Until there's a new faster 4g or whatever network and devices to support it I see no compelling reason to upgrade the iPad or iPhone. My 64mb iPad is great as is.

IMO apple needs to add switches to the iPhone and iPad to turn off Bluetooth and wifi vs just the menus. It's a PIA to have to go into the menus when I leave the house or toggle BT off after getting out of my car. At the very least the could have them auto off when not paired with a BT device or network that is mine.

More than happy with my ipad only current regret is the 16gb memory thank god for handbrake.
The only things that would convince me to upgrade would be a 8mp+ camera on the back. Fast processing power with ram. A non-reflective glare screen that i don't see my reflection in every time i want to watch a movie on it and the ability to use it outside in daylight (big selling point). Also the speaker and volumes need to be increased.
So i don't really want much

Unless something mind-blowing comes out of this Wed event, I don't expect I'll be upgrading anytime soon. While I'd love to get a lighter and faster device, my current iPad does everything I need and more. I think, like the iPhone, I'll typically skip every other model... anyone else?

And I know we don't have any hard details yet but I'm simply asking, at this point who's written off the desire to upgrade and is happy as is?

As is usual with apple and its small update increments: nope.

Iphone 5 : more likely, then an ipad 3 to replace the 1 .

I am one of those.

I love my iPad but am not happy whatsoever with the laughable 2gb cap which I hit probably every single month. It has gotten so ridiculous that I am slowly finding other ways to get things online rather than through the iPad b/c I worry about hitting the cap too quickly. This is not what I am looking for in a tablet.

I am going to wait for AT&T or Verizon to significantly raise their caps on the iPads (assuming Verizon releases a 3G version soon) AND see how other tablets are with their caps. Judging by recent iPad rivals, other people are not offering that much better deals so I am just going to keep using my iPad 1 until it breaks down

I completely agree. However, it seems as though Apple might be announcing something much more amazing then we're expecting... because today's news is that they're going to be simulcasting the event! Basically, whatever they're announcing at this event might just be a bigger deal then it's rumored to be :D

they're going to probably demo intercontinental facetime instead of having Tim Cook Facetime Johnny Ive a couple hundred miles away they'll have a 10 thousand mile gap just to do it.

If Verizon offers unlimited data for their version of the iPad, AT&T would have to follow suit. ESPECIALLY if it's a World mode device because then you could switch sitting in the comfort of your own home. AT&T doesn't change for anyone unless they think they'll lose a lot of business, and this will be one of those cases. I expect after a month or 2 when they see how much they're not getting we'll see an unlimited data option return

waiting for retina

are you waiting for a 2560x1536(double) retina, or just for someone at apple to call it a retina. based on the distance you hold the iPad from your face, they just need about a 30dpi bump and to make it work for 720p video and they could technically call it a retina without lying.

It seems like people are not that excited about the "incremental improvements" that have been rumored. That is keeping most of you from upgrading. Just for discussions sake-Would you reconsider assuming all of the rumored changes as well as a $100 price decrease? Just asking since one site is reporting that it is a possibility.

I have to say I might be tempted.

Nada, not me!

I'm more excited for what will be in iOS5 which I am hoping they will talk about on Wednesday.

New iPad hardware will be sweet but I don't think I will be upgrading this time around (Although I have a bunch of friends who have been holding out that are probably going to get it.)

Be interesting to see what changes they make, but I am very happy with my current iPad. Having camera's in iPad 2 - does not interest me. iPad is too bulky to carry around to take photo's and I have used facetime /ichat a handful of times since iChat was first released.

For me, my 16 gb wi-fi only iPad is enough. Even if the specs are a lot better in the new version, I'm not upgrading. This isn't the iphone where you get a good discount to upgrade and can usually sell your current iphone for the price of the new one.

Also, the ipad is sold to so many consumers (not necessarily Apple fans). Even though it will do well, I don't see as many upgraders as analysts' predict.

I haven't heard anything overwhelming that makes me want to run out and upgrade. Unless they announce something mind-blowing, I'll stick with my current model.

It will all depend on the comparison of new features and performance improvements.
I may get it regardless, just because my wife wants to keep my current iPad. But I'm also considering selling it and getting her a WiFi-only iPad2 instead, so I don't retain an old product in the house.

For me, 64GB 3G iPad is not enough... I really need more power and storage. Heheh! :D

If the camera is the main new feature, I may not upgrade this time. Not worth it.

I am probably going to upgrade regardless. I am probably going to lose $150-200 from selling my current iPad and replacing it with the new one. But that money for a whole year doesn't seem alot. Faster processor and more RAM means loading webpages faster, which to me is enough of an upgrade. The real decision is if I'm gonna upgrade to the iPad 3 next year because tons of new tablets are coming out.

I wonder if iOS5 would run decently on the first iPad.
I'm currently more concern on the release of iOS 4.3, which should be on Wednesday too. :D

It's better to sell now and loose little, than sell later and loose more or not being able to sell it.

or just lose nothing and save hundreds by using what we have now for several more years since it's going to perform just fine for quite a while.
