd-keyboard-extends-keyboard-service-program/

Well, perhaps they will at last use some worthwhile paste and put it on correctly. That right there could help somewhat.

Apple is unbelievable. I just realised:

To even be able to upgrade the graphics to a Vega you need to select the mighty expensive 8 core version. The Vegas are not available for 6 core models (German store). Cheapest version is 2799, it comes with 256 GB SSD and Radeon Pro 555X (This thing is now 3+ years old) only. ...

2799, and all you get is a mere 256 GB and the lackluster, 555X right off the pages of prehistory? Just unbelievable.
