Will not upgrade. Probably every 2-3 years. I don't get a new Mac every time a new model comes out, so why would I do this for the iPad? It basically meets my needs now.

IMO I'm not happy at all with my iPad, the browser experience is not as smooth as expected due to the lack of sufficient RAM, I use iCab because Safari is a pain in the ass.

I'm going to play with the Xoom tablet and see what March 2nd will show, then when the iPad2 hits the stores I'm going to play with it and finally make my decision on which one to buy.

Ipad 2

I am happy with mine and will more than likely wait for Ipad3 unless something BIG is announced. Don't really care about the cameras. The info floating around just doesn't inspire me to upgrade.

I wasn't happy with my ipad it just wasn't very useful,it was really just a giant iphone. Web browsing was slooooow, tabs always reloaded due to lack of ram,the well documented lack of flash prevented me from using my school and work related sites on the ipad which pretty much made it a paperweight. Unless iOS 5 makes ipad more of a laptop experience ala honeycomb I'm going to most likely pass on the new ipad as well.

I am going to see what ipad 2 has and either buy a used first gen or a new second gen. I feel like at this point though buying a first gen is probobly unwise simply because it seems like every two years apple starts cutting features from the older models (like no multitasking on iphone 3g etc) simply because the device can't handle it. I can see with the limited ram on ipad this being a problem

Probably not, unless there are huge upgrades. If the new one has both a much better screen and is a lot faster, I might consider it. Short of that I will wait.

Making it lighter means nothing to me. I have no problem handling 1.5 pounds. Having a bigger hard drive is a non issue because I can access anything I need via streaming or desktop remote software and my 32GB iPad still has plenty of room for more apps. A faster processor would be welcome, but iCab has helped with most of those issues. I don't need cameras on it and they would rarely, if ever, be used.

I don't need it to replace my laptop or desktop. Those type of computers are better for work and I have no issue with using the right tool for the job. So, an upgrade in the screen would be the one thing that could really enhance the way I use the iPad...short of that, I can't see a reason to get one, but I will hold off for the announcement before I completely rule it out.

Let's put it this way.

If Apple fix the slow web browsing, perhaps as fast as I hear the Xoom is.
Then perhaps, that may be enough to get me interested.

If the whole product is the same, with facetime, but say 15% faster overall, then I'm not going to bother.

I dont think I'll be upgrading.. It does what I need it to do.

I got my iMac and iPhone for facetime so I'm not worried about having a camera on the iPad

Agreed! It does everything I want fine so far. I'll probably upgrade when apps/iOS start to run slow on my iPad.

That is a good point.

A whole range of top quality new apps that don't run on iPad1 due to Ram or something would be the thing I'd be looking for.

In the same way I'd not buy a Sony PS3 if all it did was run PS2 games a little better. I'd want proper PS3 games.

Happy

I am happy with the current iPad; however I would like to see better file system management and a better program to edit/render Microsoft Word files.

Also, the current iPad seems to flush out apps rather quickly compared to the iPhone 4, for example Skype and Jump Desktop get dropped quickly if I have TuneIn Radio open or Safari open as well. I imagine more RAM will help?

I would prefer they keep the look the same, increase the RAM, add a front facing camera and call it a day.

I doubt I'll upgrade, even if the new specs "blew me away."

I committed to a 2-year upgrade plan, and I'm sticking with it. I'll let iOS 5 tide me over until iPad 3 comes out, then upgrade.

Well, unless Apple does like the rumors say and has iPad 3 out by the fall, then I'll go "WTF" and re-evaluate. :)

I'm pretty much content with the iPad as it stands now.

Perhaps if the iPad was to get a new hi-res display maybe but given that its probably only going to get a ram increase, maybe a speed bump for the processor. I'm not that interested

I never have and I probably never will buy a tablet. The iphone and 11.6" MBA combination makes tablets obsolete. There's nothing this combination can't do better than any tablet except be an ereader, but I prefer paper books.

People the question was "Anyone else happy with the current iPad and NOT considering to upgrade?" NOT "Please post if you don't like the iPad". Guess some folks have a hard time reading or understanding a question or they just like to boast about being an iPad hater (which I don't understand why they are even reading this message board in the first place). Sheesh, I am so tired of this folks.

based on the rumors i hear, not enough of any substantial changes to justify at this time. however, when they implement a retina screen, way more ram and a faster processor then i would be more inclined to upgrade.

I'm gonna go with the stick with my current iPad for now and wait till the 3rd or 4th version is out and really step up to the new specs then crowd.

I may wait it out.
I love the one I have. Only a few months old, unless something dramatically changes then I'll upgrade. I am really rootin' for the retina display. I know, I know.. Honestly, that's the only upgrade I'm looking forward to. If it doesn't, I'll move on. My daughter might be sad though since she won't be getting her own iPad for awhile.

I'm happy with the one I have now. I don't use it to it's full potential so no need to spend the money on a new one.

I'll wait and see how much iOS5 cripples mine.

It's already starting to show a markedly slower response after 4.2.

For example apps are unresponsive for a couple of seconds after switching to them, folders occasionally taking seconds to open etc.
