Bunch of newbs and their premature ejaculation issues...

This is the 4th generation, and trust me when I say that selling current phone ahead of release is not worth the few dollars you make in between.

Everyone knows about the upcoming release, it's not like if they are considering buying your 3GS now, and they would change their mind in a month because 4G has been released.

The newb with "ejactualtion issues" would be the one that doesn't consider competition w/ every other iPhone user flooding eBay and CL with their old phones after buying the new one.

Also, some of us have other phones to fall back on. I have an iPhone from work that I will use after selling mine.

I give up trying to point out that this is the "4th generation" and the same process has taken place every year for the last two.

But hey, if $30-40 is important to you, so be it.

i sold my close to 2 year old 3G for $400. i gotta say, of all smartphones its incredible the value the iphone has for resale. i've sold several other smartphones in the past and the iphone was the easiest and most profitable

May I ask, where did you sell it for $400 ? I'd be glad to go phoneless until the new iPhone comes out, if I could get $400 for my 3G (not unlocked).

Mine's on eBay right now. FWIW, I posted 'no international shipping', but have received many inquiries to do so. Those of you willing to ship internationally may be able to get more $$.

Do you run the risk of getting ripped off easier on overseas deals. I remember when I was selling my Palm Treo on Craig's List, I was getting emails from Europe, Africa, etc. I never responded to those, even though they offered way more.

You don't need to point it out, I point it out as well. And $40 is $40. What reason do I have NOT to sell today!??!

I have the same question. If you do run that risk, how do you mitigate it?

You sound like you are better at making friends than I can.

Alright Mr. I-am-always-right, you are not wrong once again.

It is easy to offer a lot of money if you don't plan on paying!

I didn't sell mine for the new iPhone, but I did sell mine though. This is actually what took place in a matter of 2 weeks. I purchased a BB Tour with Sprint on 5/8 thinking it would be better since the service is cheaper than AT&T. I sold my iPhone via Craigslist on 5/9(Mothers Day). I picked up a BB Bold 9700 and ported back to AT&T on 5/14 because I didn't like Sprint. I returned the Sprint BB Tour on 5/16 and received a full refund. I traded my 4 year old black Macbook for a white 16GB iPhone 3GS on 5/18. I realized that the grass is definitely not greener, just grassier. I love :apple: products minus the iPad :D

Just sold my 2G 16GB for $275.

I'm going to attempt to buy a 4th gen iPhone unsubsidized w/o a plan, because AT&T doesn't cover where I live or where I travel. It's skype only for phone calls.

But with ichat, & a vidcam, that little thing might just kick the ass of my ipad. ...now if they would only make Numbers for iPhone...

When people explain WHY they switched or share their experience with the rest of us, it's not exactly whining.

Yeah it is you know why? Because no one here cares why they're switching. They are "whining" to a group of people that have seen it before.

There's no need to let us know they are leaving..... just do it ffs and move the freak on. If you make a post/blog letting us know why you're leaving, you're whining..... Judging from all the negative posts in such threads, I would say I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I was going to put it up on eBay last week, but decided to hold off till around June 1st, so I don't have to be without an iPhone for too long.

Using a BlackBerry Pearl as a temporary replacement ****ing blows.

Just sold my 3GS 16GB on eBay for £380 (around $550), was quite surprised what people will pay for a used phone when you can buy a brand new PAYG one for £449.

i have just had my iPhone 3Gs 16GB black factory unlocked by o2 so i might sell as you seem to get more for factory unlocked iPhones, any one wants it post me a message

Just shows how well the iPhone holds it's value!

Was the 3GS unlocked? I'm thinking about trying out Sprint and the EVO for a month to see how I like it.

Nope a fresh version of 3.13. I am moving my wife's 3G today for $250.

$435 thats cheap. I must have sold my phone to a complete mugg.

That was the going rate on Ebay. Not many were selling for more.

How do you guys get so much money for your used iPhones ?

My phone was actually "new". I had taken it to Apple just before I placed it on Ebay and they replaced it with a refurb. I then added my sim to an old phone and never used the refurd. I sold a "new" iphone in my auction for $435. It was still wrapped in all the sticky paper and all.

I have my sim in a Blackberry Bold 9000 right now. How miserable I am right now w/out my iPhone. I need my EVO baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

If you don't like it, don't read it. Then you don't have to worry about it.

Explaining or complaining one time in a normal fashion is not the definition of whining. I agree that if they do it repeatedly or do it in some annoying fashion that it is whining.

Yep, I sold my iPhone 3G (16GB) on craigslist for $125. The only reason it was so low b/c my phone was broken. Literally!

I am going to put my phone up on ebay in the next few days, anybody know a temporary phone that is reasonably priced till the launch of the new iPhone?

i just need a phone to satisfy my texting needs that i cant imagine spending more than $50-100 on :p

I haven't sold mine yet but am planning to once I have the 4G in my hot little hands. I've gotten way too dependent on my iPhone to go without, even if it's only for a month. Sad, but true. :)

I plan on selling my 3G 16GB to get the new one in June (or whenever it's released). Currently my 3G has 3.0.1 firmware just cuz tethering works so well with the benm.at hack (not that I condone or participate in that sort of questionable activity;)).

Should I leave it as it is so it's future owner can jailbreak/unlock it if they want? Or should I just update it to 3.1.3?
