I wasn't gonna preorder it...then I thought about it more and looked at my finances. Then thought about how all my friends would be surprised I didn't have the latest and greatest since I'm usually that guy with the latest devices iOS and Android..then I thought about the notch...then I thought about all the fun I'm gonna a have with animojis...next thing I know about 1300 dollars lighter in the bank...do I feel remorse kinda but then when I think of all the fun I'm gonna have trolling with animojis it all goes away.. animojis totally worth the 1k can't put a price on fun.

Unless that plus size of x comes out....heh heh.

I had a ZX Spectrum, too! I love the black rubber keyboard it had.
Oh the days of loading a game via a tape drive, and listening to the modem type sounds.

Alas, I digress...

You are worth it!!!!!

I had 1.5 hours before reservation expired. Was debating if it was worth $1300. I finally ordered. We deserve nice things. I work hard for my money and this is a small treat. My first computer was a Casio PB-100 followed by ZX Spectrum. Amazing to now order a phone with a processor that scores faster on geekbench than a macbook pro 13".

I'm not worried about money. My bill is going up just by $11 per month and I'm not really paying $1150 for this phone! I'll end up doing the same thing I did this year with my iPhone! I paid off the $390 I owed for my iPhone 7 Plus, I sold my iPhone 7 plus for $580, so I got my $390 back and some change. So if you think about it the iPhone 7 plus was what? $870? I sold it this year for $580 so I only ended up spending $290? thats not bad at all. I'll be doing the same thing next year! If you are on an installment plan the worst thing you can do is send it back to your carrier, if it's in good working condition you can sell it for a good price. I have always sold my iPhones for more than $500. Last year I sold my iPhone 6s Plus for $600!!

Again, Im not worried about money, but curious if I'm going to like this phone! I'm gonna give it 10 days and if I don't like it I'll just buy the iPhone 8 Plus. I'm used to the Plus sized phones so I don't know how i'll feel with a smaller phone. we'll see.

Honestly, I thought about cancelling a few times, but I'm glad I didn't. I'm really looking forward to the new X. Sure, it's a lot of money, but it's damn well capable of a lot, and I spend so much time on my phone.

Others spend a lot of money on clothes, drinks, cars... I (and may others) spend money on tech...

I'm looking forward to my new iPhone X. :)

thats cute, but again, who pays retail for a USED phone?

And I already answered that question and so did the forum remember that you quoted originally. Not everybody finances a phone. When you pay in full, You own the iPhone out right, regardless if it's used or new, it's yours to do what you want with it. When you make monthly installed payments, you don't own it and your restricted to what you can do with it. That's a fact.

restricted to what? lol its not a leased automobile its phone. do I have a data/minutes limit? and I do own it, the carrier can't repo it. you'll just have a balance.

I had two iPhone X ordered, the 2-3 week Apple order and a release day Carphone Warehouse order.

Then I saw the prices for repair, realised I'd have to buy AppleCare too (£199) and that's doesn't cover loss. I was of course stuck, I didn't really want the 8+ and while the X looks great, a lot of people advise not buying the first iteration of iPhone models. I'd already sold my 6s in preparation as well.

Anyway I cancelled both of my X orders and decided to wait a year, I am currently running an old 5. I found that the 5 had three major issues for me, no Touch ID, no Apple Pay and it is slow. So in the end I got myself a new SE which arrives on Tuesday. It will be enough to see me through to next year when hopefully the 8s/9 will be a worthy upgrade or maybe the X2 will be available.

Yes I basically exchanged a 6s for an SE but my 6s was out of warranty and I'm actually quite comfortable with the screen on the 5 and it's the same screen as the SE. I also really like Touch ID, I'd like to read about people's real world experiences with Face ID before I actually throw that kind of money on a phone. So a big thanks to the Guinea pigs, once you get your new phones keep the reviews coming.

No, you don't own it. I would suggest you revisit the terms and conditions under your contract when you lease a phone. The carrier can cancel your service and blacklist the phone. Therefore, you're not free to do what you want with the phone that you owe payments on a monthly basis versus owning outright, which already has been explained to you.

As soon as the iPhone X went live on Friday I placed a 64GB Space Grey in my cart and got 3 Nov delivery. I got cold feet and deleted it. I had already bought a Google Pixel 2 which I love but was within my return window. I had been pontificating for a while but at the end of the day realised I would not be making good use of the iPhone X to justify the cost. I don't do gaming, I certainly would NEVER use the animated emojis, I don't use apps which would tax a lesser phone. Although I use my phone a lot during the day, it's for things like email, SMS, WhatsApp, camera, podcasts and so on - all of which are well catered for on my Pixel 2 - particularly the camera. I know that the camera on the X is not in the same league as the Pixel so what would I be gaining by buying an iPhone X? I've never been one for buying something because it looks nice or even having a relationship with someone very good-looking, lol, too much baggage. My taste in cars is similar. Substance over style is my motto.

Technically, at least at AT&T, you DO own it from day one. It's a financing agreement to pay off the device. If you decide to trade it in before it's paid off, while not required in the least bit, then technically you leased the product. If you decide to keep the product without trading it in, and either let the payments drop off naturally or pay it off prematurely... then you haven't leased the product since it was not returned.

Well, if you stop making your monthly payments, wouldn't AT&T just blacklist your phone from all networks? So you don't even have control of "your" phone then...

Just for perspective. It would take my mother 2 years to earn these money. To me, this is already way too much for a phone. I totally understand that people are free to do what they want with their money, but from reading forum, I have a feeling that many folks buy these expensive phones despite the fact they cannot afford them.

I paid $2500 for 2 of them, I won't lie I have had some feelings of doubt, but I'm rather confident in the 14 day return period.

I’m holding on the 14 day return period. I preordered the X but am definitely feeling the pain of shelling out $1500 for a phone (yes, $1500 after tax for the base model in Canada)

Something about paying this much for a phone just isn’t sitting right with me. I’m thinking of canceling but don’t want to regret doing it.
What about the people that paid 1,000+ outright? I know what you mean, I've long complained about the price of the X.

Anyone else?
Yeah, I'm curious. I'm sure those with the 2-3 week window are hoping a lot of Nov 3 people cancel theirs so they can move up in line :p

How in the heck do you own something that you are renting? Commonsense 101 out the window. I’d like to see you walk away from what you OWE, and get away with it.

I am the same way. When you spend $1000 dollars on something, you have better thought it through, ordering and canceling right after seems reckless.
Not for nothing, I think its natural for some people to get caught up in the hype and excitement but then once the dust cleared they realized they perhaps should have held off.
