For the record. This is not unscrupulous. This is taking a chance with ones own dollars to earn a profit. Someone that wants the phone still gets it.

I'm also sure you see no problem with the people who bought up all the water during the hurricanes and sold them for a ridiculous price.

Only a POS flips phones, tbh. Selfish act that limits others who actually want one from getting it. It's small microcosm of society today. The mentality of "F you, I got mine" is alive and well.

That is nowhere near the same level lol. One is so morally corrupt. The other is praying on impatient people.

Not the same level because one is a necessity and one is a luxury, but it's basically the same principle of screwing over other people to make a profit.

This thread is horrible, I hope it gets buried fast. I don't want MacRumors to be a breeding ground for opportunistic to-be scalpers learning how to scalp the phone to turn a profit :(.
Right. Because they otherwise wouldn't know how to do so.

should the next iphone be an Xs or 11?
Are you really questioning whether or not the next iPhone should be called the iPhone eXcess? Really?

Since X is Roman for ten and XI is roman for 11 it should be XI.

It really should have just been iPhone “x” not 10. At least they would be easier: SE, 7,

XS = 10S

Scalpers exist because there are either gullible, desperate or a little bit of both who are willing to be bamboozled.
If they weren't there the scalpers would go back into the deep, dark crevice from which they emerged.
This unmoral, greedy act should not be sugar coated nor should it be justified.
I’ve never done it before but you know what’s a much worse than scalpers? Every single person who has been a part of ‘in-app purchases’. In-app purchases are a completely immoral scheme to take people’s money, similar to gambling. Imagine how many kids have lost theirs or their parents money, too.

Wait a second, you’re saying that every time Walmart (or virtually every single other store ever) buys products and resells them to make a profit, they aren’t being immoral? Craziness.

There is a time it's fine to do this from a moral standpoint and times it's not. Selling cases of water for $50+ after a disaster isn't cool, but this is a luxury product. Nobody "needs" an iPhone X when there are dozens of comparable less expensive and easily available products on the market.

People who will spend $2000+ to get a phone that will be a hot product and likely backordered for a long time are making a choice. They can either wait out the back order and use their old phone until the X is in stock, get an iPhone 8 or comparable phone, or pay a huge amount on eBay, Craigslist, etc. to a smart businessperson.

It's called free market capitalism. The only difference here is it's the little guy making some money instead of Apple making it all. If it's a product a person can live without then it's their choice. I've done it before on hot gaming systems and I would do it again if I get the chance.

I would agree. How do you plan on getting them? My carrier is not one of the main 4 Apple is offering, but I still want to order my 2 to flip.

Buy the T-Mobile or sim free (if available) and pay in full. No carrier info needed.

Really? That's the loophole? Are T-Mobile phones unlocked by default (like Verizon)?
Nah they won't work on CDMA carriers like Sprint/Verizon, but it is the only variant that doesn't require account info at Apple upon checkout. So it can be used for anyone on AT&T/T-Mobile.

People would definitely still buy it though, right?

Technically it would be the iPhone 13 (didn’t count the 5c or SE as they were budget versions of other lines, only included the main releases)

  1. iPhone
  2. iPhone 3G
  3. iPhone 3GS
  4. iPhone 4
  5. IPhone 4s
  6. iPhone 5
  7. iPhone 5s
  8. iPhone 6
  9. iPhone 6s
  10. iPhone 7
  11. iPhone 8
  12. iPhone X

Of course, most people who know it will work on their network won't care. Especially the wealth of iPhone users in the US are on AT&T which is compatible with that phone bc AT&T was the iPhone's first carrier.

Will the 256GB fetch a higher ROI than a 64GB do you think? I'm estimating the 256GB will sell from $1600-$1900 whereas the 64GB will sell for $1300-$1500

How is it screwing people over? Will Apple stop making X's after the release day? No. They'll make it until everyone has one. So nobody is "screwed" they just have to wait longer. Waah... everyone will need to wait except for the first 5 people who order anyway.

The millennials on this site don't get it no matter how many times it's explained to them.
